    The way the rule is enforced in college hoops, You can have one foot in the lane, and one outside, and that will start the 3-second count. However, if one foot stays outside, you can simply lift the other foot (the one in the lane) and that terminates the count. When he drops it back down in the lane it starts over again. Not saying he doesn't get more than his share of calls, but the 3-second claims are largely false. Don't shoot the messenger.😬

    W/O getting all analytical, I loved the defense played in the 1st three games. Looking at runs scored on balls staying in the park---IOW, without the aid of a home run, balls you were able to make a play on---the Mets scored 2 runs in three games. I have no idea if that's a 'thing' but it's something I noticed. Unable to watch the last half of Sundays' game. Would really have liked to see the work Hudson turned in. As for Chourio, you could see it in the first game. Not once but twice he was looking to go oppo. Doing something like that, with purpose, at age 20. And doing it successfully. I'm sure there will be rough patches, but I've seen all I need to see.

    They might. But I'm partial to the ones where the dialogue is a second or two ahead of the video. On second thought, maybe the new ones still feature that, too.😜

    Even though his K rate is scary high, I agree re Clarke. I see little argument for him staying in AA & would've bet the house he'd be placed in Nashville. Looking at the roster, the entire infield at Biloxi is loaded; I'd describe it as overloaded.

    I'm picking Tennessee to win, but just the thought of Edey going up against Clingan intrigues me. It'd be like one of those bad Japanese monster movies from the 60s. Godzilla vs Whoever.

    I don't do the bracket pools anymore but my wife makes them out at work & many of her picks go along the lines of "Oh, I'm picking Utah over Alabama b/c I really liked Salt Lake City when we spent the night there, remember?" She actually does pretty well.

    You need to kick all the tires in this day & age but personally, assuming health & a normal amount of strength & development I'd be fine with Blackwell starting in Storrs' spot.

    With Crowl & Winter apparently returning, I'm surprised they'd be looking at any 5s. They are looking at the kid leaving Minnesota though, perhaps with the idea of him being able to play the 4 ( I don't see Winter ever doing that w/any regularity). And I just don't see them recruiting "over" Winter because A) IMO Winter showed more than enough promise & B) TJ Otzelberger isn't our coach. Redstick mentioned Brandon Angel in his post. UW recruited him out of HS & from what I understand they have contacted him.

    Wish Hoskins would've signed earlier in the off season. It might've kept the Bauers deal from being made. There are probably worse LH bats off the bench if you look around, but I'd rather have someone else in that role & Jace Avina still in the organization.

    Lots of obvious positives these 1st two games. I'd like to point out some really nice, and really timely, defensive plays. The pick by Contreras kept a lid on a possible rally yesterday, and an incredible play by Turang in the ninth kept the leadoff man from reaching & kept the screws from tightening a little bit on Uribe. Today, Turang with an overlooked play in the 1st on the low liner that backed up on him a little. Looking at the subsequent ABs that saved a run or two. Looking at what Alvarez did the first time he faced Hall, it might've saved a lot more. Then Yelich makes the throw preventing a leadoff double. Just love the glove work so far. I liked what I saw from Hall. A lot of close takes that I think he'll get swings on moving forward, and of course the ridiculous HBP in the Alonso AB. Still mucho concerned about the rotation, but after today maybe a touch less so.

    Agree with this as well. Under a particular system geared towards man-ball movement w/lots of motion he could probably compete, and compete well. Being able to guard mid-major bigs (if that's where he winds up) will help keep him on the floor, too.

    I think this is accurate. It seems like adding the portal announcement to his previous declaration is sort of a bet hedge--UW is actively looking at 4s but also at some people who can play the 3. So he feels the need to keep all his options open. Of course, that results in UW needing to keep THEIRS open as well. Just one of a couple hundred poker games going on across the country, each side waiting for the other to play their cards. Gotta love it when decisions regarding sports policy wind up in the courts. It's pretty obvious to me that on Storrs' list of top eight options, six are the NBA, seventh is stagnating in the G League & hoping for the NBA & the eighth is getting the most NIL money he can w/ the least amount of academics. UW can compete pretty well NIL-wise, but as to the second point, well, I think Domasks' spot is opening up........

    Always a fools' errand to assume how transfer portal battles are going to turn out, But some sources are saying UW is in great shape for Frankie Fidler, a 6'7" forward from Omaha of the Summit League who had a terrific JR year. He's planned 3 trips & Madison is the only one involving substantial travel. They're also serious about William Kyle, a power forward at South Dakota State. Both attended the same high school as Chucky Hepburn.

    They could try to work a trade for Haase I guess, but not much time to do that & rosters are being set. Apparently, expecting Frelick to be primarily an OF with Mitchell out makes Dunn a more attractive option.

    That would be the perfect storm. Keep Haase. Shortly before Mitchell is set to return (or after Wiemer puts up a monster 6 weeks in Nashville), some team loses a starting catcher to a broken thumb & wants Haase. Short of that I'd go with Dunn.

    Agree. Nowadays there are different ways to make room on a roster. The fly in the ointment though is the timeline. Will Storr take until the middle of June to decide? Everyone knows they're actively looking for a 4, but they are also kicking the tires on some bigger wings (including someone that helped beat them last week). It's tricky to do that if Storr plays "Should I stay or should I go?" right up to the deadline while a transfer may be basing his decision on that, and all the while other schools are shopping too.

    I may be wrong because the NBA isn't my thing, but when Sam Dekker was drafted wasn't it generally acknowledged that he wasn't a 'complete' enough player to help immediately? Yet he heard enough to justify leaving early (I know he had back issues that hamstrung him too). I guess I'm wondering if Storr, who has a lot of talent but obvious deficiencies in his game, is hearing some of the same stuff Dekker heard. The big difference is he can stay & still cash checks. And I firmly believe Storrs' deficiencies would improve more if he were at UW than playing in the G-League, if it came to that. And of course, is he still OK with playing school?

    You're right I think Frelick could attract an arm with some talent. But at this stage of the game that arm might very well not be worth what he'd provide if we kept him. I'm a big fan of the kid.

    Right now none of them would bring as much in a trade as what you can reasonably expect from them production-wise if you kept them. Minus Chourio of course.

    If Storr goes & everyone else stays, IMO Essegian still won't start. So I would much doubt it.

    Terrific post. As long as it's objective & balanced I don't mind some of the questioning of GG. Surely this was a roller-coaster season & this program traditionally doesn't fluctuate like that. If I read Macintosh correctly the next year (or maybe two) could be critical. But the good this year was very, very good, and the obstacles brought about by the changes in the sport combined with the other stuff you pointed out need to be kept in mind. Wherever they'd have to be for me to think a change is in order, it's quite a bit south of where they are now.

    My wife just called me with the news as I was out & about. Told me he also mentioned that if he returns to college hoops it'll be with UW. For a guy who's moved around as much as he has, even in HS, that's a pretty positive indictment toward the current staff. In the old days of declare & then either make a roster or die on the vine this would be a bad decision. Glad to hear he isn't hiring an agent. So you still can't hire an agent as a collegian. That's refreshing. Seems like they can do anything these days short of betting on their games.
