  1. Honestly, at this point, I'd rather have Gwynn batting 8th against lefties, working the count, drawing an occasional walk, laying down a bunt here and there, and slapping the ball around, than Mench. Gwynn may not be the most productive person to have against lefties in the grand schemem of things, but IMO it would be more valueable than what Mench is doing, especially since Kevin has lost most of his power.
  2. Make that May. 8 WAS W 6-4 6.2 innings 3 earned runs (good) May. 3 PIT L 4-2 7.0 innings 4 earned runs (POOR) Apr. 28 @HOU L 10-1 5.1 innings 7 earned runs (Bad) Apr. 22 HOU W 4-3 8.0 innings 3 earned runs (good) Apr. 17 @CIN L 11-5 5.0 innings 4 earned runs (BAD) Apr. 11 @FLA W 5-2 6.0 innings 1 earned run (great) Apr. 6 CHC L 9-3 6.0 innings 6 earned runs (Bad) Bush is a better pitcher than he has shown this year, but he's simply not been the pitcher you seem to think he has been. Bush needs to show he can stop runs from crossing the plate this year. To date he hasn't really done that, or at least very inconsistently from game to game. I'm not a huge Bush guy, but he needs to step it up this year. Its still early, he may, but another year of a stellar WHIP, K/BB ratio and K per 9 with a mediocre ERA just won't do it.
  3. Just to claify, Its not Capellan, Hammond AND Dillard, but Capellan and one of the Hammond/Dillard pair.
  4. I was thinking what about: Capallen and lets say Chris Hammond or Tim Dillard to Houston for Lidge and a decent A baller Capellan would be in Houston and happy, and Lidge just needs a change of scenery IMO. Probably won't happen because both are in the same division, but IMO they match up. Thoughts?
  5. From a certain point of view, that last half inning was a thing of beauty from the Rockies. What is painful is that there is no way in heck that the Brewers could have done the same. Just far too much execution for the Brewers.
  6. Its been frustrating following the minor league clubs this year. While individual players are doing fine and are fun to follow, it would be nice for some better results on the team side. I don't think I can recall SO many leads being given away by the bullpens. Having threeo ut of four teams at or near last place does dampen morale a little I can't help but feel that the second halves will be better for both West Virginia and Brevard County. There's some talent there, I just wish they could find a way to string some wins together and stop giving away games in the late innings.
  7. I'm sorry to be a real downer here, but is there anyone besides me getting a morbid, sick sence of pleasure watching both Glover and Phelps get smoked. (Well, for me its mainly Glover). Also, anyone get the feeling that despite Glover's pitiful preformance this year and especially of late, that he will probably be trotted out to the mound every fifth day for the next month and a half? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  8. Plus, why not give Hendrickson a chance fail before just throwing him away. The Brewers have far too many minor league options for the back end of the rotation to be thinking about trading for one.
  9. Yeah, it pretty much blows that the Brewers lost, but they were one out and nobody on away from losing the opening game too. Sure, the Brewers let one get away today, but the Cubs let one get away Friday. The way I see it, we're even. While only 5 games into the season, the Brewers were living on borrowed time with Phelps to begin with IMO. The bill came due today. Other than Phelps, I was pretty gosh darned impressed with the pen in general. Especially Wise and of course JDLR. If they can limit Turnbow to bring him in in the right situations, I think there bullpen will be just fine. After yesterday, if they would have tanked it offensively I would be more upset and more doom and gloom. Scoring five runs isn't bad and they had a pretty solid offensive showing on the whole. Bummer they lost but they are better than Pittsburgh, hopefully they'll take two out of three from the Bucs.
