It was four wins in five tries for the affiliates Friday night, and ironically perhaps the biggest update of the evening came out of Wisconsin (where the lone loss was), as 22-year-old 2021 4th round RHP Logan Henderson received very good news after a very good start. Actually, in terms of closeness to impact on the big-league level, the performance of one Aaron Ashby vs. dastardly St. Louis farmhands probably strikes a louder chord. No word on Brewer Hicklen's injury status, hopefully his absence will be of the minimum 7-day variety. Tyler Black singled twice and stole his 8th base in ten AAA tries. Here's our one video peek at just-turned 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Rivero, closing out the ballgame and his four innings of relief in style with K # seven. A much-needed effort for Rivero, who last flashed such effectiveness in a May 2nd start. ACL Brewers 8, ACL White Sox 4, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log The A-Crew pounded out 11 hits (including two Gery Holguin home runs and a Filippo Di Turi two-run double) and worked five walks in just six trips at the plate in this agreed-upon shortened game. Holguin is in his age 18 season out of the Dominican Republic and appears to have settled in as both a corner infielder and outfielder, as his 19 games at shortstop in 2022 seem to be well past him. For the bottom three in the order, seven of eight plate appearances were successful. The sample sizes are very small (70 combined at-bats in 2024), but 1B Johan Barrios' .927 OPS and CF Ramon Moreno's .938 will catch your eye, even in the super-charged desert atmosphere. 20-year-old LH reliever Anfernny Reyes still hasn't allowed an earned run in eight appearances spanning 12.1 innings, though two unearned runs scored here. Carolina’s dynamic 18-year-old third baseman Juan Baez lands on the 7-day IL retroactive to Friday 5/30. Appeared to be an upper arm injury, even if it’s just by the one day, hopefully the retro notation indicates missed time may be limited.
