  1. I think RHP Josh Lindblom could use a re-set. That’s 2 homers given up in the first inning, after 4 in his last start. Norfolk 3, Nashville 0.
  2. Carolina’s up 3-2 going into the final (7th) inning of Game 1, with RHPs Stiven Cruz and Brannon Jordan striking 8 Pelicans in 6 innings thus far. Hang on men!
  3. The Sounds host the Tides in a doubleheader today, aiming to turn around a 1-0 series deficit and end a 3-game skid. RHP Josh Lindblom needs a bounce-back game after yielding 11 runs over his last two starts. DH/OF Jonathan Davis has reached base in 19 straight games:
  4. AA Biloxi aims to take a 2-1 series lead at home against Tennessee, as starting RHP Noah Zavolas continues to round into form (5 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks last outing). 1B Thomas Dillard has reached base in 11 straight games, including a 1-hit, 3-walk game yesterday:
  5. The Timber Rattlers need a win today in Beloit to avoid a 3-0 series deficit, with RHP Ryne Moore (9.18 ERA in High-A, 2.31 ERA in Low-A) making his 5th appearance for Wisconsin. Although most of the offense has been struggling, 2B Jose Acosta comes in with a 5-game hitting streak:
  6. Carolina and Myrtle Beach are playing a doubleheader today (2 x 7-inning games) and RHP Stiven Cruz (4.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 12.1 K/9) gets the start in the first game, as the Mudcats try to even up this week's series 1-1:

  8. - INF/OF Pablo Reyes optioned from MLB Brewers to AAA Nashville - RHP Rafael Garcia is now listed on High-A Wisconsin's 60-day injured list - RHP Logan Henderson is now listed on High-A Wisconsin's 60-day injured list
  9. AAA Nashville was rained out at home in yesterday's attempted series opener against Norfolk, so puts out the same lineup as was planned. LHP Ethan Small (1.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 11.5 K/9 in 38 1/3 innings) will see his first action since his May 30 debut outing with the Brewers:
  10. After a close loss in the series opener in Beloit, High-A Wisconsin turns to dominant LHP Antoine Kelly (3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 11.8 K/9 in 48 innings) to square things up. C Alex Hall (4-for-11 with 4 RBIs over last 3 games) is getting more playing time in Darrien Miller's apparently continued absence:
  11. RF Joey Wiemer is BACK(!!) after missing the last 6 games. Hopefully he's just the right medicine Biloxi needs to snap its 4-game losing skid. Formidable LHP Brandon Knarr (1.57 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 10.2 K/9 in 57 1/3 innings in High-A) makes his debut in AA after yesterday's call-up:
  12. After letting Game One slip away, Low-A Carolina turns to RHP Stiven Cruz (4.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 12.1 K/9 in 16 1/3 innings)) to start today's contest at home against the Pelicans. LF Hedbert Perez has homered in 2 of his last 3 games (5-for-12 in the period):
  13. Downright bizarre to have a night where the losing pitchers are Hader, Hasler, Cam Robinson and Vassalotti.
  14. In ACL Brewers Blue land, 19-year old OF Jace Avina has recorded his first official hit as a Brewer minor leaguer. The 2021 14th round draft pick did not play last year. And 19-year old OF Luis Medina, he of the $1.3 million signing bonus in July 2019, who did not debut until 2021 and lost some luster with a 5-walk, 45-strikeout .570 OPS season in Arizona last year, has smacked a 3-run homer to give ACL Brewers Blue a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning of their contest.
  15. ...and they have to do it against 24-year old LHP Adam Laskey, who has a perfect 0.00 ERA in 18 2/3 innings of work to start the season.
  16. Carolina will need to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th to tie it back up.
  17. Beloit's bullpen retired the final 11 Timber Rattler hitters in order, really giving their offense a chance to pull it out. Better luck tomorrow Wisconsin!
  18. Vassalotti escaped without further damage, but Carolina failed to muster anything in the bottom of the 9th inning. They're headed to extras at home against Myrtle Beach.
  19. Beloit follows that run-scoring single with an RBI triple on an 0-2 pitch to take a 5-4 lead over Wisconsin. if they're doing this against Wisconsin's best in Cam Robinson, you can only tip your cap.
  20. And in Beloit, RHP Cam Robinson gives up a rare run to tie the game 4-4 in the 8th inning. He was done in by an infield single, with the runner moving to 2nd and 3rd on ground outs, then an RBI single. ...and my night was going so well...
  21. Argh. A .196-hitting Myrtle Beach player pulls an 0-2 pitch to right field, tying the game 8-8.
  22. Finally, finally, finally...RHP Michele Vassalotti comes into the game.
  23. Another long at-bat. Another walk. Figueroa is up to 93 pitches now, well above his previous peak of 79. The bases are loaded in the top of the 9th inning, still with 1 out and the Mudcats leading 8-6.
  24. And of course, the 3rd hitter of the inning fouls off 4 pitches and ultimately walks, putting 2 men on with 1 out, while stretching Figueroa's pitch count to 85 pitches. Yet he will continue.
  25. The Mudcats missed a good chance to add to their 8-6 lead, stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th inning after loading them with one out. RHP Jefferson Figueroa remains in the game, trying to close out this tough Myrtle Beach squad in his 5th inning of work.
