I agree it a shame the young guys didn't play more and rather see guys like Navreson and Butler get starts instead of Lopper and Suppan these last few games -
Melvin should make Macha sit Soup, Looper and Bush, the rest of the final 2 weeks and let Butler get at least one of the spots.

Anybody else mildly concerned about Gallardo's BB totals?

The high # of walks is a concern because it does not allow him to go deep into games,Right now he a solid #2 pitchers who needs to work on a few things. That said i think Yo should be shut down and give his start to Butler. -
Did Axford really get called up to milwaukee? Macha must have been given orders not to use him.

Zambrano and Lee have brought their A game tonight they really seem to enjoy beating up on the brewers.

It would be nice if Butler gets a start or two and Axford gets into a game and maybe find a way to get Gamel in there and Keep Escobar as the Everyday SS. But think with Macha running the show those might not happen in the last 20 games

Suppan starting me to believe next season will be his best for the crew.

At least the Cubs play their Callups. Gamel will have a sit next to Money for the remaining games and would not be schocked to see him moved in a trade

They would have to get two starting Pitchers but what type of hole would that leave in the Batting order? -
the problem The rest of the divisoin at that time were palying bad and Melvin believed we could still win.Then he neve realized and the trade deadline came and he didn't want to be a seller.

i would rather see Gerut getting a tryout in center for 2010 than Patterson. Melvin job will be on the line in 2010 to see what changes he can make to get this team back into playoff contention.
