  1. An updated initial post of this thread now includes the following header: Here are the players the Brewers could lose in the 2023 Rule 5 draft. The team will put together a list of players protected at the "AAA" level (a maximum of 38), regardless of the last level played seen below. Players not included on that list could be taken in the Minor League phase of Rule 5, and the selecting team simply then owns that player, they won't be returned under any circumstances. There are 48 names listed below. In determining who they may wish to expose to that minor league phase, it may not necessarily be the furthest away from the higher levels. Organizations have exposed players to the minor league phase at times as a de-facto favor, perhaps giving them a new opportunity, while still retaining them as depth pieces if not selected.
  2. Confirming what @damuelle hinted at earlier this week:
  3. I've added Sam Carlson to the list above though his official transaction has yet to post. Carlson has lost too much time to injury to be considered for selection this year, but I always found it odd that teams announce minor league signings officially prior to Rule 5. Just wait until the next day and post then, though the league likely would frown on that. That's how future Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey was taken in Rule 5! Article linked below adds a layer of intrigue to this signing.
  4. Just making sure readers did not miss this as the thread flipped to a new page:
  5. Friday 12/1: *** A reminder that we have posted multiple links within the past week at our Minor League Forum's "Offseason Rankings" and Media thread, That includes: "Reviewing the Brew's Co-hosts David Gasper and Matt Carroll welcome Brewers minor league hitting coordinator Brenton Del Chiaro to the podcast to talk some hitting. Brenton breaks down the Brewers organizational philosophy on hitting, what a hitting coordinator does, and talks about the top hitters in the Brewers system, including newly extended Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, Joey Wiemer, Tyler Black, Brock Wilken, and so many more!"

  8. Box: Brisbane falls 4-2, to move to 6-5 on the season. 1B Tayden Hall (stats thru 38 AB's) 1-for-4 (double), one K. Wonderful start for LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (visit the same stat page) "Bandits starter and reigning ABL Pitcher of the Week Brian Fitzpatrick held his own for the visitors. The Aces were within striking distance in the first couple innings, with men on third and only one out. But Fitzpatrick played the escape artist and worked huge strikeouts of Greg Bird in the 1st and George Callil in the 2nd, getting out of the innings unscathed. Fitzpatrick gave up four hits on the night, but managed to toss four shutout innings (zero walks, one HBP, three K's), leaving the door open for his team to get some runs." - from the full game report The line from Fitzpatrick's two most recent starts: 9 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 11 K
  9. You can see two of Gardner's three K's at the 01:22 minute mark here.
  10. Thursday 11/30: VIDEO via MLB Network's "Hot Stove": Jackson Chourio discussion Via the Brewers Unfiltered Podcast - Sophia Minnaert, Adam McCalvy: "In this special offseason episode of Brewers Unfiltered, Adam and Sophia sit down with new manager Pat Murphy to cover all kinds of topics. The list includes Murphy’s first few weeks on the job, his football and boxing backgrounds, getting to know Lou Holtz and Barry Alvarez, his vision for the Club and so much more.
  11. Box: Brisbane wins, 3-0, to move to 6-4 on the season. Their disastrous 0-3 start (outscored 25-2) is now just a memory. 1B Tayden Hall (stats thru 34 AB's) 0-for-5, one K. He remains entrenched in the cleanup spot. It looked like the Bandits would continue to score in the 7th. Fritsch got his fourth knock of the series off Aces lefty Evan Rutckyj, followed by a Pineda walk. But when the scuffling Tayden Hall ripped the first pitch from Rutckyj back up the middle, the lefty made a see-it-to-believe-it play, catching the liner behind his back, doubling up Fritsch on second and nearly turning a triple play. Campbell flew out to end the inning. RH reliever Sam Gardner (visit the same stat page) continues his ridiculous pace. Inheriting one runner on second base, Gardner retired all seven men he faced (groundout to end the inning he entered) and fanned four of them. Gardner has now allowed just three baserunners over 7.1 scoreless IP (four appearances, one hit, two walks) while 18 of his 22 outs recorded have been via the strikeout.
  12. Thanks, that's why I asked, should have checked Fangraphs first. Wiemer was optioned on September 17th. It was close to be sure.
  13. Does Wiemer still have six years of team control before free agency since he did not play a full season at the big league level in 2023?
