  1. Personally, I think the way Dale is managing the offense right now ('smallball' - if you will) is more of a correlation to how our offense has looked the last month. In that is where I see the major difference between Ned and Dale. Ned in my eyes seemed to 'stay the coarse' too long. Dale saw that the players were not batting as well as they have in the past. So, when we get a base runner - we need to take advantage of it because the way many of our players are going base runners are a premium. Ned was too stubborn to try new things - and playing differently (i.e. batting people in the same part of the lineup, not moving runners, bunting, using specific pitchers for specific innings, etc.). But I guess time will tell if what I'm saying is right - or if this is actually Dales managing style. A few more players are going to have to break out of their slumps to find out.
  2. Die another day!! Fun game - big game. Let's do it all over again tomorrow!

  4. " I don't mean to sound like a jerk." Yeah - you really seem like a mean person. Every time I turn around you are handing out something. Jerk is a word that is far from my mind when reading your posts! I feel like a jerk saying - throw me in the pot for the tickets
  5. I don't know if it's been said (maybe it has - or maybe I'm the only one who gets annoyed) but I hate when there is a lane closed or lane ending and people cut in at the last second - even though there are clearly arrows and signs annoucning that the lane is ending. Yeah - I know they have the right to stay in that lane until the last second - but all it does is create more conjestion. I just feel like that whenever someone blows past 10-12 cars and then turns their blinker on to get into the lane that they are much too good to wait the extra minute in line. They have to speed past everyone and then cut in. Maybe I'm a baby - but it really annoys me.
  6. I'm feeling Bush pitching decent tonight (3-4 ER through 6), but he's going to come up big with the bat against the rookie.
  7. I remember in my soccer days the whistle blew and the jerseys all came off. It was just something everyone did immediatly. I never really thgouht of it until now - but I guess that also comes from professional soccer where many times they exchange jerseys at the end of the game with their opponents.
  8. That makes no sense to me - it's more of a chance for an out with Weeks going up there first. Opposing Teams/Umpires are not going to miss this. So having Rickie going up there and getting out for sure makes no sense then sending Sheets up there who may once and a blue moon get one base - by the rules.
  9. Mickey - the FSN crew scanned the second deck looking for the ball. You never saw where it landed. It was pretty pathetic.
  10. Yesterday I was watching the Colorado/Phillies game on my MLB Extra Innings Package and the Phillies hit a pop fly to center - and the Phillies annoucer says something along the lines of, "Pop fly to center - Rickie Weeks coming on to make the catch." Then about 4-5 second later he corrects himself. I belive Colorados center fielder was Willie Tavaras. I had to do a double take to make sure we didnt trade Weeks to Colorado to play Centerfield? Wrong Team, Wrong Position and not even a name that is close. Yikes.
  11. Anyone think Sheets and Kendall should come to blows in the dugout? On second thought - I dont know how well Benny could take a punch.
  12. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/c4d1519c815b24d6ce38c0b3bb252370a78f5f4.pjpg Rocking the Blue Koolaid again today. I forgot how good the stuff is! Two days of drinking it - two Brewer wins. It is OBVIOUSLY why they are winning! So I brought myself a bottle of blue Koolaid to work - extra Mo-Jo for the sinker baller.
  13. I'll be drinking the blue koolaid tonight again. Mmmm mmm it's good stuff - and it gave us a nice big 8-3 win yesterday - so I figure - why not!?! Three cheers for blue Koolaid!
  14. Now that you said it - I'm running to the Grocery store to get me some "Ice Blue" Kool-Aid. I used to live on that stuff in high school. Three cheers for blue Koolaid!
  15. Menotti80, I filled that same thing out and had the same issue. Went through the whole deal of the "high pressure" sales. Where the happened to rip on my fiance and I because we had "no financial sense" and hope we never go into finance. At this point I pretty much had to carry my fiance out of the place because she happened to graduate weeks before with a degree in finance and accounting. To put it in Brewers terms - they try to sell you a "20 game pack" of vacations. Where you pay for them all and keep them in your pocket until you want to take them. Thye want you to make the decision that day before you leave. First they sit you in a room and a guy talks to the whole group and shows you pictures of the best and nicest places around the world. Talks to you about how great of a deal this is. How it is the "Sam's Club" of vacations. Makes the analogy of going to the store and buying one Coke for $1.25. Then going to Sam's Club and buying 24 Cokes for $5.99. (Because soda and vacations are so similar). It's almost like a pep-rally trying to get you excited about everything. If you ask stupid questions they will answer them - if you ask something smart or something that shed light on why it is a terrible deal they will say, "You will have a chance to get that questions answered by your sales rep at a later time." They dont want to answer specifics in front of everyone else. The a team of sales reps jogs in to music and calls of peoples names and they take you to the big cafeteria like room where there are beach balls and pictures on the wall of exotic far off lands. The rep shows you pictures of place and where all the condos they have are. Tell you how great they are. When you ask pointed questions - they dance around them. You just keep saying no and no and no. Then when you say no to sales person #1 100 times they go and get their manager. He/she comes and sits with you and goes through the whole thign getting a bit pushier. Then once you say no to him about 100 times they ask you to go to the back room with the Head Hancho. The Big Cheese makes you wait a little (because he is so important) then it's just you and him in his office. His office consists of the real cool desk waterfalls and lava lamps. (This is the time I and he goes on and on and on about how it is a mistake to walk out with just your free vacation. And for us he ripped on two future newly weds who didn't know how to make sound financial decisions. We have a long road ahead of us if we make terrible decisions like this - blah blah blah. (To which my fiance starts firing off about how a split-second financial decision of spending over $2000 is finanical suiside). Then once he/she realizes there is no chance for them to sucker you into anything he picks up a folder with your free vacation. He says - well here is your free vacation. It's not at one of our nice places. It's at a standard run of the mill hotel. You have to pay the taxes. You must fly out on a Sunday, Monday, or Tueday. So it can't be a weekend trip. You have 12 months to use it. For us - when I tried to sign up for our trip you had to go online to this site and enter the number on you folder. And jump through hoops. Finally I called and was put on hold about 5 times. Wasted 3-4 hours trying to figure stuff out before I said the heck with it and trashed our folder. It was a good 3 hours in the meeting and another 3-4 trying to figure out how this "free" vacation worked - all for nothing besides a few laughs seeing my fiance (who I've never seen mad and yell at anyone) get furious and yell at a 45 year old man. Honestly - if you want to go through all that for a stay in Vegas or where ever - I give you my props. But it's not free - and I'd hate to see the place they'd put you up in.
  16. I had the TV on this morning - wasn't really paying attention - until I looked up and saw a picture of one of the students from La Crosse that had drowned in the Mississippi River while I went to school there. They were doing a story about how a few retired NYPD officers believe that about 40 cases of people drowning around the country could be linked. They have found different links - such as smiley faces graffitied close to the spot where the people are thought to be going into the water. I did a little search to find any articles about it and found this: http://kstp.com/article/stories/s421846.shtml?v=1 http://a11news.com/57/smiley-face-murders/ I didn't catch the whole story - and haven't had a whole lot of time to really read through the articles. However, I know while my time at La Crosse 2 students drowned - and it is a topic of interest for many people around the state that knew the kids that tragically died. I have no opinion on the Smiley Face killer yet - but it does caught my eye and I thought I'd share.
  17. If you look closely at Rickies signature it says "Rickie - you know -Weeks".
  18. Honest to blog - how are we 13-8 with the offense we have had?
  19. I almost want the Rockies to tie it in the ninth and make the game go 12-13 innings and cash the Cubs bullpen even more. Edit - THAT, however, is not what I wanted.
  20. Totally agree with you here. Also, having Extra innings and catching a bunch of games on other FSN's - they have the same production problems. My person favorite is when they show a close up. side-angle shot of the pitcher as he is in his wind-up - then right after he throws it they go to the shot from behind the pithcer of the batter - and my eyes don't even have time to adjust before the pitch is in the glove or hit - which leads to a new camera angle. It almost gives me headaches to watch FSN broadcasts this year. I know it wasn't top notch in years past - but they have taken a LARGE step backwards in my opinion.
  21. I don't know about the current state of the Rays - will Gabe get full playing time down there? If so - good for him.
  22. If Sheets can somehow get over this Tricep issue - and Yo starts pitching like last year - I am going to start getting giddy for the season all over again! Also - I saw this at the Red's Fan Site - Red Lineup Today: Corey Patterson CF Brandon Phillips 2B Ken Griffey Jr. RF Adam Dunn LF Jeff Keppinger SS Joey Votto 1B Edwin Encarnacion 3B Paul Bako C Aaron Harang P
  23. My fiance is out of town and my plans fell through this weekend. I'm home with nothing to do and I feel like making myself a decent little dinner. I'm going to head over to the grocery store, but I don't know what I want. So I reach out to the smart people of Brewerfan to give me a few ideas.. What is your favorite meal to make and eat for yourself?
