The spur that runs north from the ballpark caused my dad some anxious moments in the 60s. It ended at 47th & Lisbon. Then there was the Fond du Lac Freeway, which originated around 68th & Hampton & proceeded NW. There was talk of connecting the two, and the path would've either run through our home, or very close to it. Fortunately for us it was decided Appleton ave, 60th st & Fond du Lac ave sufficed as a link. When the southern bypass (I-894) was built it went mainly through undeveloped land. A northern one would've caused quite a bit of uprooting; maybe people b****ed enough to keep it from happening.

Quite ambitious. The part that would've made sense is the stretch from I-45 to I-43 going east-west on the north side. Most large metro areas have a freeway "ring" but Milwaukee never did a northern tier. If you travel down Silver Spring Dr there are quite a few underpasses, presumably to try to make up for that. Made travel between Wauwatosa & Port Washington kinda fractured.

I lived in the central part of Greenfield (just north of the HS) for about 18 years. Yeah, the borders are crazy as a result of G'field "freezing" the borders by becoming a city in the middle of Milwaukee's annexation grab. It used to be identified by the lack of curbs & sidewalks on the Greenfield side but I think that's starting to change. You got me on Rainbow Airport. Could it have been in/near the current Rainbow Park?

That's a significant point. Sexson, Fielder & Scott all had their numbers shrink in the last 2-3 seasons, but none of them were in Milwaukee. Out of sight, out of mind. Coopers' fade came when still a member of the Brewers, which I don't think is something he should lose points for.

I knew about the part that juts into Waukesha County. Didn't know about the Washington County extension. Back in the last century (don't remember when, probably in the post WW2 annexation craze) there was a movement to annex a large corridor of land abutting, IIRC, Hampton Ave that would jut out a few miles into Waukesha County. I'm assuming incorporation efforts by Menomonee Falls put a damper on that. I've always been a geek about stuff like that. For example, from Good Hope Rd south to Burleigh, and again for about a two mile stretch on the south side, there is no 59th street. It's 60th, then 58th. Never knew the reason for that.

Not that this guy would've been on the radar either, but actually their primary 1B in '69 was Don Mincher. Hit 27 dingers too. I believe Hegan spent quite a bit of time in the OF that season, then got hurt.

In looking at his last four seasons, I see two things: His productivity certainly wasn't at the level of his first 6-7 years (if they were he'd probably be a HOF shoo-in), and we have distinctly different definitions of "total trash". Other than that, I have no problem with someone putting Fielder tops on the list. I'm just not in that camp.

3 full seasons for Sexson, as opposed to Coopers' 10.5 ( I consider 1987 as a half-year swan song) is a large determinant for me. Sexson was a power guy, and a monumentally good one while here. But i'll take Coopers' numbers for a decade playing in what was largely considered a pitchers' park.

That's where I land as well. I give Cooper a razors' edge over Prince due to range & a little more longevity. Then there's a chasm. It's interesting to note that Scott was originally acquired to man 3rd base.

If they made that deal Santander could arguably be more productive in 2023 than any of the OFs mentioned. It would also most likely be a precursor to another deal involving an OF. In any case, as I said I doubt the O's would do it. More than anything it would be a chance to get more for Houser than they'd likely ever be able to get. I also doubt the O's would give us Hall for Houser.

Agree with all of this. I would certainly entertain the thought of trading him for Santander but my gut feeling is there's very little chance of Baltimore making that deal.

Since 2013, every appearance he's made in the bigs has been as a starter, save for two mop-ups in 2020 & one appearance last season. At age 36 I don't think you sign him for a role he & his arm aren't familiar with.

Suter had a little multi-inning work, but maybe wasn't a "weapon" in the sense that Pomeranz was. My guess is this has to portend a trade, and I imagine it would involve Lauer.

It gives me the cold sweats thinking about Hiura making the team & being the 26th man, because to some fans the resulting sporadic ABs that role causes will be "the reason" why he isn't hitting. Would much rather see him dealt, which is much easier said than done.

If he can increase the pop while reaching the numbers you mentioned, I'd be OK with that. I would just rather he lessen the Ks & target a higher number in the BA-OBP strata. Which I think would happen. Have to admit though, I didn't know he graded 60 in power.

Honestly, the last thing I'd want is for him to change his swing to tap into whatever power potential he may have. If he can make an adjustment that results in more consistent contact, great.

What I loved about Mitchell's debut was how he seemed to consistently use the middle third of the diamond, as the above highlights illustrated. Surprised by the high K rate, but we need to remember it was his first taste of big league pitching, and he had nowhere near a full season under his belt (including his first taste of AAA, only 20 games worth). And I have no idea what comprises the 2023 projections in the above graphic (I'm not a stat geek), but if he does indeed play in 109 games he's stealing a lot more than 15 bags. That's 2/3 of the games. I think he'll be on the field more than that assuming health.

Agree with all of this. When I heard Salome was having "issues" & wanted to move to the OF it really bummed me out. Guy had a cannon. And I absolutely loved Palmisano. Way too early to be totally sold on Quero, but guilty as charged.

I guess it would come down to: How much they feel they can rely on Turang from the get-go Can they get him w/o having to give up very much Will the Mets eat a respectable amount of the salary My gut tells me it'll be tough to consummate something with the Mets that reaches the last two points to our satisfaction. But I never thought they'd pull off Contreras while only giving up Ruiz, either.

Like Robo said, it was pretty obvious we'd be dealing one of the "Nashville four" OFs at some point. I like this deal, provided there isn't an extra piece or two included that I'm particularly enamored with. He's also still controlled when Quero should be ready, adding to your flexibility & options.
