  1. I would say the same thing if I was going to a rival team and taking the money.
  2. He's a very good manager. But he's also capable of taking the $$ knowing that it will anger people who really liked him and supported him, with the self-delusional or self-rationalizing phrase that he's helping other managers.
  3. I want to hear more about CC's love and loyalty to Whitefish Bay, and how much he doesn't care about money because he's not that kind of guy and already has millions in the bank.
  4. I really like Miley. He's been great for us in two stints. But it's time for him to make some serious money. I expect to see him in a Mets uniform.
  5. Glad to see it. Rea gave us a lot and kept us in the race for the division. I hope finds more ways to be effective in the off-season.
  6. Consider this. How many pitchers have improved since joining the Brewers? How many hitters have improved? How many hitters have gotten worse? How many hitters did better when they went to other teams?
  7. I guess all that talk about CC wanting a year off to watch his sons play baseball was apparently not accurate. They Mets can have the hitting coaches. Our pitching coach needs a hefty raise.
  8. I love the optimism of this post about the Brewers going to their first World Series.
  9. A manager does a lot more than making rosters and managing games. He's involved with the draft, player development, trades, outreach in the US and to countries south, hiring coaches and other personal, etc. But most of all, if he's good, he creates an atmosphere of respect and professionalism. He creates good working relationships with all his players. CC does that. Will that be difficult to replace? Absolutely. There aren't many guys like him and Bruce Bochy walking the planet.
  10. I would not criticize a guy who took another job in any profession that was better for him and his family.
  11. Is it possible to coach grit and clutch play when the lights are brightest and everything is on the line?
  12. For what it's worth, another "insider" perspective. https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/insider_shares_if_brewers_craig_counsell_will_consider_mets_opening/s1_13132_39432809 It was recently reported the Mets are looking to hire somebody from outside the organization to replace Showalter and also learned that Texas Rangers associate manager Will Venable declined a request to interview with the National League East club. "Counsell’s father, John, was a longtime Brewers employee, and Counsell still lives with his family in Whitefish Bay, Wisc., where he graduated from high school," Martino explained. "...Two league sources familiar with the situation said on Monday that Counsell would indeed embrace New York." Counsell has thus far accumulated a career 707-625 regular-season record with the Brewers and took Milwaukee to the playoffs each year from 2018 through 2021 and again in 2023. Meanwhile, this year's edition of the Mets was arguably MLB's most disappointing team and finished at 75-87. MLB insider Joel Sherman of the New York Post noted ahead of this past weekend that "it is far from a slam dunk that Stearns is just biding time and will ultimately hire" Counsell. On Monday, Martino insisted the Mets "plan to conduct a wide-ranging manager search" and won't "automatically anoint a particular candidate," even if that candidate is the proven 53-year-old who previously worked under Stearns.
  13. $7 million doubles his current salary. That's not chickenfeed. That's the question: Will Attenasio pay him what he's worth?
  14. Gamers. They show up in the big games in the big moments and don't constantly hit into double plays.
  15. Ketel Marte is nails.
  16. I don't know if this makes anyone's priority list, but when they close the roof on a muggy day, the stadium is a petri dish in a sauna and no moving air. It's unbearable. Let's fix that, why don't we.
  17. General parking for the playoff game we went to was $35. If I had known, I would have parked away and walked.
  18. We need guys who are nails when it matters.
  19. Which is the best percentage hitting team in the 2023 postseason so far?
  20. Crazy to see the Dodgers swept. I was deeply unhappy when the Brewers were swept, but that's how baseball works sometimes. Our heroes don't get it done. I guess somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright, the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light.
  21. Arnold asked about trading Burnes. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2023/10/10/brewers-general-manager-matt-arnold-expects-pitcher-corbin-burnes-to-return-in-2024/71125782007/ There will be ample speculation, but Arnold said he anticipated Burnes being back next season. “We'll see how it plays out over the course of the offseason, but I would expect him to be here next year,” Arnold said. “We can never close the door on any conversations, as you guys know. That's just the reality of where we are, but we know that he is a very, very valuable member of our franchise.”
  22. I agree that Tellez and Lauer will likely be non-tendered. I'm curious about Houser though. He is a decent addition to the rotation, but $5.5 million seems a lot for what he brings,
  23. Maybe we should re-think our priorities just a little bit. The top 7 hitting teams: 1) Atlanta 2) LA 3) Texas 4) Rays 5) Astros 6) Phillies 7) Twins Top 7 pitching teams 1) BrewCrew 2) Padres 3) Mariners 4) Jays 5) Rays 6) Twins 7) Orioles
  24. I'm guessing he'll live in Connecticut or Jersey.
