  1. Right. Unlike Ortiz, Rengifo, Perkins and Hamilton, I expect results from Frelick.
  2. It was brought up earlier as to how serious the organization is about winning a World Series. Publicly they would say very serious but privately leave out "with the limited resources we have" part, thereby in reality saying they are not serious and they just want to be good enough to keep selling tickets every year. I've already resigned myself to the almost certainty that I will never see a World Series title in my lifetime unless massive changes are made to the system. The Dodgers winning the World Series again this year may be the best thing to happen to us and would bring a lockout for 2027, and even then, it might be pointless because the player's union is just too powerful. I can't imagine why our best players would want to sign extensions here if they want to win a World Series.
  3. We play in a much tougher division than the Braves and Dodgers do, ergo, they have softer schedules than us and will pile up more wins than we will. Plus, they both are better than us. Mark A and Arnold can keep doing what they're doing with the limited resources they have and win division titles, but in the end it's the larger markets with better talent that win the World Series. It's Billy Beane Moneyball all over again.
  4. This weekend was just a reminder that no matter how well you are playing, you don't stand a chance in October.
  5. When Miz, Harrison and TBA are your starters for the Cardinals series, that's a problem.
  6. The most uninteresting 24 hours of baseball I've seen in a while.
  7. Rodriguez coming in to finish this off and save the bullpen. This might get ugly late just like yesterday.
  8. Having Vogelbach as hitting coach is bizarre to me. Might as well have Rob Deer coach hitting.
  9. Yelich is a streaky hitter. He'll have his hot streaks so not too concerned there. Frelick is the one I'm really disappointed in. He's only been a half step above the useless hitters on this team.
  10. And I don't expect them to score any more this game. Even getting a hit is iffy right now.
  11. Yeah, I wish Murphy would've gone with Miz today instead, but I guess he figured to save him for a divisional rival.
  12. Sproat is just too erratic at this point to be trusted to be a part of the rotation.
  13. Hits the batter with two outs to load the bases for Ohtani.
  14. The fans this weekend booing Ohtani like he's Manny Machado.
  15. That's what I thought before his last start, but he showed me something against the Cubs. Then again, maybe it was because it was the Cubs. But yeah, can't be walking batters like that.
  16. Oh man, that horrible news. 44 years removed from that World Series team and I believe he's just the third member of that team to pass away, along with Sutton and Ladd.
  17. I doubt they will try. The organization is too enamored with their Moneyball 2.0 philosophy. All the talk we have here about getting rid of guys like Rengifo, Harrison to improve the left side of the infield along with Perkins, but I just don't see that happening. Arnold is going to ride or die with those guys. We saw this last year. There were one or two glaring weak spots in the roster, specifically the dormant offense down the stretch, and it was exposed against the Dodgers.
  18. Exactly. Arnold's philosophy of team building has been very effective and will win a lot of regular season games, but it would take an incredible amount of luck to get to a World Series much less win it. A black hole 7-9 in the lineup will get exposed big time.
  19. What purpose exactly does Woodford serve? I'm not sure he'd be an effective AAA pitcher.
