  1. Via MLB.com: Brewers: Jackson Chourio, CF (No. 1/MLB No. 2), Aguilas del ZuliaThe second-ranked prospect in baseball continues to rake in his native Venezuela, posting another two-hit performance Thursday with a walk and a run scored for Zulia. Chourio has compiled multihit games in his past four contests and hit safely in each of his last six. He's batting .359 through 10 games.

  3. Not of particular note, but I do admire the determination. LHP Jhofez Mejias just turned 20 years old last month. Mejias was released in April 2023 after just one season in the system in the DSL. Idle for the 2023 season, he lands in the independent Pioneer League, an MLB partner league. This is what we mean when we wish released players well in future endeavors on and off the field.

  5. With his new 2024 minor league deal in place, 1B Ernesto Martinez has been added to the initial post in this thread.
  6. Former Brewers , including veterans (Jesus Aguilar) and relative youngsters (Mario Feliciano), can be found throughout. You'll see that some teams lists are quite a bit longer than the Brewers, or especially St. Louis (only two players). That's because Milwaukee has been paring from their roster for weeks now, with the multiple releases we've documented in our Transaction thread. So, while this list is accurate in detailing the "new" MiLB Free Agents, it is not an exhaustive list of what is available on the overall landscape.
  7. This is official now: These players will become minor league free agents this fall unless added to the 40-man roster or signed to a new minor league contract. Currently at: Nashville LHP Fernando Abad RHP Jason Alexander RHP Caleb Boushley RHP Luis Contreras C Payton Henry RHP Tyler Herb C Brian Navarreto Biloxi RHP Harold Chirino RHP Max Lazar 1B Ernesto Martinez (signed a new minor league deal 11/7) :) RHP Cam Robinson Wisconsin LHP Karlos Morales
  8. For personal reasons, the season-long archived media thread had to be paused after the regular season finale. Lots of them. Don't say we didn't warn you." Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "Wait, WHAT? Craig Counsell isn't coming back to manage the Milwaukee Brewers, but he's not going to the New York Mets as feared ... it's worse. Counsell was named the next manager of the Chicago Cubs, leaving Brewers fans puzzled and hurt. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss the two ways of looking at it: Counsell turning to the Dark Side or the front office being unwilling to accommodate the best manager in franchise history. How much is an MLB manager worth, in general? Is this a sign the Brewers are heading toward a cliff? What did Mark Attanasio say about the fiasco? Who are some of the possible candidates to replace him?" Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "Counsell stuns Brewers nation by going to Cubs"

  10. Photos at the link -- Jackson Chourio: "I was left with that thorn of not being able to debut this season in the Major Leagues" MLB's No. 2 prospect hit his first home run of the season in the LVBP against the Tiburones de La Guaira Manuel Acevedo Special | AVS Photo Report Jackson Chourio is one of the most interesting young pieces that Venezuelan baseball has for the future, due to the superb performance he has shown in the different categories of the Minor Leagues. The Milwaukee Brewers organization allowed the young star to play a month of regular season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) with the Águilas del Zulia. He added that one of the greatest satisfactions is that my family can see him play and it is something that fills him with pride. The young player of the Águilas del Zulia this season in the Minor Leagues saw action in the AA and AAA categories of the Milwaukee Brewers, in which he batted for an average of .282, 22 home runs, three triples, 26 doubles, 150 hits, 91 RBIs, .467 SLG and .805 OPS. The player of the rapacious team commented that so far he has not communicated with his organization in the United States to try to extend his leave, but if he does not get that extension he thinks that this time has been good and that then he will work on his physique for next year. In the duel between the Águilas del Zulia and the Tiburones de La Guaira on November 4, Jackson Chourio hit his first home run of the 2023-2024 season and thus reaches three home runs in his career in the LVBP. It is very likely that the Milwaukee organization will invite the Venezuelan player for Spring Training 2024, and in this way he will be able to take a closer look at all his qualities on the playing diamond.
  11. Click the word "expand" above to see the full list. Some thoughts on the 12 players eligible for minor league free agency Monday: Baseball America will confirm an official list this week, we believe this is accurate. The Brewers would not have announced if any of these players already agreed to terms on a 2024 minor league contract as an extension. Several make sense as candidates, but Navarreto and Chirino already did once for 2023 Players with big league time - Abad, Alexander, Boushley, Henry, Navarreto Cam Robinson with 40-man roster time but no MLB debut The Brewers really need to restock their catching corps this offseason, with only William Contreras on the 40-man roster, no AAA catchers, and only two remaining catchers (Jeferson Quero and Nick Kahle) with experience at AA - Kahle played in four AAA games in 2022. Milwaukee already added OF Chris Roller, previously on this list, to the 40-man roster on October 23rd, a couple of weeks earlier than they had to. The fact they did not announce others at that time likely means that if anyone else is retained it will be via a new minor league deal.

  15. Carlos Santana was instrumental in the Brewers' second half run to the postseason, posting a 109 OPS+ after being traded to Milwaukee on July 27th. Santana is a free agent the moment the World Series ends and 2024 will be his age 38 season. William Contreras, the breakout catching star acquired last offseason in a three-way trade, posted a cryptic tweet. Could it mean the Brewers and Santana are interested in running it back for 2024?
