  1. http://img46.echo.cx/img46/8851/picture26kd.jpg Edit: sorry, huge pic. This is Nakamura's crazy play at 1st. That 4th run looms large... Cmon boys...
  2. Wow, perhaps a game saving play by Nakamura at 1B...
  3. The sandwich continues to pay dividends! Ma-GROO-der with the 3B. (edit: 2B + E9, I knew that.) One run game, man on 3rd for... oh yeah...
  4. HOO-nior Spivey! Finally... something. I, for one, welcome our new cheese sandwich overlords (along with whatever else was on that thing).
  5. Haven't seen it mentioned - this ump is really calling a tight strike zone, at least for the Crew. Wise just got jobbed and Cappy's 5 walks weren't entirely the result of poor control.
  6. Wow - Cappy's doing it with mirrors tonight but he's getting it done. If this is our #4 on a bad night, I'll take it. (Accentuating the positive here, but the depressing part of the inning is coming up now...)
  7. I'll take that brandy, please. And rwa, you inspired me to stick with this game. The bats have to come alive sooner or later. Right?
  8. On the other hand... Cappy is keeping them more or less in the game... even when it's bad, our pitching has generally been pretty decent. I mean, they could have hung double digits on us in one inning, right? Do we blame Wynegar? I'm one who is always loath to say 'fire the coach!' but it sure seems like something has to give.
  9. Good Lord. I realize STL and LA are good teams, but this is painful to watch. If I weren't potentially witnessing history, I'd be over to Yanks/Rays now just because it would be nice to see someone else on the losing end of a bloodbath for once...
  10. Wow, I've lurked here a long time and this place is lately getting mean. Seriously, it reads like a Packer forum when the Pack is running .500 early in the season. Gotta relax, folks, Adams can still be a decent closer without having an ERA of 0.00. Also, in the long term it's easier to improve when you have decent pitching but lousy offense than vice versa. On the bright side, I don't see a lot of a certain type of poster making it through 75-90 more losses before moving on to some other internet pastime. That's a good thing, because the old 'you're too negative' vs. 'i can post whatever i want' flame war wears out its welcome pretty quickly. Let's go Billy!
  11. Losing record, here we come? Rolen jacks one.
  12. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Mental lapses cost us the lead. Everyone gets dumb together. Santos deserves better than that - he's dealing today. The trivia question was actually worded something to the effect of "Who are the three active players with career average over .330?"
  13. I do believe he just attempted a bunt with nobody on base. Also, the aflac trivia question - one of the answers is always playing in the game - that's the secret. (It was Ichiro, Helton, Pujols, for those of you not watching FSN)
  14. It's not like you wouldn't have scored anyway... yeesh...
  15. Ben must have known that was it - that last pitch was the hardest one of the night. 97 MPH according to FSN, and I hadn't seen him break 93-94 all night.
  16. Bob Brainerd interviews Mrs. Sheets about Ben's new contract... first question: "Did you go out and buy any new dresses yet?" She took it in stride, God bless her. Less offensive and more offense, please...
  17. Nobody up in the bullpen? Is this Dusty Baker in disguise managing?
  18. Whoa, Redman took a shot there. Looks like it nailed him right on the kneecap?
  19. So... all you armchair managers out there... would you let a glorified longman go 110+ pitches in his first start of the year? Also, point taken regarding the TOs... I think our old LF would have gotten to that one... just sayin'. That's the price we pay for having a legit RH bat in the middle of the lineup, I guess.
  20. Is a ground rule double the 4th TO? TO 3.5 maybe? Ugh Ward, ugh Ross. C'mon Glove, get out of this...
  21. Uke says the wind is definitely a factor today... Lee just missed a HR himself.
