Being Div. Champs is an excellent, wholly proper, and well-deserved reward for being faithful and steadfast throughout the ups and downs of a long season. Other NL Central team were the sexy team for a week or 2 here and there, but the Brewers did all the work all season long. The hare vs tortoise metaphor is a good one: Steady wins the race. Nobody deserves more credit than Craig Counsell. I thought he was too dead-pan to be inspiring; but this is yet another of many times when I was glad to be completely wrong. CC for the win! whatever the ESPN (et al.) talking heads say or don't say. It would be beautiful karma for the Crew to win it all.
But for now, let's just win tonight's game!
I wouldn't say "grossly": If a Cub had caught a popup while we're losing 3 straight.... It would get a bit itchy.
BUT, the good news is that IT DON'T MATTER NOW!! And I don't care who we play. I just hope we start hitting again.
If you want to win the division, quit goofing off and win a fleeping game. And the fact that the Packers beat my pathetic Saints has NOTHING to do with my bad attitude!
I am gobsmacked.
Gobsmacked- Chiefly British, informal. Overwhelmed with wonder, surprise, or shock; astounded. A reference to being shocked, as if by a blow (smack) to the mouth (gob), or to clapping a hand to one's mouth.
Props for mentioning the Ok St mascot.
Missed the game and the thread (Grandparents' Day at the kindergarden, y'know). But I was thrilled to look in and see us up 6-0 in the bottom of the 9th. Then another Cubs loss. And grandson's k-garden teacher is very easy on the eyes and has a killer Belgian-French accent, as well. Not a bad day at all!
