    Brad Hawpe is apparently on the verge of signing a Minor League Deal with an invite. I think he makes perfect sense for the Crew. Power lefty bat, can play LF, RF, and 1B.Almost guaranteed to be better than Brad Nelson.

    You're correct. I should probably sleep. But the way this day is going, I'm afraid I'll miss at least two more transactions. Still concerned about viable power off the bench, but that's for another thread. Good luck, Casey.

    I'll miss Casey. Prolonged slump nonwithstanding, I was looking forward to having him as a veteran power bat off of the bench. The lack of experience off of the bench at this point scares the crap out of me. This buried us last year. We need at least one (perhaps two) outfielders, and someone who back up at SS/2B. I presume Taylor Green will be with the team for 2012 in a reserve role. And no, Doug, Travis Ishikawa isn't benchworthy.

    I'm mildly surprised that no one's signed Ryan Church yet. Is his health that compromised? I'd like him just fine in Cat's spot, albeit he's a left-hander.

    The worst-case scenario of Lopez accepting arbitration (he won't), settling in at second base for a year, and Weeks being moved to CF for 2010 does not exactly make me sick to my stomach. Not a dream scenario, but not horrendous.

    Our party tried that this summer. We regret it copiously. Despite the precautions, it still turned out to be greasy, grotesquely salty vodka. Not even usable in Bloody Marys.
