Sounds Hold Off Late WooSox Push in Win Luis Lara Posts Second Straight Three Hit Night NASHVILLE — Nashville held off a late WooSox rally and earned a 5-3 win on Wednesday night at First Horizon Park. The Sounds piled up a season-high five extra base hits in the win, including a pair of doubles by Luis Lara as the Brewers no. 12-rated prospect collected his second straight three-hit game and fifth overall of the season. Worcester jumped out to the early lead with the help of a pair of two-out walks issued by Logan Henderson. The Brewers no. 7-rated prospect also allowed a RBI single before getting out of the opening half inning with a strikeout. Nashville's bats immediately picked him up when Jett Williams started the home half of the ballgame with a leadoff triple before scoring on Cooper Pratt's first Triple-A extra-base hit, a RBI double to the opposite field. Henderson proceeded to retire the WooSox in order in the second with a pair of strikeouts before sitting down the first two in the top of the third. The right-hander worked himself out of a little bit of trouble to end his outing after allowing his second hit and a third walk to leave two stranded in his third and final inning of work. Following a leadoff walk and a Freddy Zamora single in the bottom of the second, Pratt drew a two-out walk to keep the Sounds at the plate. Lara ensured the Sounds wouldn't squander the bases loaded situation with a two RBI single to make it a 3-1 Sounds advantage. That lead grew in the fourth inning when Williams drew a walk and swiped second to put himself in scoring position for Pratt, who made it a multi-hit and RBI game with a single off Jacob Webb. Lara added a multi-hit game of his own, his seventh in 15 games, with a double off the right field wall. Jeferson Quero's sacrifice fly extended the Sounds lead to 5-1 through the fourth. Joe Corbett worked 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings in relief of Henderson with two strikeouts to help negate two walks issued. Brian Fitzpatrick was called on to get the final out of the top of the fifth and did just that with a three-pitch strikeout of Kristian Campbell to extend his scoreless innings streak to 7.2 IP and seven straight games to begin his season. The Sounds were unable to capitalize on their second bases loaded scoring opportunity of the game following back-to-back hit by pitches and a walk with one out in the bottom of the fifth. Kyle Keller stranded all three Nashville runners with a strikeout and groundout to keep the WooSox deficit to just four runs. Drew Rom worked himself into trouble with a single allowed to the first batter he faced in the sixth before walking consecutive Worcester batters to load the bases. The Nashville left-hander exchanged a run for an out after inducing a ground ball before re-loading the bases with his third walk of the inning. He responded with back-to-back strikeouts to limit the damage to just the lone run and keep it a three-run Sounds advantage. After a quiet seventh, the WooSox cut into Nashville's lead with a run off of Blake Holub in the top of the eighth. The right-hander looked poised to escape completely unscathed after allowing consecutive singles to start the inning after Braiden Ward grounded into a double play and Matt Thaiss was called out at second for runner interference. However, a flared single over an outstretched Pratt made it 5-3 in favor of Nashville. Will Childers entered the game in relief of Holub and got the final out of the top of the eighth. Lara made it back-to-back three-hit games with his second double of the game but was left stranded as Childers headed back to the mound in the ninth to face the heart of the WooSox order. He followed a leadoff single with a strikeout before issuing a walk to put runners on first and second. A groundout landed runners on the corners and sent Thaiss to the plate to serve as the potential go-ahead run. After swinging 3-0 and lacing a ball just foul with home run distance, Childers got him to pop out to Williams in foul territory down the third base line to secure his third save of the season and preserve Nashville's 5-3 win. The Sounds will look to make it three straight wins to begin the series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CT. POSTGAME NOTES: LUIS THE SIXTH: Infielder Luis Lara extended his hit streak to six consecutive games and has tied teammate Tyler Black for the longest hit-streak on the team. Lara went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in Wednesday night's win against the WooSox and has posted back-to-back 3-hit games in the first two games of the homestand. Lara was the first Sound to record two doubles in a game this season and posted a single-season career-high 32 doubles for Double-A Biloxi last season, including six games with two doubles. The Brewers no. 12 prospect is currently ranked third in batting average (.414), tied for third in hits (24), and tied for third in on-base percentage (.500) at the Triple-A level. MULTI-HIT PRATT-NUM: Shortstop Cooper Pratt tacked on his first career Triple-A multi-RBI game and the second multi-hit game of the season with his first one coming on Opening Night against the Norfolk Tides on March 27. Pratt went 2-for-4, with a double and the two RBI. The Brewers no. 4 prospect posted 12 multi-RBI games with Double-A Biloxi, including a career-high four RBI against Double-A Columbus on August 12, 2025. He notched 25 multi-hit games during the 2025 season with Double-A Biloxi including six three-hit games to tie his career-high. FITZ-MAGIC: Left-hander Brian Fitzpatrick continues to dominate on the mound and is currently tied with Garrett Stallings and Robert Gasser in consecutive scoreless innings tossed with 7.2 while extending his consecutive scoreless appearances to seven, tying Will Childers who also reached seven games after a scoreless appearance as well on Wednesday. Fitzpatrick has not allowed an earned run this season, posting a solid 0.00 ERA in all seven appearances. Last season, he appeared in 13 games for the Sounds and posted a 6.87 ERA, allowing 14 runs on 14 hits in 18.1 innings pitched. Six of the earned runs came in his Triple-A debut (0.2 IP) and the left-hander has allowed just eight runs over his last 19 appearances with Nashville since August 12, 2025. EXTRA, EXTRA: The Nashville Sounds combined for five extra-base hits in Wednesday's win over Worcester. The trio of top prospects on Nashville's roster in Luis Lara (2 2B), Cooper Pratt (2B), and Jett WIlliams (3B) combined for four of the five while Eddys Leonard, who leads the team with eight XBH chipped in with a double. The Sounds offense had 24 games of at least five XBH during the 2025 season, including a season-high 10 on April 20, 2025, on the road in Charlotte. WALK IT OUT: The Sounds pitching staff allowed a season-high 11 walks to get on base in Wednesday night's win, including three each from starter Logan Henderson and Drew Rom. The last time Nashville's pitching staff allowed 11+ walks in a single game was back on April 28, 2019, against the Iowa Cubs when they allowed 15 walks to reach base.

From the Link Report for Saturday's games -- "Outside of the catching corps, the Sounds have a one-man position player bench (Manager Rick Sweet loves when that is the case - not). Sweet emptied the non-catcher crew when OF Jacob Hurtubise entered as part of a defensive shuffle to begin the bottom of the 10th, with first baseman Luke Adams exiting. Adams had struck out swinging in the top of the 9th and had remained in the game on defense for the bottom of that frame. So, at this time, nothing concerning from that perspective, but as always, we'll see." *** Sure enough, in Sunday's pre-game interview with Jeff Hem, Manager Rick Sweet mentions Adams' "injury" more than once, but doesn't divulge the nature or the severity. No IL Stint yet. NOTE: I find that I'm able to choose "Listen in Browser' (at least on my phone) which bypasses creating a Soundcloud account.

Sunday 4/12: Postgame reactions after the 8-6 loss to the Nationals: Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "The Brewers had a brutal week, suffering a five-game losing streak for the first time since mid-2023 and playing some of those games in jerseys that nobody seems to like. The pitchers are struggling, particularly in the bullpen. Christian Yelich left Sunday's game ominously. The defense has been suspect. The hitting has been suspect. The Brewers have gone from 8-2 to barely above .500, and that was against teams that were ostensibly struggling. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe go through the ugliness, from bullpen usage to dropped velocity to a dearth of options to fix the offense. And what is WITH those City Connect jerseys, anyway? In Three Up Three Down (38:00), they discuss Willson Contreras, promising work from Jacob Misiorowski, the excellent Jake Bauers experience and a brief first big-league appearance from Shane Drohan. In Remembrew When (58:30), JR looks back at a memorable Phil Garner moment in a week where two ex-managers died: Garner and Davey Lopes. Curt Blanche (1:02:30) discusses one of baseball's cathedrals. Then, JR chats with new starting pitcher Kyle Harrison (1:07:00) about his tweaked repertoire, his California upbringing, a high-school teammate also employed by the Brewers and his grandfather, once teammates in Milwaukee with Hank Aaron." Unlike Nashville and Biloxi, it appears that there will be significant newspaper (print and online) coverage of the Wilson Warbirds. Had been hoping for an introductory offer (one of those $1 for six-month types you occasionally see), but that's not the case. $17 a month is going to be too pricy for this Link Reporter, given my already-full subscription table elsewhere in life.

Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: N/A Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Gwinnett (Braves) 4, Nashville 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to always review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Walked Off for Second Straight Night - Kuehner Spins First Career Triple-A Quality Start You may not recognize the name Cory Hilborne, but he's the Communications Manager for the Sounds and is responsible for the big majority of postgame summaries, and he nails it every single time. Today's effort was just the latest example, and hopefully you'll agree that both the in-game action recap and the miscellaneous notes linked above provide a cornucopia of detail for us. I shared on social media that I was able to catch up with longtime Brewers.com beat writer and Supervising Reporter Adam McCalvy (along with the Journal-Sentinel's Curt Hogg) in Boston on Tuesday. While I thanked Adam for his decades of coverage, he acknowledged that we provide details within our daily Link Reports that aid his efforts. Now, the fact Tyler Black had been placed on the IL was evident from the MiLB transaction wire, easy enough to track. Much less obvious was that Pratt had sat out not one, but two games, something we pointed out when Saturday's early AM report was published. Clearly Adam has the means and the contacts to then follow up on notes like that. Sure enough, by Saturday afternoon, he informed us of the status of both players. Of course, there will be instances when the beat reporters uncover minor league news outside of our site and forum posts. But our symbiotic relationship has helped inform Brewers fans for many years now, and we've long been aware that many members of the organization's front office, spanning multiple departments, make our daily report a staple. Pretty cool, right? Outside of the catching corps, the Sounds have a one-man position player bench (Manager Rick Sweet loves when that is the case - not). So, at this time, nothing concerning from that perspective, but as always, we'll see. In addition to old friends Rowdy Tellez and Brewer Hicklen in the Stripers lineup, reliever Tayler Scott is an alumnus (Biloxi 2016-17). As for the extra inning, the top of the 10th was not pretty for Nashville - Wilken K'd on a foul tip, Jones fanned looking, and Eddys Leonard grounded to 3rd, leaving a speedy ghost runner in Lara firmly planted. LHP Brian Fitzpatrick got the first out on a 3-1 putout to start the fateful bottom half, advancing the ghost runner. A 90 MPH chopper vs. the drawn-in infield was enough to end things - watch that here. Nothing personal vs. the Voice of the Stripers, Dave Lezotte, but we've had enough of these walk-off calls: Via the Sounds: "After Sat.'s 3-for-5 night at the plate, CF Luis Lara ranks 5th in the International League with a .370 AVG through his first 12 Triple-A games. The #12-ranked #Brewers prospect is tied for fourth in hits (17) and SB (7) and leads the league with 14 runs scored" You're invited to consult the Sounds' "X" feed for a series of five highlights - given it's a road game, Lezotte is on the calls. You'll catch Luis Lara, Greg Jones, Brock Wilken, Tate Kuehner and Will Childers along the way. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 7, Pensacola (Marlins) 5 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives - LH reliever Mark Manfredi's chat from Saturday night is available along with all this week's collection - congrats to the new dad and his wife! Via the Shuckers, game details: Shuckers Sneak Past Blue Wahoos 7-5 For Series Win - Shuckers clinch first series victory against Blue Wahoos Another fine write-up. I'm so aware of how repetitive this disclaimer is, but please review as linked just above as we tend not to rehash specific game details too often, allowing us to focus on other nuances of the day. The presence of little-used 22-year-old 3rd catcher Edgardo Ordonez (.544 OPS in 25 games with Carolina in 2025, skipping over Wisconsin to start 2026) allows for Matt Wood and Darrien Miller to rotate into the designated hitter spot, as Wood did here. Wood contributed with a sacrifice fly and a walk while Miller's fun was a bit louder - Over at the Shuckers' "X" feed, you'll find both of Eduardo Garcia's base knocks in his first game back after he broke his right wrist in Dominican Winter Ball play, along with Kay-Lan Nicasia taking advantage of his playing time opportunity given the recent outfield injuries on the Biloxi roster. Garcia did have one awkward moment early on. Hardin needed 84 pitches and only registered three innings, as he saw double-walk-single to open the 4th. RHP Stiven Cruz allowed one of Hardin's runners to score on a sacrifice fly, but as the game summary noted, would retire all 12 men he faced in a fantastic outing. Southpaws Jesus Broca and Sam Garcia made things interesting late but survived. There were also two caught stealing's, but you get the general idea here: Rattlers and River Bandits Rained Out - Saturday’s game to be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday LHP Wande Torres and RHP Braylon Owens are the scheduled Wisconsin starters. Wilson Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wilson 6, Salem (Red Sox) 3 Box Score and Game Log Warbirds Snap Skid with Victory Over Salem - Anderson’s Big Night Sparks Wilson First of all, no specific highlight here, but the effort is appreciated from the Voice of the RidgeYaks. Wilson scored six runs despite having only four hits. Each of those hits were of the extra-base variety however, three off the bat of 19-year-old Dominican native CF Jose Anderson, who had a monster game with a bases-loaded walk, two doubles and his first home run of 2026. Anderson now has 20 HR's in 148 professional contests (.750 OPS). You'll be able to view an Anderson double and his round-tripper, along with Handelfry Encarnacion's double, via the Warbirds' "X" feed. More video: The Anderson RBI walk Frederi Montero's RBI grounder Fine-to-solid work by the Wilson hurlers here - 20-year-old RHP Jarrette Bonet has now fanned ten in seven innings (1 R, 4 BB, 1 HBP). Bonet picked off two men at first to help his own cause. RHP Tanner Perry turns 23 later this week, so he'll be seeking a bump to Wisconsin, he contributed three innings though was a victim of this home run. RHP Peyton Niksch, 22, did allow a run, but it was unearned due to two passed balls by catcher Yannic Walther in the 9th. We'd love to say the Warbirds' offensive woes are solved. While drawing 12 free passes (11 BB's, 1 HBP) can be productive, 1-for-12 with RISP (11 LOB) is not. It was another night of double-digit strikeouts (11). Thank goodness for Anderson on this night. By the way, the Brewers signed Anderson to a relatively tiny $60,000 bonus in January 2024 to then see him break out with a .915 OPS in his sole Dominican Summer League season. All traditional early afternoon game times Sunday, with the Rattlers playing twice. Our friend Daniel "Ro" will have five recaps for you Monday AM - that's how it goes sometimes on our beat, as I was spared a game and Mother Nature doubled up on Ro. You'll be able to view an Anderson double and his round-tripper, along with Handelfry Encarnacion's double, via the Warbirds' "X" feed. Hope everyone has a wonderful early spring day.
