    Have to confess that for shirts I mostly just go to the free jersey give away days at the TRats stadium and wear those. You end up with a player name on the back (Chourio, Frelick), the colors so far end up the same as the big league team and I figure that's close enough. Heck of a lot cheaper.

    I'm getting there. I love my ball and glove golf shirt and I sprung for a Brewers ball and glove logo blanket just to get through a cold, damp Timber Rattlers double header without freezing to death last Saturday.

    Just my opinion (everyone's got one) but I think these are pretty awful. We'll see how the blue jersey looks under the lights. Maybe it will grow on me but I don't care for them right now. "Wisco" is something I've never heard someone from Wisconsin ever say, so if the "connect" (and isn't it supposed to be City Connect?) is there it appears to fall mainly with recent transplants to Wisconsin from Minnesota, Illinois, etc. who use "Wisco" far more than any native Wisconsinite that I've ever met while living in 3 different parts of the state for 50+ years.. It's not a bad thing to connect to recent arrivals to Wisconsin I guess, but I feel far more of a connection to the ball and glove logo than anything else. And I've always been annoyed by Barrel Man in any form. Not that any of that matters. I just thought the powder blue city connect and particularly the MKE hat were much, much better. I didn't buy any of that stuff either so it's pretty clear that I'm not in the target market for these alternate unis anyway.

    So just going to point out... 8-4 is a pretty good first 12 games. If you'd have told me we'd lose Priester, Chourio and Vaughn before game 1 and we'd open 8-4 I'd have been pretty damn happy with that.

    I honestly don't think Ortiz is going anywhere even if Turang ends up on the IL for the defense you've metioned. i can't imagine Matos survives Chourio's return whenever that occurs, assuming everyone else stays healthy.

    That's fair more or less across the board, particularly on the sample size. It's the "Ortiz like" part I don't get. We've got Perkins and Lockridge that provide better defense and a similar potential offensive profile on the roster already in the OF. That's why I'm just not sure what he added/adds at this point.

    I do have to say I really don't see what Matos brings to the roster that they don't already have. Maybe someone can educate me.

    Unfortunately this is probably accurate. I thought Murphy's decision to leave Mis in as long as he did (i.e., to load the bases) yesterday was pretty stupid, but put in a little more context letting Drohan wear a 3 spot in the 3rd a day later is much more excusable even when it doesn't get him through to the 5th in the end. They're in a little bit of a pinch the last 72 hours or so.

    Becoming obvious that missing Chourio and Turang simultaneously (and Contreras today on his day game day off) is just going to be too much for the bats to overcome more often than not. I get the logic of sitting Yelich against lefties at times and Contreras as load management on a day game after a night game, but it does feel like the Brewers have played the last 13 innings with one arm tied behind their back.

    First pitch swinging after 4 consecutive balls. Non-competitive at bats from 2 of the 3 hitters in the 9th. Oh well. Can't win 'em all.

    True. I don't necessarily have a problem with letting young pitchers work through it but it's a balance. If you're going to pull him at some point I'm not sure why the line is once he walks the bases full instead of 2 on if there is still a game you can win. But he may have also had a pitch number in his head as being the line instead of the game situation. I would have pulled him earlier, but it is what it is.

    The philosophy is purportedly "win today" but a couple of times already this season Murphy has made decisions that seem more focused on development than maximizing the odds of winning that particular game. IMO that is 100% what he was doing with Mis when he lost command tonight.

    Did the Red Sox some favors in that half inning. They politely tried to decline, but as the rules of etiquette indicate, it's ok to accept the double play opportunity when it's offered a second time.
