Low-A Carolina has dropped to 2nd place, but can win 2 games at Salem today. LHP Wande Torres (5.28 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 73.1 IP) starts the first game and RF Handelfry Encarnacion comes in with a 6-game hitting streak. C Kevin Garcia sees his first action in 10 days. -

Wisconsin and Beloit are very busy blowing opportunities up to the 7th inning stretch, combining to go 2-for-19 with runners in scoring position thus far. Wisconsin trails 3-2. Tayden Hall tripled and scored on a Luiyin Alastre single. Marco Dinges has a double (stranded). Andrew Fischer and Luis Pena are a combined 0-for-8. Jesus Broca is pitching his 2nd inning of relief of Ryan Birchard (5 IP, 3 R, 5 Ks), with Josh Adamczewski, Dinges and Luis Castillo due up in the next half inning.
-
The bad news is that Eric Bitonti K'd to strand the potential game-tying runs on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the 5th inning, dropping the team to 1-for-7 with RISP and 5 LOB (vs. 0-for-1, 1 LOB for Salem). The good news is that this is a 9-inning game, since it's a continuation of yesterday's game. C'mon Mudcats! Encarnacion, Anderson and Di Turi are due up in the top of the 6th inning. Dorchies didn't allow any hits over the 3rd to 5th frames (retiring 10 of 11; 1 walk), but they trail 3-1.
-
Heckuva turnaround for Biloxi, scoring 1 in the 3rd (Cooper Pratt double) and 2 in the 5th (Luis Lara single) to tie up Chattanooga 3-3, falling behind again 4-3 in the 6th inning, then putting up a game-winning 4-spot in the bottom of the 6th inning (Garrett Spain grand salami) to win the first game of today's doubleheader 7-4. Brettt Wichrowski threw 3 shutout innings after the rough start and Travis MacGregor earned his first save.
-
Jeez - bad start for Carolina. They gave up an infield hit to the first batter and the second doubled to right field, with both runners scoring on an error. In addition to swapping in Ethan Dorchies for Wande Torres (who didn't actually pitch in the suspended game yesterday), the team brought in Luis Lameda for Brady Ebel. Maybe we'll still see Torres and Ebel in the nightcap. Mudcats trail 3-0...oh, now 3-1 after back-to-back-to-back hits in the 5th inning, the last a Luis Lameda RBI double.
-
Welp - I guess the extra day of rest didn't help Mr. Wichrowski: 3 runs on 5 hits thru 2 innings. At least Matt Wood threw out a basestealer. Two 2nd inning walks, a balk and an early replacement of Chattanooga's center fielder hasn't resulted in any runs for Biloxi yet (Vargas fly out, Perez fly out with Lara in scoring position).

Transactions: RHP Ryan Middendorf released by AA Biloxi Game Action: Final: Nashville 8, Louisville 7 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Delgado's RBI Single Propels Sounds to Back-and-Forth Win Over Bats What an entertaining game this was for the players and 6,438 home fans, with dramatic lead changes in each of the 5th, 6th and 7th innings. C Jorge Alfaro (2-for-3, HR, HBP, 2 RBIs, SB) smacked a 111.7mph single to lead off the 3rd inning, but Nashville failed to score and trailed 3-0 when he came up again in the bottom of the 5th inning, depositing this one 454 feet for a 2-run shot: Following Alfaro’s blast, the next four Sounds reached base via walk or hit, with OF Tyler Black (2-for-4, walk, RBI, SB) putting the team in front: RHP Garrett Stallings (5 IP, 6 R, 3 Ks) allowed 5 hits and 3 runs early before retiring 11 batters in a row to get through 5 innings. He then promptly ran out of gas, allowing 4 consecutive hits to open the 6th inning as Nashville found itself behind again at 6-5. A crazy bottom of the 7th inning saw Nashville nearly squander an inning-opening Black walk and DH Jeferson Quero double (2-for-4, RBI), as SS Oliver Dunn’s 105.1mph grounder to short resulted in a 6-3-2 double play. Thankfully, OF Daz Cameron and red-hot Raynel Delgado (2-for-3, triple, RBI, SB) followed with clutch 2-out singles: Sounds’ Extras: Big kudos to the bullpen of RHP Justin Yeager, rehabbing LHP Rob Zastryzny, RHP Easton McGee and RHP Joel Payamps for combining on 4 innings of 1-run base in this back-and-forth contest. Payamps (94.6mph peak velocity) registered his 5th AAA save of 2025 with 2 strikeouts in a 3-up, 3-down 9th inning. Six different Sounds’ players each stole one base to please the home crowd, including 2B Ethan Murray (1-for-3, walk, RBI, SB) and pinch runner Jared Oliva (40th swipe of 2025). Neither rehabbing Jake Bauers nor SS Freddy Zamora were in the lineup, with some speculating that they may be needed in Milwaukee to replace the injured Joey Ortiz (more news pending). Friday’s outlook: Nashville aims to clinch a series victory, with LHP Josh Maciejewski and RHP Abdiel Mendoza likely to tag-team as innings-eaters. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Rainout: Chattanooga at Biloxi Via the Shuckers’ website, rainout details: Shuckers, Lookouts Postponed on Thursday After consecutive home losses with starting pitchers throwing on 4 days’ rest, perhaps this unscheduled off day will help the team re-set before Friday’s doubleheader. Friday’s outlook: RHP Brett Wichrowski (3.45 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in 78 1/3 IP) is expected to start at least one of the contests, though the other starter has yet to be named. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 6, Beloit 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Big Late Hits Lead Rattlers to Win Despite 10 at-bats with runners in scoring position over the first 6 innings, Wisconsin had only plated 1 run OF Kay-Lan Nicasia’s RBI double) to that point, so it fell to 1B Tayden Hall and C Blayberg Diaz (1-for-3, HBP, 2 RBIs) to make something happen with 1-on and 2 outs, down 2-1 in the top of the 8th inning. Walk-master Hall (.162 average, .347 OBP) drew a full count walk before Diaz’s clutch double to the opposite field on a 1-2 pitch: The linked game reports includes many additional game details and video highlights, while @biedergb in our Minor League Forum also explained how LHP Anthony Flores escaped a self-induced jam while leading 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning: “That's some Houdini right there. Walks (and HBP) the bases loaded. Then gets a huge strike out looking - fastball right down the middle. Next batter - grounder right to Fischer, to SS Made to first and it’s an inning ending double play. Just a routine 5-6-3 DP right?” Starting RHP Tanner Gillis once again delivered a solid performance: 6 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks in 80 pitches and now sports an ERA of 2.20 in his first Minor League campaign. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Well done to RHPs Miles Langhorne (1 K) and Aaron Rund (1 K) on a scoreless inning of 3-up, 3-down relief for each. The teams exchanged outfield assists at home in the 3rd inning, with OF Luiyin Alastre helping out his starting pitcher. Every starting Wisconsin position player reached base via hit or walk, while OF Daniel Guilarte also came through with a 2-run single off the bench. Friday’s outlook: RHP Ryan Birchard had a tough luck loss last week (5 1/3 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 5 Ks) and seeks to lead Wisconsin to a 3-1 series lead. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Rainout: Carolina at Salem (suspended in bottom of 1st inning) Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats and Salem Suspended Thursday Rains won out after a 3-up, 3-down top of the first inning for the Mudcats, but thankfully scheduled starting LHP Wande Torres didn’t throw any pitches. It was also good to see OF Tyler Rodriguez back in the starting lineup for the first time in 6 days. A victory elsewhere by Fredericksburg means that Carolina and the Nationals are now tied in the Carolina League North second half standings, so the Mudcats need to pick up the winning pace. Friday’s outlook: Torres (5.28 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 73 1/3 IP) should start one of the doubleheader games, while 18-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies (2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 38 Low-A IP) is also scheduled to start. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, six Minor League affiliate games are on top, starting with the Mudcats resuming Thursday’s suspended game at 4:30pm. The Milwaukee Brewers also return home to battle the Giants at 7:10pm. Thurs. 8/21 - No Big-League Game to Tempt Us Tonight
Ro Mueller replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Quite the back-and-forth game in Nashville. Stallings conceded 3 runs early, Alfaro hit one 454 feet to spark a 5-run 5th inning. However, Stallings allowed 4 consecutive hits to start the 6th inning, putting Nashville behind again 6-5. Delgado tripled and scored in the bottom half of the inning, but then Zastryzny conceded a triple and a run in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, Black walked, Quero doubled to opposite field, then Dunn hit a 105.1mph grounder to short...which resulted in a 6-3-2 double play. Ugh. But Daz hit the next pitch 110.3mph into center field to tie it. Then Delgado took strike 3, but it was called a ball and followed with a 104.7mph run-scoring single. 8-7 Sounds thru 7 innings. Easton McGee is pitching. -
