  1. Sign Kimbrel > BC92 > wrong Cheapskate > Nutting > Pirates owner Attanasio > ????? Time will tell(next year we should have a better idea)if we make the playoffs again and at least get to the DS, then a Payroll ~ 20 mil higher next year with at least that much extra revenue, would be reasonable, assuming we’re really trying to win, and not re-tool.
  2. Ok, he’s a below ave player, not good, but still an upgrade over Arcia, because, anyone would be an upgrade over Arcia during the regular season. But, Maybe Arcia can flip the switch, in the playoffs, like he did last year.
  3. There were a few posters that mentioned him as an option, but only one that really got upset. Of course, he posted about it a lot, so it seemed like more consternation than it probably was. It was me. 2.8 million. That’s the total cost in prospects & money for Galvis. Don’t know what he would have done for MKE, but if no better, STILL AN UPGRADE over the worst hitter in baseball. My opinion. That includes a million $ buyout, or 5.5 million option for next year.
  4. At least use some stats that are approaching being meaningful in that small sample. His average exit velocity is well below average at 83.6. His barrel rate is just awful, one of the worst in baseball. His xwOBA is .286 which is also well below average. His walk rate is downright ugly. The only really good thing he is doing right now is not striking out and that carries a good bit of value in today's game imo. His launch angle is also decent so he is at least hitting the ball in the proper plane. The samples are too small for any stat to really capture things so far but overall Dubon's stats don't paint a very pretty picture so far. You and Sveum and Lathund sure know your Analytic’s. I sure feel better after reading your analysis.
  5. Ha. Ok. Me too.
  6. Sure. Good low leverage mop up arms, the both of them. Barnes actually lost 3 ticks sometime in 2017. Never liked either of them, outside of Barnes in early 17 for just a bit. I’m not going nuts over Black. Odds off gaining enough command to close > 25%. But to still be an effective pen arm > 60%.
  7. Black has way way way way better stuff than the 2 mental midgets that you just mentioned. Command. It’s that simple. Right? Go take a look at what Barnes did through around mid June last year and let me know how many years and how long of an extension you'd have given him? Simple, obvious, this guy had figured it out. He also throws 99 with a big slider, I'd pretty confidently say his slider bites more than Blacks. No, actually Barnes lost 3+ ticks, commented on that in February, never liked those two. Sorry neither of them ever hit 105 on the gun . Let’s get back to my extension’s: Hiura > 8 years Grisham > 8 years Lyles > 2/3 years Pomeranz 2/3 years That’s it. Those are my extension’s. Never wanted any more to anyone other than these. Even more fervent in my belief they should be extended now than before, when I first said extend. I called for Hiura extension before they called him, to avoid the super 2 game. Would have already saved millions, especially with the first 2.
  8. Black has way way way way better stuff than the 2 mental midgets that you just mentioned. Command. It’s that simple. Right?
  9. Yep, obviously yesterday's result is not ideal, but the command of his pitches was crap. He couldn't get his breaking ball over, and when you are forced to groove a FB, it doesn't matter how fast it is. I'm still optimistic about his chances of being a solid late inning pen option. I don't think anyone is calling him a future closer quite yet, though. Well I bet someone is saying it...haha He’s definitely a potential future closer. But a lot has to go right with him for that to happen, and I think we all know what that is, command of his pitches. Simple.
  10. We'll probably never know whether Smith was ever on the table for Dubon, but given the choice of a partial season of Smith or a partial season of Pomeranz, and 6 years of Black, I think I'd choose the latter. Given his age and lack of track record, I'm still not sure we get 1 more year of Black, let alone 6. I don't know what to make of Black so far. He's gotten the job done for the most part, but there hasn't been much substance to it. It's been a lot more pitching to contact than I would have expected. But if he can keep the walks low that is a good sign. Great take on Black. He’s hard to barrel, so contact ok, as long as his bb’s stay low, he should continue to be effective. Imo, he has a governor on his power, otherwise we’d have seen 102. But if he can ever truly command his pitches, he’d be unhittable.
  11. If we trade Yelich after 2020, and he has another year, like this year, we easily can get back 3-4 top 100 players. So that would be 3 MVP type years for free. So yeah, ridiculously lop sided trade.
  12. Stearns knew what he was doing with this trade. Pomeranz alone, imo, makes this trade. Black is the bonus. Hoping to see Pomeranz signed, and back next year in our pen. Trust Stearns discernment on the prospect Dubon. Great trade.
  13. Should be up soon, can use his unhittable stuff to go with Devin throwing his nasty stuff, giving us something we’ve been lacking all year > K’s in high leverage situations, other than hader.
  14. I’ll try to do better mr Brew. Thanks for your kind words and advice yet again.
  15. It's not a dig, it's showing the truth. With Yamamoto doing well with Miami, he's on here telling everyone how he proclaimed Yamamoto was the piece that terrified him at the thought of losing when the Yelich trade was made. He said nothing of the sort. In general, everyone here should rest comfortably that the trade was a slam dunk, home run. Even if all 4 Marlins end up contributing as major leaguers, we don't need people being revisionist about the deal. The Brewers got more than they possibly could have asked for. Well then, how many of us, including me for sure, would want harmless, innocuous statements that we’ve made, researched thru the archives, and thrown back in our face. I know I don’t. I’ve always found TJs posts to be extremely interesting and thoughtful, just like yours TBBC. I cringed reading that, thinking of all the stupid things I said.
