Theoretically, it should. That's what I like about him. He's the #28 prospect in the SD organization. Unless they have the greatest farm system anyone has seen in decades I think that's a huge miscalculation.

If you're referring to Ruiz, he's split the season btwn AA & AAA, and had a cup of coffee with SD.

I like Ruiz, I think he's underrated. Gasser seems like someone with a ton of potential. Lamet, eh. The only way this seems to offer immediate help is if Ruiz makes an impact in CF. I don't think they're done; picking up a young OFer makes it a little more comfy to deal one (or more) of the Biloxi guys.

Which is why I don't think he's that far away. The fact he's playing as well as he is, supercedes AA vs AAA. Still, this organization doesn't skip over AAA very often. If he does, it'll be significant.

I realize Frelick hasn't touched AAA yet, but I think he'll be here before the timeline you propose. Maybe WELL before.

This is where I am. I'd be more interested if he were a rental. He would be cheaper, and I don't see a need for him for 2 or 3 years or whatever it would be.

In a publication previewing the 1971 baseball season, it said of the Brewers that they took their best shot right away (Harper led off) and then waited three innings to take it again. With apologies to Danny Walton, that was pretty accurate. I remember him entering the '70 ASG as a pinch runner, and Johnny Bench throwing him out on a steal attempt. I think it's very cool that his 73 steals has stood up all these years as the franchise record. I believe Podsednik came closest to reaching it but fell just short.

I'd try to go a little more "lottery-ticketish" with the pitching going back to Washington than Shook & Uribe if possible. As far as Mancini, I wouldn't mind Garcia going to the O's but wonder if they're even looking to sell. Realistically they should be, but this is the first stretch of good baseball they've had in a LONG time. I haven't heard much about Brandon Drury. Maybe there's something going on there; I think they should at least be looking into the possibility.

Oh, I think it's possible, if you're talking about what it would take & do we have the pieces to reach that price. If you mean it's insane to think we would pay it, I sure hope you're right.

Rolling the dice on the injured relievers coming back & not picking up bullpen help is something I wouldn't be against. Stearns even specifically mentioned the guys rehabbing during a recent interview so maybe it's possible. It goes contrary to what we almost always do though, so I expect a deal.

Hiura and.........someone other than Valerio. BC82 mapped it out well, as to how he could be used. I'd just be concerned that McCutchen would find himself in CF more than he should be.

We always seem to want to pick up the bullpen arm or two, and I'm always concerned we'll overpay. I guess I've never forgotten the Cooper deal, which at the time really ticked me off. Last years' BP additions didn't exactly thrill me either. You just hope they don't overpay, because it's (BP addition) almost certain to happen. Suqs that we're hearing absolutely nothing about Cousins. I believe Perdomo has started a rehab at least.

There could be organizations out there who value Hedbert Perez very highly. Mediocre season at low-A but still young for his level. We're also quite loaded with OFers. Wouldn't be someone I'd look to move, but you never know. We seem to be trying to establish a new emphasis on contact in the guys we draft & develop, and I see a couple that might have value but not really fit that MO--Lutz & Garcia (although I think Lutz is having an impressive season). Would like to know how this 3-catcher thing shakes out before committing to deal Reetz, but I'd certainly listen. I like Feliciano, but would certainly include him before I'd deal Quero. I think it's safe to say Hiura has been dangled like an oak leaf in mid-November for a number of days now.

I'd dislike giving up Valerio, to be honest. But it can be justified since they're starting to build a little bit of INF depth in the organization, and now you can add Brown to that mix.

This is just an interesting scenario. He fits into the batting order like a glove. Defensively not so much, and this is the organization that's real big on run prevention. On the other hand these are the same folks that had Travis Shaw playing 2B. Due to the odds of swinging a deal being greatly increased b/c of the vax situation I suspect we'll go after him pretty hard.

He hasn't shown up in a box score for Nashville since being demoted. Now I learned he's physically still with the team in SF. There's a lot to sort through--the trade deadline, will Taylor make it back soon, the 3 catcher thing, and now Hiura. This might be the most interesting trade deadline since Sabathia. The guy has some thunder in his bat, no doubt. But when you take in the full picture-----yeah, he's having his best season since his rookie year, but I think that's an indictment of the ugly 2020-2021 stretch more than anything. Even with the DH now available I believe they feel that he's just not a fit here & they're looking for a trade partner.
