    Jackson Chourio is not in Aguilas’ starting lineup tonight, so if he’s returning to action in Venezuela it’d apparently be for Aguilas’ final 3 games of the Round Robin (Thursday, Friday and Sunday). His team is presently tied for third place at 6-6. The top 2 teams will qualify for the championship series.

    Jeez, I didn't realize that Eduardo Garcia had gotten injured in Venezuela (stemming from an HBP on January 11) - which Google Translate converted to "The rest of the time was lost due to a fracture that did not displace the distal tertiary of the cuboid, which suffered in the dominant game, against Caribes de Anzoátegui." A different tweet says "Suffered a non-displaced fracture in the ulna. He will miss the rest of the season"

    In a re-play of Saturday's road victory which was subsequently (and some would say controversially) annulled, Steward Berroa and his Aguilas teammates dropped a close one 8-7 in ten innings, walking home the winning run on 4 pitches. As such, Toros advances to the championship series against Escogido, while Aguilas are sent home after finishing the Round Robin in 3rd place. Berroa went 1-for-4 with a walk, stolen base and run scored, manning right field.

    Aguilas trailed Toros 2-0, 9 outs from being eliminated from the championship race, but stormed back for a 6-2 victory to tie them in the standings with 1 Round Robin game remaining today. Steward Berroa walked twice, had a sacrifice bunt and scored a run, playing right field.

    Thanks for this. It's kind of fun to make these projections. If I may, I'd consider adding: P: Drew Rom, Thomas Pannone, Garrett Stallings, Sammy Peralta, Gerson Garabito, Will Childers, Will Rudy, Russell Smith, Cam Wagoner, Yorman Galindez, Edwin Jimenez, Jose Nova, Enniel Cortez, Bryan Rivera, Eric Prado, Daurys Mora C: Ramon Rodriguez, David Garcia, Andrick Nava INF: Mike Boeve, Tayden Hall, Daniel Guilarte OF: Kay-Lan Nicasia, Luiyin Alastre For me, these kinds of additions push Wichrowski and Wood back down to AA, Dinges (gotta work on defense, I assume) and Baez to High-A, and Di Turi to Low-A, but I'm more bullish on Adamczewski possibly getting the aggressive push to the AA outfield (we'll see). Other minor things: I assume that 2-way player Quinton Low (last played in 2023) will just focus on pitching Broca got to toss 10.2 innings in AA last year, so I assume that's where he'll commence in 2026 Jack Hostetler's injury recovery timeline won't likely have him ready to start the season

    I might be wrong, but I think fringe catchers are struggling to get MLB contracts this year: Eric Haase, Yohel Pozo (split contract), Jose Herrera, Ali Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro, Sam Huff. Maybe that means we can sign Jonah Heim for three cents, figuring he’ll deliver better production in a clear back-up role in light of less daily wear-and-tear.

    In the D.R., Steward Berroa and Aguilas fended off a late comeback to win 5-4 over Gigantes, with Berroa going 1-for-3 with a walk, RBI and run scored while manning right field. Their record is 9-7, putting them in 3rd place, 1 game behind Toros with 2 Round Robin games remaining. The top 2 teams will play a best-of-7 championship series.

    Our High-A club really struggled in 2025, giving them fewer players ready for AA ball, in my opinion. That’s why I was partly surprised that we didn’t protect Hedbert Perez or Garrett Spain in the MILB portion of the Rule 5 draft. But yeah, I assume we may push several key hitting prospects to AAA (Pratt, Wilken, Lara, Adams), limiting PAs for AAA veterans a bit more than usual.

    Aguilas went small ball to grab a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Gigantes in 11 innings, keeping them tied for second with 4 games remaining in the Dominican Republic Round Robin. OF Steward Berroa led off and played left field, going 0-for-2 with a walk, 2 stolen bases and 2 sacrifice bunts.

    In the D.R., Steward Berroa went 2-for-5 with a triple, walk, 2 RBIs and a stolen base in Aguilas’ 9-3 victory which brought them into a tie for 2nd place. He led off and played both corner outfield spots. In Venezuela, Eduardo Garcia went 0-for-3 with an HBP and a K while playing first base in Cardenales’ 11-inning 5-4 loss. He appears to have stayed on the basepaths, but not returned on defense after the 8th inning HBP.

    It's early days, obviously, but I'm assuming that Dickinson will mainly man 2nd base. Filippo Di Turi's miserable 2nd half in 2025 may see him back in Wilson at 3rd base in 2026. The first base job appears open, with no obvious preferred player to fill it. Juan Ortuno (5'8") last played there in 2024, Tyler Rodriguez (5'10") in 2023. Jadyn Fielder (6'1") has never played the position.

    Eduardo Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, walk and 2 RBIs while playing first base as Cardenales routed Bravos 21-9 in Venezuela to improve their Round Robin record to 4-0. They've 12 games remaining, before the top two teams compete for the championship. In the Dominican Republic, Steward Berroa went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base while leading off and playing left field, but Aguilas fell 8-3 to Leones. Their Round Robin record is now 6-6, sitting 1 game behind Toros in 3rd place with 6 games remaining.
