  1. FWIW: I have a very limited knowledge of sabermetrics. I don't mock them. I just don't worship them, because we're dealing with humans. It's like backgammon: you can know all the odds, but a lot still rides on the roll of the dice. A baseball manager must read the almost unreadable factor of human attitude and psychology. And there also stuff like weather and other unpredictable variables. Past stats are very valuable, and not to be ignored. But they are no guarantee.
  2. Wow. I wish I had seen they long fly-DP. Guess I'll have to watch the condensed game with my coffee tomorrow
  3. Last I saw, were up 6-0. So stop with those negative waves.
  4. I've been busy. But did someone here say that a .348 BA is not significant? I probably misunderstood the context; but I wish every Brewer were batting .348.
  5. Have I ever mentioned that I think getting Canha was a good move?
  6. Did I see "the Sterio"? Hmmm... definite nickname potential there: Defense from one speaker, Key hits from the other? Better than Monk or Monster maybe? Let's just hope we're arguing about the best cool nickname in the next few weeks!
  7. I'll have to read that a few times to maybe understand it. 😁
  8. Yeah. We scored runs... and there's no dismissing the importance of that, however they get scored! But I looked back at some of our recemt big innings, and it seems they usually involved some walks and maybe an error or 2. I'll take 'em however we get 'em. But we seem to "accept" them as gifts more than we actually "take" them. And I am NEVER wrong! 🙂🤐 PS re Canada: I am a former die-hard Expo fan (Ellis Valentine, Warren Cromartie, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines, Gary Carter, Tim Wallach, Larry Walker, Terry Francona, Vlad Sr. & more). When they went to DC, I had no real team for years... until I chose the Brewers. (Beer was factor.)
  9. True. But it's despite our pathetic offense, which will get us in the end.
  10. Lots of interesting and thoughtful conjecture here about who should have pitched and whether some guys should have bunted, etc. etc. BOTTOM LINE: BREWERS CAN'T HIT! It's pretty simple. Contreras is probably the steadiest, and Adames has his moments, as does Yelich, But it seems that the way we have scored most of our runs this series involves bloops, walks, and errors. This team reminds me too much of some of my daughters' softball teams: a good pitcher or 2, better than average throwing-catching- defense, but just not enough kids who could hit decent pitching. Once we got past our top pitcher or 2, we were at the mercy of any team who could hit; we just couldn't keep up. I know this isn't a great analogy, but the bottom line is that you can't win it all if you cannot hit. And we can't hit. We're gosh-durn lucky to be where we are. With a bit of luck, we'll hang on and win the division. After that, though: we are toast because WE CAN'T HIT. PS- BUGHGHGHGHGH!!!!!
  11. To lose a game is never good, but it happens. But to lose THIS game in THIS way after by wasting a MAGNIFICENT Corbin Burnes gem is utterly disgraceful. It's a rotten stinking pile of shame. Every player who had an AB in this game should give CB a month's salary and offer to be an indentured servant to him and his family for seven years. Oh.... and they might want to learn to hit. DISGUSTING.
  12. Sorry, folks. I can't do this any more today, neither via Gamecast nor 2-minutes later MLB radio. I'llhave more fun taking out the garbage for tomorrow's pick-up.
  13. Not really: It's on our miserable batting. (I dare not call it "hitting.")
  14. You misspelled "disgustingly" before "predictable." Chafin has got to go. (I'd rather see Hiura pitch!)
  15. It figures that Stanton would do something this series.
  16. Great AB for Monk/Monster.. whatever
  17. I follow the NFL and some college football, but really only after baseball season. Uh Oh. back to the game.
  18. I was closely following the Saints' game, true; but I was also still always hoping for a CB no-no.
  19. If I'm Burnes, I'm thinking I shouldn't waste any more of my talent and effort on this team of limp spaghetti bats,
  20. Yankees need to issue a couple of walks and make an error or 2 in order for us to win this one.
