I don't mind that he went for the money. But 1) to go to the Cubs. That is pretty rotten. And 2) his self-justification that he was helping other managers by raising the pay-bar, but in the process getting one fired. He really showed his true character with that one.

I'm not sure why people are upset at Coun$ell. I've watched him for years and I think I know the man pretty well. He doesn't care about money. He's got plenty in his bank account. More important, he's way too loyal to take the job with the Mets.

However, after the team traded its ace, Corbin Burnes, to Baltimore, its rotation might not be good enough to carry the club in 2024. More of the onus has been placed on Milwaukee’s offense, which ranks 20th in projected WAR for the upcoming season. How they can defy the odds: It’s all about the youth. Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Brice Turang, Joey Ortiz and DL Hall are all slated to play sizable roles for Milwaukee alongside Jackson Chourio (MLB Pipeline’s No. 2 overall prospect) in 2024. If Chourio can make an immediate impact and some of their other inexperienced players also step up, the Brewers should remain competitive in a division that isn’t exactly a buzzsaw.
