  1. Then we're sacrificing the season, and who knows what baseball will look like after the lockout. I know the Red Sox and Pirates were offering attractive packages, although I don't know names or prospect levels to compare to Pratt or Quero. We have to trade talent to get talent, and we just traded away much of the marginal talent (Durbin, Collins, Myers) that helped us get to a certain level. Are we so engrossed by "The Brewers way" that we're just going let the team regress in order to maintain our own system? Worked out real well for the Packers, until it didn't. Then again, Mark has priorities in his portfolio far above the Brewers, so I guess we're just moving pawns around the chessboard to maintain a steady level of profitability that doesn't get in the way of the fan bases' loyalties.
  2. In lieu of the Durbin trade, we may as well at the very least speculate -- what would get Paredes from Houston? Would Pratt and Quero be enough? What needs to be added/tweaked?
  3. I'm not as upset about filling in for Ortiz as I am worried that they'll probably bring Oliver Dunn back up
  4. It's mildly helpful that he can play Third as well. Not especially well, But at least it's another hint of versatility. IDK. We definitely need some pinch hit power off of the bench a la Sanchez from last year. Outfield is really the only place that I can see it happening.
  5. With Mitchell presumably out for the year, perhaps the Crew can shift focus to the Outfield to fill the need for a consistent power bat. Collins can shift from playing left field exclusively and shift over the getting consistent at-bats in the infield to spell Durbin and Ortiz. Ward is far from a perfect player, but I can't imagine he would cost a ton, and he would provide the power we lack.
  6. I'd be amazed if he played for the Brewers this year. Seems to be more of a speculative add. Nothing wrong with it, I assume it balances out some money. If any first baseman is coming up from Nashville to Milwaukee this year, I'm gonna assume it's Martinez.
  7. Sadly, I think he'll end up being DFA'd. Not enough production for that price, unless you're the Dodgers and you can, but I doubt they go this route.
  8. The Brewers have talked of pursuing him before, and it seems like he has always refused considering Milwaukee. Now that he's this old, I have a hard time wanting to accommodate him on anything more than a one year deal for, IDk, 5 mil.
  9. Lopez is signed for three years. Not a rental.
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/12/twins-have-listened-to-trade-offers-on-pablo-lopez.html not at all a cheap proposition -- but nothing worth having ever is. Quero, Letson, Black and Civale? Something better to maybe get Miranda?
  11. When did the dugout confrontation with Prince Fielder happen? Was that 2010?
  12. Allegedly, the Giants have made Conforto, Yaz and Wilmer Flores available. None of them are exactly having bang-up years, but these are the Brewers, and I can't see any one of them costing a great deal to see if they can respond to a new environment. Giants would probably pick up a decent part of Conforto's salary for even a reasonable prospect. Any of these sound better than trying to shake last year's stink off of Winker again.
  13. Odd how the concept of C.J. Cron provokes such apathy amongst Brewer fans. He's heating up and getting healthy, and presumably wouldn't cost anything significant as a rental.
  14. It depends if Frelick and Turang are seen as ready.. If they start, we will devote our available revenue to pitching, which needs to happen regardless. Stearns will only pay for a bat if he thinks it's a bargain and won't create an obvious lineup block. I think it's time Feliciano is given his chance to timeshare catching with Caratini and therefore sink or swim.
