  1. I think too many people are overlooking the word "Coordinator" in the job title. This feels more bureaucratic than functional. I see this as having good organizational and communication skills, with an understanding of hitting technique and being driven by an already existing organizational philosophy rather than putting her own spin on the direction of how they will be teaching hitting. I feel like a lot of these reactions are overreactions due to her gender. Which is perhaps understandable but isn't the greatest look in my opinion.
  2. My take on Stafford is he's been a notch below great. I've always felt he had some Favre in him, the bad kind, that his upside couldn't quite make up for. However he has the talent and physical ability to be great, if McVay's offense gives him the structure and protection he needs to make quality decisions he could have some great years ahead of him.
  3. I'm amused by the reports that Stafford told Detroit to trade him anywhere except the Patriots. I'm sure that's mostly due to Matt Patricia being hired back there but it's not like he'd be directly involved with Stafford day to day, I'm sure they could co-exist. He's probably just had enough of the "Patriot way" which tickles me a little.
  4. Good post. This is how I've felt about the home/road split bias against Rockies players, give them time to adjust to not having to constantly deal with having to play in that stadium on a regular basis. I also wonder how much playing in the NL West affects their road splits, some of those ballparks are on the pitcher friendly side. I think paying attention to the splits is prudent I just don't want to believe that they will translate so perfectly once the player is removed from that environment.
  5. The Athletic is good and worth a subscription but I'd recommend waiting for a promo which they seem to do fairly often. Because of that I wouldn't sub unless there was a discount unless you just can't wait. I want to say back in November they had a deal for a year subscription for a dollar a month. I wouldn't expect that great of a deal to be common but I've gotten some good ones over the years. Finding 30% off shouldn't be hard. Nice part is no ads on their site, and no annoying auto play videos, in addition to quality content.
  6. Good players are good players. I remember when DJ LeMahieu left the Rockies many posters here dismissed him as a product of Coors Field for many of the same reasons and all he's done is finish 4th and 3rd for AL MVP the last 2 seasons. I'm not worried about Arenado's performance dropping off much going to St. Louis. Or rather, I am worried if the Brewers plan on trying to contend the next few seasons.
  7. My favorite part of this post is it's not in blue.
  8. Yay. I hate it.
  9. Watching Bucks vs Pels and Bledsoe is shooting 7-12 from 3 lol. 25 pts, 9-19 FGs overall. Because of course he is.
  10. LOL even Houston's previous GM would say no to that. Probably would need at least one or two more 1st round picks going to Houston for this deal to work. Behind a paywall on ESPN+ this is a trade scenario Bill Barnwell came up with for a Watson trade to GB as part of a column he wrote coming up with scenarios for several teams. For what it's worth he has Green Bay as the least likely destinations for Watson but he was trying to list teams that might have a reason so they were included. Packers send: QB Aaron Rodgers (to 49ers), 30th overall pick in 2021, QB Jordan Love (to Texans) 49ers send: 12th overall pick in 2021, 2022 first-round pick (to Texans), 2022 second-round pick (to Packers), QB Jimmy Garoppolo (to Patriots) Texans send: QB Deshaun Watson (to Packers), 2022 fourth-round pick (to 49ers) Patriots send: 142nd overall pick (to 49ers) He has a lot more comments about this but I don't want to plagiarize paid content over much, but this obviously would be a complicated trade that includes a lot of draft choices. Green Bay sending out both Rodgers and Love plus a 1st round pick is a pretty steep price, even with them getting SF's 2nd round pick in 2022 in return. But maybe they wouldn't think it's that bad?
  11. I feel like the only reasonable thought behind the sensationalistic media presentation is that some in the front office would oppose extending Rodgers' contract to retain the flexibility to move on from him after the 2021 season with a minimal cap hit. Even declining to extend or renegotiate his current deal does not mean they WILL move on from him, just that they'd have the option to. These are thoughts that have already been hashed out and discussed for the better part of the last year. I'm sure that possibility isn't fun for Rodgers but his contract structure wasn't a secret when he signed the deal in the first place. Big money up front, protection for the team on the back. I really don't see the Packers moving on from Rodgers before next season, or rather I think the chances are very slim. Unless they think they have a move where they can get Deshaun Watson, and I'm not convinced that's the best option, I can't foresee going another direction and giving up on Super Bowl contention for 2021-22.
  12. Yeah it seems ridiculously far fetched. Murphy outright says on Monday he'll be back, so as far as I can see that means he's going to be back. If this is coming from Gute and the other executives that doesn't matter because Murphy is still calling the shots.
  13. Dov Kleiman @NFL_DovKleiman According to @AdamSchefter, the #Packers coaches want @AaronRodgers12 back if he wants to be return but he's is not "As convinced that everybody feels the same way about Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay as the coaches." This would be mind boggling if there are factions that still want him gone this badly.

    Pizza

For what it's worth I ordered the Pizza Hut Detroit pizza last night. 1) I liked it. I would order it again and I probably will. 2) I didn't feel like it was a whole lot different than their pan pizza from a crust perspective, but the sauce above the cheese instead of under it really works. The toppings were good, the new pepperonis were a success and as I said I liked how the sauce was on top. There was lots of pepperoni on it so if you love pepperoni that's a plus. As far as how it compares to Rocky Rococo it's not very similar other than shape, definitely fits with the Pizza Hut brand. I liked it much more than the Little Caesars deep deep dish pizza, I tried that once and wasn't very impressed with it, their version feels like all very bready crust to me with very little cheese, sauce and toppings.
  15. I remember reading something very recently, perhaps a week ago don't remember where, where Rodgers talks about when he realized or adopted the no interceptions/turnover mentality he has. I had always assumed it was something he consciously focused on because Favre threw so many but he actually caught on to it either in high school or at worst right away in college. I think one of his quotes was something along the lines of, he noticed how all the QBs even around the country were guys that didn't turn the ball over and his coaches would constantly hammer the no turnovers mandate into QBs. He figured out that if he didn't turn the ball over he'd get opportunities to play and if he did turn the ball over he might lose playing time. Not groundbreaking concepts but to me the surprise was it wasn't as much of a Favre type of influence and it wasn't a new thing with him becoming a pro.
  16. I've only had the chance to watch 1 game this season... any observations on what has changed? If you have access to The Athletic this article kind of talks about some of the tweaks they installed going into this season: https://theathletic.com/2281277/2021/01/11/bucks-new-offense-blue-dunker-spot/
  17. Hall of Fame voting doesn't exist to recognize players, it's for sportswriters to inflate their egos. All hail the sportswriter, the true heroes of the game, the keepers of integrity. They should all vote themselves in and then write about it. Yes this is my stance that Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa etc., should be in the Hall. MLB didn't care what they were doing until everything got exposed and Congress started having hearings. Then they were all ignorance and surprise and all the blame fell on the players rather than the culture that had gone on unabated for years and years.
  18. Sure that's the given, sorry if it seemed I was dismissing that part of your statement, it was acceptance over dismissal. If we're choosing Rodgers over Love, and I think most of us are at this point, then value has to be found in plan B, C or D.
  19. He can be a good quality backup or if he flashes enough in preseason, any year, or gets some fill in time due to a Rodgers injury and performs well he becomes a trade asset. There are many possibilities where Love brings the team value without ever becoming the starter. I think we'll see more QBs selected in the draft in coming seasons as well, probably (hopefully?) not in the first round but I don't envision the Packers putting all their eggs in Love's basket.

    Pizza

The Pizza Hut Detroit style pizza was intriguing to me also. I especially like that there's a new "crispy cupped" pepperoni topping that's coming with it, if the Detroit pizza is limited time I hope the pepperoni sticks around, I really like that style of pepperoni. Reviewbrah is out with his review for those interested.
  21. At this point, if there's a break, I may for the first time in my life side with the player. Rodgers hasn't made demands, he hasn't shown he's anything like Favre and he came out and was by all accounts a great leader and a good mentor to Love. And while I was alright with the Love pick because I thought it'd be 4 years(potentially) and he was a project and you don't know how long Rodgers will play, the term "don't throw good money after bad," kinda comes to mind, but if you just change money with dumb ideas. Don't piss off the best player in franchise history(with respect to Reggie and Don) while he's still playing at an MVP level. And Rodgers has said his dream scenario is to finish his career in GB and Murphy said they're not idiots, they're not letting him go. So...problem solved. You might have made a bad call last year by picking a QB. Though I wouldn't force a trade. Nothing wrong with have a talented young backup. But Jordan Love should not dictate how or when Rodgers leaves. My view on Rodgers is he has a right to do what's best for himself. I've been pretty pro-player in these types of scenarios in general, Le'veon Bell etc., and across all pro sports. If a player feels his franchise isn't serving his career in the best way possible whether for financial or competitive reasons I respect their decisions, perhaps with a few caveats. Antonio Brown is kind of a special (nut) case, I don't much care about where his career goes anymore, whatever goodwill he may have been due has been used up and then some as far as I'm concerned. Back to Rodgers, I'd most likely support his right to do whatever he wants, I'd just hope he does it as respectfully as the situation allows, which is difficult in its own right but it can be done. However it ends I remain a Packers fan first and foremost. I root first for the clothes, then the individual. I want him to remain a Packer for as long as possible. Despite how I framed a response in my initial post of this thread I'm not rooting for drama. I also have now watched the portion of Rodgers comments on the Pat McAfee show and Rodgers is framing a lot of his comments as if his current actions/statements are not much different than what happens at the end of any season. So the earlier quote from the article where it suggested Rodgers would be talking to the top brass about his contract, that may be true and it may not be true, he didn't specify it in that context. He simply said they usually have sit down meetings at the end of the season to have "honest conversations" about how things played out over the course of the season and how that all sits with everyone, etc. Reasonable but also vague. Only he knows what he's really thinking about his contract situation. So, left to speculate as reasonably as possible, and from what Rodgers has said recently and in the past, he envisioned playing his entire career for one team and thought that would be a unique and special thing that is rare in sports. He doesn't know that it will happen but it's part of the "dream". He might seek a contract extension/enhancement simply to secure a 3 season window of SB contention with the Packers and make the presence of Jordan Love less of a threat to his remaining with the team. The thought being that if the club extends him it pushes back the threshold of when it would make sense to move on, cap space wise, from after the 2021 season as it sits currently to after the 2023 season, which is also when Jordan Love's current contract will expire.
  22. Murphy's statement came on a radio show yesterday (before the story posted in this thread was published) and Rodgers clarifying his Sunday comments do not exclude the possibility that he wants a contract extension. From article: "Former Packers teammate A.J. Hawk asked him a question about revisiting his contract and Rodgers said he expects to have conversations with General Manager Brian Gutekunst, team president Mark Murphy and others now that the season is over." That's not a denial.
  23. Tim Boyle's tenure as "the" backup would last about 1 game. If Tim Boyle were a good enough QB to maintain the Packers playoff status in the event of a Rodgers injury then there wouldn't have been much need to draft Love in the first place.
  24. Again, the way I see it, I think this comes from Rodgers feeling like he doesn't have to play the "loyal soldier" part anymore. Rodgers just went out and had an MVP season and was a 1st team All Pro, he has a measure of justification for seeking a restructure or extension. And it is true that asking for a new contract doesn't signal the end of times and could work out positively for the Packers. As far as Mike Florio and PFT I really don't know what his reputation is, I've been watching some of the PFT content throughout the season and he seems intelligent and reasonable enough not to make stuff up just for clicks but that doesn't mean he wouldn't either.
  25. I have no problem with anyone who wants to start a gofundme for travel, a new bike, a new tv, whatever. More power to them if people are stupud enough to contribute. I mostly agree with the overarching sentiment, but I'll leave a tiny bit of space of respect for people that have expendable income that want to make themselves feel good for helping someone in need out, even if it's for something most others think are frivolous goals.
