Despite balking a runner to third base in the 1st inning and later facing a 1st and 3rd, nobody out situation in the 4th inning, Misiorowski bore down each time to keep all baserunners in check, topping out at 98.8mph in the 1st inning and 96.6mph in the 5th inning. For those keeping track of Misiorowski’s ability to master a third pitch, the game log registered Jacob as throwing 45 four-seam fastballs, 25 sliders and 9 curveballs – 79 total pitches, 52 strikes. Of the 9 curves, 5 went for strikes (2 swinging, 2 foul balls, 1 looking). Three hits in 10 innings by Nashville’s offense was a big letdown behind that pitching performance. In fact, the Sounds’ only run came on this 1st inning little league homer by OF Jared Oliva (2-for-4): DH Caleb Durbin (1-for-4) led off the bottom of the 6th inning with a double, but his teammates failed to plate him, after which Jacksonville came through with the clutch plays as Nashville wilted: Old friend Brian Navaretto caught 2B Anthony Seigler (29 of 32 in steal attempts in 2024) attempting steal second in the 7th inning; The Jumbo Shrimp’s Jacob Berry fought off 5 foul balls before plating the ghost runner on a sacrifice fly against RHP Garrett Stallings to open the 10th inning and give Jacksonville its first lead; and In his second inning of work, their closer Carlos Roa discovered extra ammunition when facing a 2-on, nobody out situation in the bottom of the 10th inning, escalating to up to 98.3mph to strike out OFs Jimmy Herron and Garrett Spain before retiring INF Raynel Delgado on a pop out after an 8-pitch battle. Sounds’ Extras: The teams combined to go 1-for-18 with runners in scoring position in front of 4,671 fans at First Horizon Park, with 30-year old newcomer RHP Jesus Liranzo making his Brewers’ organizational debut and allowing a double and game-tying single in the 7th inning. Liranzo showed interesting velocity (hitting 97.4mph), but needs to locate better to garner strikeouts. Kudos to relievers Sam McWilliams, Tyler Jay, Vinny Nittoli, Ryan Middendorf and even Stallings, who combined on 4 1/3 innings with no earned runs and 9 strikeouts, although Jay threw just one pitch and Stallings’ wild pitch contributed to the ghost runner coming home. Nittoli used the challenge system to avoid a 2-on, nobody out situation in the 8th inning, switching a walk into a deserved strikeout. We know they can both hit, but Herron and INF Andruw Monasterio had a disappointing opening series, combining to go 2-for-22, including 0-for-7 today. Next week’s outlook: As usual, Monday is a Minor League off day. The Sounds (1-2) travel to face Braves’ affiliate Gwinnett (0-3) for a 6-game set commencing on Tuesday. Although no starter has been named, 30-year old LHP Bruce Zimmermann is the most likely option. AA Biloxi, High-A Wisconsin and Low-A Carolina will each start their seasons this Friday. Seigler walked, but Herron (bad start to season) and pinch hitter Spain K’d, leaving it to pinch hitter Raynel Delgado. Delgado worked an 8-pitch at bat but popped out to end it. Facing his 7th batter in his 2nd inning of work, opposing RHP Christian Roa found another velocity level, throwing 98.3mph to Delgado. Tip of the cap to him. Sounds fall 2-1, garnering just 3 hits in 10 innings. Sigh.

23-year old Jacob Berry fouled off 5 pitches before knocking in the ghost runner via sac fly off Stallings to give Jacksonville its first lead at 2-1. Seigler, Herron and maybe some pinch hitters are due up to attempt to tie it or hopefully win.

K, ground out, shallow fly. To the 10th tied 1-1 with the series hanging in the balance. It’s time for 27-year old RHP Garrett Stallings to make his first appearance of 2025.

Middendorf mows them down with 3 straight Ks, topping out at 96.4mph. Oliva, EMJ, Alfaro, Seigler and Herron are due up in the bottom of the 9th.

RHP Ryan Middendorf comes in for the 9th inning after a 3-up, 3-down 8th inning by the Sounds. Still 1-1.

An inning-opening double, then 2 strikes mistakenly called balls nearly did in Vinny Nittoli, but there’s a pitch challenge system! That last mistake was reversed and a strikeout correctly called instead. He then got 3 whiffs by De Los Santos and escaped with a groundout. Nittoli’s peak velocity was 92.7mph.

Ah. Anthony Seigler stole 29 of 32 bases last season, but gets thrown out by old friend Brian Navarreto trying for 2nd base here in the 7th inning. Then Jimmy Herron walked and we chose not to pinch hit Delgado for Adam Hall (K’d on 3 pitches). RHP Vinny Nittoli comes in for the 8th inning, after LHP Tyler Jay threw a whopping one pitch (to end the 7th).

Liranzo hit 97.4mph, but nearly everything he threw was over the heart of the plate. A double and an RBI have tied it up. On to the bottom of the 7th inning, tied 1-1.

Now, 30-year old RHP Jesus Liranzo gets the 7th inning for his Brewers’ organizational debut. The Sounds are still clinging to a 1-0 lead.

Misiorowksi exits after 5 scoreless innings (79 pitches, 52 strikes), as 29-year old RHP Sam McWilliams makes his 2025 debut. A reliever since 2021, McWilliams has not yet found success in AAA (8.08 ERA in 137 career AAA IP with 166 Ks). He K’s the side in the 6th, hitting 95.3mph.

Le Mis is through 4 scoreless now, impressively escaping a 1st and 3rd, nobody out situation (walk, single) here by K’ing Troy Johnston, jamming Albert Almora Jr. into a shallow fly out and then inducing a ground out. Sounds still lead 1-0.

Misiorowski walked the opening batter and had a balk, but hit 98.8mph and K'd 3 straight to keep it scoreless. CF Jared Oliva then got a little league homer on a hard hit single (and error) to center for an early 1-0 lead.

Today’s rubber match to decide the 3-game home series between AAA Nashville and Jacksonville sees 22-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski make his 2025 debut, with INF/OF Adam Hall and INF Freddy Zamora also making their first starts of the year.

The AAA Nashville Sounds’ 2025 Season Opener has them hosting the Marlins’ Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. 23-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez gets the start, while newcomers Caleb Durbin, Jared Oliva, Jorge Alfaro, Raynel Delgado, Jimmy Herron and Garrett Spain grace the lineup.
