  1. If they continue to ring the bell regarding the draft & player development, trades & other personnel decisions it might not take as much luck as we all thought.
  2. Had Coach K still been on the sidelines, who knows what might've happened once he took the refs aside & mandated to them how he wants the game to be officiated. As to my bracket, I have Arizona as the lone wolf still standing. I had St Johns making it to the FF & they might've made it if Pitino gave Prey a little more run in the 2nd half vs Duke.
  3. At the moment, I agree we're good. Down the road,@Joseph Zarr's mention of Patrick possibly in that role is a great one provided the rotation stays healthy enough to allow it. He really excelled as a middle man late last year. Still like Yoho; he seemed to right the ship late in '25. I think one of the keys to whether it becomes even a slight issue is how often we can get what we got today---a six inning start.
  4. I guess my main concern is RHH who hit lefties exceptionally well. In the middle innings Anderson is pretty much the only RH option (you COULD use Woodford, I suppose). But you're right. None of the lefties are what you'd call situational guys.
  5. I hated Ashby coming in today starting with a L vs L & walking him while missing badly on 3 of the balls. But yeah, overall they've been terrific. And so far, so good AFA spreading out the usage. I just wonder how four LHP in the pen will work long term.
  6. Payroll difference. "They're lucky." "We must be better; the national media kisses our arses much, much more." Wind is blowing in.
  7. "Why does he always call me 'meat'? I'M the one with the Porsche."
  8. Seems to me he's going to be hesitant to PH if it's a tie game & the defense would be compromised, which I'm good with. Still ticked a bit about Monday, though, letting Hamilton & especially Mitchell swing.
  9. Definitely took him out of the groove he was in, which is always a concern with a young pitcher. But like you said, locked right back in. I thought the Rays put up some pretty competitive ABs against him overall.
  10. FYI-----the linescore now shows 3 errors for TB, not 4. So I assume the Ortiz ball leading off the 8th has been changed to a hit which I'm good with. Hard hit & an in-between hop.
  11. CC getting fired & returning to the Brewers in an advisory capacity would've been a good one, too.
  12. So, has a team ever started a season 4-1 while giving up 1st inning HRs in four of those five games?
  13. Didn't get the point you were trying to make comparing him to Pratt, until now. That's actually quite relevant & speaks well to the "incomplete" Mitchell should be getting on his report card. Still, it'll all be sawdust if he doesn't figure out the swing-and-miss issues.
  14. So if they reach the point where the 26-man roster would be better if it doesn't include Mitchell you think he should just be released?
  15. I don't know if umps are being embarrassed all that much on ball & strike calls. At least they shouldn't feel that way cuz like you said, we're talking centimeters on most of these challenges. But it's a whole other thing when you're calling runners out on a dropped ball because of a transfer, when there's no reason to transfer because it would've been the 3rd out and HE NEVER TRIED TO TRANSFER THE BALL, ANYWAY. Just a couple of very, very odd calls.
  16. They need to find out about Mitchell, one way or the other. The idea of him getting ABs in AAA is a sound one, but only five games in it isn't going to happen just yet. He probably has until Chourio is ready, as speculated earlier. I do think sending him up vs a LHP w/the outcome in doubt, like yesterday, is a bad idea.
  17. It's already a thing re HP umpires. But you're on to something; it will probably increase as a scouting factor.
  18. A very very Brewers rally. A walk. Then Bauers pops up, but runs the count to 3-0 in the process. A few hitters later, another walk, flipping the order. Then the Turang AB. Finally breaking thru McClanahan, who was more impressive than a guy making his first start in forever should expect. He was really good thru 4. All things considered, I guess I'm in favor of challenges. Maybe Bucknor thought the object for the batter/runner to be safe is to AVOID the base. Good Lord..........
  19. This is the biggest challenge for sure until they get the two RHH back---facing LH starters. In the meantime I think they need to get something out of Perkins who has better splits vs LHP, and Rengifo whose splits are also slightly better. And this is the chance for Lockridge to make a statement.
  20. Spreading out more in the box is a smart move that hopefully bears fruit. Guys who can run like the wind but have trouble making contact have always been a pet peeve of mine. Job one is for Mitchell to stay healthy enough to play, so some of these questions can finally be answered as to what we have here. While none of them are certain to hit much, it's good to have the options they do. Perkins can win you games with his glove. Lockridge had the nice spring, and while that guarantees nothing it also isn't necessarily meaningless given the off-season work he did leading to the increased bat speed. Hopefully someone, or some combination, takes command of the spot because I'd really like to see Chourio settle into LF as opposed to toggling back-and-forth.
  21. It's possible. Let's see what transpires after a few sessions with the Mighty Vogelbach.🦍.
  22. If that (the heavy usage) happens again, sure. I'd just give it more than four games in. From the left side Ya got Zerpa, Koenig, Hall. Zastryzny. Gasser & Drohan may stay stretched out; may not. So I agree there isn't much excuse to overwork him. If the starters can cross that magic line from going around five innings to going six more consistently I think it would be huge in this regard.
  23. I think that should always be in his toolbox especially if/when facing a LHP.
  24. He threw Thursday (eleven pitches). Had a day off. Threw Saturday. Had a day off. Threw today. I agree that when you get further into the season you'll want to monitor him, especially since they're loaded with LH options on the forty-man roster. I just think it's a little early to be jumping on Murphy for this only four games in.
