I was at both of the TRats games yesterday. Never much to add after these detailed summaries (Thanks!) but I very much enjoyed the fact that in Game 1 the whole stadium was (non-sarcastically) cheering for Martinez to throw a strike when he opened the game by throwing 1 strike and 18 balls (not to mention multiple wild pitches). Game 1 was a slog.
Game 2 was much crisper (and the strike zone more consistent until late in the game) perhaps because it was even colder and misting heavily for the first 3 innings. There were only a couple of hundred fans left for Game 2 after about 4000 showed up for game 1 and the Frelick jersey giveaway. Payne, Dinges and Bitonti all hit home runs. Dinges, who did not appear in game 1, was pulled after getting hit by a pitch (with a loud pain-driven reaction). He stayed in to run the bases but by the time of his next AB Diaz was in the lineup. The pull from the game was a little concerning after the HBP since he didn't appear in the earlier game and it was opening day, but after Diaz made the third out Dinges popped out of the dugout to warm up the pitcher in the top of the 7th while Diaz put on his gear. When some of the fans (whose inhibitions were, ahem, low after 6 hours at the ballpark and maybe another 2 in the parking lot) called out "Marcooooo" and yelled "you ok?" he turned and gave them a thumbs up before going back into the dugout. (Yes, every time some yelled "Marcooo" in game 2 someone else would yell "Polo".) Always fun at the TRats game even when it's cold as hell.
