  1. $5 million/1 year - Not bad
  2. Almost all the "A team" players are hurt so what maddon says really doesn't matter at all. If anything it helps motivate the B-team players to prove themselves; I'd be kind of pissed about that comment if I was Bote, Happ, Kemp, etc. I'd rather have players that are trying to prove something versus guys who have nothing to prove and are packing it up for the year. Alec Mills is pitching on Friday and has been pitching pretty good. Looks like Hamels is starting Saturday. No one announced for Sunday. I would love it if Darvish or Hendricks gets a start during the series but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
  3. Should be interesting to watch Schwarber, Heyward, Castellanos outfield
  4. Holey crap Pomeranz had a horrific May - 19.16 ERA, 3.290 WHIP over 10 IP June and July numbers look decent. Good strikes outs but a lot of walks.
  5. I wonder if its worth rolling the dice on Ken Giles - he's have a great year. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/ken-giles-still-in-play-in-trade-talks.html With his elbow inflammation, maybe we can get him on a discount. Worse case scenario, he is limited this year, but useful next year.
  6. I like the trade. Brewers were in a real hard place with Aguilar since he wasn't producing; at times I was wondering if they would DFA him due to roster crunch. I hope he flourishes in Tampa. I had Jacob Faria on a lot of fantasy teams in 2017; he was quite good that year. There's some potential there. With the brewers system so desperate for pitching, its worth the gamble. Hopefully a change of scenery helps. He relative young and he's controllable.
  7. Ken Giles is having a great season. There's reports that he's had a total attitude adjustment this year which has been one of the biggest knocks on him and probably was impacting his performance in past years. He would be my top choice if we were to splurge on a high end reliever at the deadline. But at the same time, probably a huge price tag. 1.29 ERA, 1.036 WHIP, 15.8 K/9 1.03 FIP, xFIP 2.09
  8. I wonder what it would take for Castellanos. He's been a "breakout" candidate but hasn't delivered. He's had some crazy high hard contact rates the past couple of years. I've read him being pretty disgruntled with playing for a rebuilding team which may be impacting his play. Also playing in a bad lineup can't be helping for a kind of free swinger. Maybe moving to a better line-up, in a better ballpark and with a winning team might make the breakout happen? The tigers couldn't move him over the offseason so demand isn't that high. And they probably don't want to offer him a qualifying offer since he's probably accept it with the current market and his disappointing year. Although he's a boras client, right? Aguilar would make a lot of sense for Detroit. They have no first baseman. He's controllable for 3 years with a history of success. They can afford for him to struggle. He probably doesn't make it to them on waivers. Aguilar + ~#10 prospect for Castellanos? I have no clue. He's not a good OF so that would be a big reason for the brewers to stay away. Braun or Castellanos would have to move to 1B which I don't know if thats a great idea for either since they have limited experience there.
  9. The rumors that the Mets and Phillies are interested in Mike Minor is interesting. He is making 9.8 mil for 2019 and again in 2020, and would cost some prospects. While Keuchel sits there. The draft pick/slot money is probably a significant reason, I'm thinking he's not getting signed until after the June draft.
  10. I really want to see Burnes and Woodruff in the rotation this year. I think once they figure things out, they are going to be legit. The offense will allow us to go through some growing pains early in the season. But part of me wouldn't mind seeing the brewers sign Keuchel (1 yr/18 mil) and then push Woodruff and Burnes back to the bullpen once Nelson is ready. I really want to see Woodruff and Burnes get a shot at the rotation the entire year. But I wouldn't mind seeing this: Rotation Chacin Keuchel Nelson Peralta Davies Bullpen Jeffress Hader Woodruff Burnes Guerra Claudio Albers Wilson (williams/barnes if they figure it out) Chase That bullpen would be legit
  11. Just to compare some recent big RP signings Adam Ottovino - 3 year 27 million (AAV = 9 mil) Zach Britton - 3 year (AAV = 13 mil) - 39 million Andew Miller - 2 year 25 million (AAV = 12.5 mil), with a 3rd year if he pitches >110 innings Wade Davis - 3 year 52 million (AAV = 17.3 mil), 4 year vesting option if he pitches >30 games in the last year Chapman - 5 year 86 million dollars (AAV = 17.2 mil) Kenly Jansen 5 year 80 million (AAV = 16 mil) I think kimbrel looking still looking for 5-6 year contact at 15-18 mil per year, which is the issue. This is his probably his last chance at a huge contract. I think a 1 year 18 million contract would be a good deal for both sides (that would make him the highest AAV of any RP, and then the risk is lower for the team). Kimbrel would get another shot at the market next year I wouldn't go any more than 3 years; I think the wade davis contract would be the most reasonable for a long-term deal, maybe a creative vesting option Kimbrel scares me after seeing what happened to holland last year, obviously kimbrel is a better pitcher. Also, would not like to have a mark melancon contract for the next couple of years 4 year 62 million...
  12. Do Thames and Gamel get the start today? Cain Yelich Thames Shaw Grandal Moose Gamel Arcia Chacin Mikolas in 2018 vs RHB .191 /.240 /.264 vs LHB .279 /.307 / .415
  13. The 2-7 hitters all end the season with 30+ dingers each! Taylor Williams and Jacob Barnes get an opportunity early on and breakout. Adding more bullpen studs. Peralta, Woodruff and Burnes all earn their right to stay in the rotation all year. Brewers are burdened with finding ways to keep their innings reasonable for this year.
