It's possible, but the Padres wore down the Cubs pretty effectively. Still, it would be better if the Brewers were playing again tomorrow, that would really put the pressure on.

I don't feel it was desperation. He's on one day short of normal rest but only threw around 65 pitches in his last outing. Give the Brewers credit, they're just ready.

The Brewers may have just won the series with this single inning. There are real cascading events that happen from Boyd pitching just 2/3rd of an inning.

Both the Padres and Cubs have pretty obvious weaknesses. The Cubs' offense is sputtering and has been for quite some time, and the Padres' offense has little to no power. On the pitching side, the Padres are rolling out the desiccated corpse of Yu Darvish today, while the Cubs are equalling that with Jameson Taillon. Both teams are quite good, but they have significant warts.

Teel was a 30-60 prospect at the time of the trade. If I was the White Sox, my ask would have been something along the lines of Made and Misiorowski. So yeah, big ask, probably a price the Brewers would be (and should be) unwilling to pay.
