  1. It is Hoskins for 2025. The backup is unimportant for now. It is Bauers for me for sure. Black has proven nothing or earned nothing to give him a slot. His hitting has gotten worse and worse . His defense is still about as bad as you can expect. Tyler Black looks to be going the wrong way. He needs a strong AAA season where he is only focused on playing baseball and not when his call up will be. He is a talent but so is Joey Weimer.
  2. He is terrible in the outfield . His only hope is 1st . Or traded out of this franchise. Tyler Black is losing any grip he had on future work here. Yesterday he cost Yoho runs by simply not moving his feet. He reminds me a lot of Hoskins on defense as a young player. Hoskins was just as bad as Tyler Black at 1st when he got started. He learned to be a much better 1st base after about 5 seasons in the Majors.
  3. "A Player to be named later" Might just bring Joey Weimer back to Milwaukee ! I have a feeling that is what is about to go down here. LOL . I love the idea and was a guy who just hated Joey when he was around.
  4. WE should sign him every season until he retires. WE always get something back from the move out of Milwaukee. I say make it a regular thing.
  5. But it is already used all over the place so that argument does not hold water and accepting stupid reasons is not a smart way to look at baseball problems. Umps use a double base all the time all over the place and it is not harder to see . Plus there is replay in MLB baseball if they miss something so there is no excuse. Making the bag bigger is not going to change the runners path like a double bag. I do not understand the arguments against the double base. The idea an ump cannot see it properly is not reason at all because that excuse is ridiculous and untrue. There is 0 difference between how a person that far from the base would not be able to see the play unfold because of a double base. If high school umps can manage to see the play unfold with a double base then MLB professionals can figure it out. Thanks for your response because I have not heard a argument or reason why it is not being used until you posted this reason. A bigger base is not going to open a new running lane like a double base does. Making the bag bigger does not prevent collisions . If the MLB cared that much about making the Umps job easier when that guy covering 1st has very little to do all game long in the first place instead of focusing on player safety that is just not an acceptable reason . A double base is the ONLY move here. A bigger base solves 0. you need both running lanes to avoid collisions and they are close enough together for anyone to be able to make the proper call. I appreciate your post that informed me of the reasons they are using to not go with a double bag though. I appreciate your feedback.
  6. It is 2025 and every girls and many men's semi pro and College teams already use a double base on 1st to stop this insane base runner collision issue. It is past time they use a double base at 1st in the MLB because there is no excuse for Pitchers and runners colliding at 1st base then injuring themselves with such an obvious and effectively cheap/simple solution to the problem . All teams could have the solution here before the season kicks off it is that simple and yet the MLB pushes back against a double 1st base and I have yet to hear a sound argument to why this is unliked or not used that makes any sense. Anyone out there have any of the reasons for not using one?
  7. As today started with outraged fans who just wanted Craig Yoho to pitch opening weekend in 2025 and are not getting to see that we must all take a step back and thank our lucky stars this team is in the place it is going into the opener and stop being so upset about each small transaction moving one way or another. WE are the lucky team Just ask the Pirates who just lost their other newest RHP ace Jared Jones to a Tommy John injury less than a week from the opening gun how bad things can be. Being careful with pitchers who are going to be critical to the future of this baseball team now is a SMART thing. We have a chance to win this entire damn thing in 2025 but it will take HEALTH and a lot of luck to get there and we seem to be in a very good place in that Dept. Compared to many other teams contending this season in this regard. Holding Tobias Myers out for a couple weeks after he cramped up in the chest is smart because we do not win this season without him making a big splash all over again this season. Keeping Yoho in AAA ... well not this one. My point is being Careful with Quintana,Woody and Myers is probably a good move that will have no weight in about a month when everything will be different. Baseball is change. Keeping that to a minimum will help a underdog win . If this group stays healthy it has the juice to do special things . If if does not it opens the door to new faces who can do special things. So really 2025 should be as fun as ever. GET READY!
  8. I really posted this video to show a major thing with Sal. In the report in the video Sal was 5'9'' 167lbs in HIGH SCHOOL . So we are seeing Sal has gained not one pound since his Junior season in High School until apparently this past offseason... Sal probably not getting any bigger .
  9. Is the amount the Brewers agreed to with William a sign this could be the last year in Milwaukee before you see him packaged and moved for big returns? I get the Arbitration money they agreed to pay in 2025 but the big jump up in money for 26' and Jefferson Quero being Pat Murphy's "favorite prospect ever" make me wonder if William and the Brewers agreed to his value jumping that much or are they planning a big deal to move William when the 2026 offseason gets underway and score a big haul? Could William be considered the 1st base solution of the future like his brother in St Louis? Would him being a 1st baseman increase his value while opening the door to a Quero at Catcher future for the Brewers with a William Contreras living in harmony here at 1st? I would LOVE it . Instantly our 1st base problem becomes a massive strength and our best player has a new start at an easier position that allows him to focus more on hitting. The best catcher in the game today would be the best 1st baseman overnight. Quero is better than William is at Catching. That is a lot to say about a player going against Contreras on the roster but it is the truth. Quero is a special player with homegrown defensive chops that are rare in this MLB. His bat is nowhere near William but it's also more than good enough. Keeping them both here and playing at the same time would be a nice addition to our entire offense and defense for that matter. I think Williams 1st base would be GG level day one. I would love to see him on 1st. Would anyone else? Or does it mean the Brewers think he will be worth $12+ million for 2026? That they just appreciate him and his body of work enough to pay out 12 million dollars for his services and plan to pay him accordingly ? Whichever way it falls I am sure glad that guy is on our side and think this season should be another banner season for the young slugger.
  10. I see James Woods level player in Perkins just waiting to get out. I DO NOT hold it against him that he inverts and does not let himself get attached to teammates given he has been hurt by roster moves in his past and it left an impression on Blake. Some people are loud teammates and some like Blake are to busy working on bettering themselves to be that type of player right now. I imagine Blake will hone in that part of himself when he gets himself hitting where he wants to. Blake is very much focused on being a pro baseball player and his hitting ability is not matching his output just yet. That alone can separate a player from teammates because those players feel they are not holding up their end of the work. Blake IS holding up his end while he makes himself better and Pat did a great job of making Blake know this last season and it helped him become a full time MLB Star last year who almost took home a Gold Glove . Blake is like many on this roster . A guy you want to cheer for. The guy brings more speed to the fastest team in baseball than anyone on the roster and is the best outfielder in all of baseball ALL STOP. His hitting is not bad by any means. He hit .240 and handled Lefties at a top of the league level as a versatile Switchitter holding a over .400 average for most of 2024 against them. So the reports of him being "Bad on offense" are ridiculous . League average ranged about where Perkins hit last year and we all saw he has way more to offer in that department . So when you hear people complaining about Blake with a bat in hand tell them to "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!" because Blake could turn it on and stay on for the rest of his career. It is only a matter of time. Blake can bat big for this franchise if he is not pushed out for Chourio in Center before he accomplishes those big things. I hope it happens when he is a Brewer but he has a lot of talent in front of him here and with Chourio a natural Centerfielder who has been playing the wings while he waits for an opening there I fear Blakes time here is not for the long term. So the best possible thing for both parties would be for Blake to light it up in his opportunities this season .. Giving the Brewers a missile in Trade Value they can make a hall on if outfield needy teams come calling at a trade deadline in the future . Make no mistake Blake Perkins is a SUPERSTAR who is waiting for that moment when baseball stops being a struggle and he plays as natural with a bat in his hand as he does with a glove. Blake will be super sometime and I do not believe he is that far off. Right now I am just glad he is one of us and love watching him play baseball ! I think he gets way too much heat from fans who seem to never give the guy a break but for me he is one of my favorites . Easy to say when you love everyone on this roster who is not pitcher Carlos Rodriguez.
  11. yup season tickets cost went up. So much for keeping butts in seats as the mission. Raising prices every single season needs to stop . . Reversing things and starting to let the prices go back down would be the natural response to the high prices of Baseball in 2025 . If a team made public the idea of discounting the prices to a very low level and made it the team model it would bring massive support and bring in more $ than yearly increases without question. Baseball should be affordable . I used to go to every home game and it was not my biggest bill each year which is not the case anymore. Buying season tickets for the family is a massive amount of income set aside now and it makes it much harder to be an everyday attendy for Brewers games for anyone who is not insane like we are. I would love to see a team publicly make prices decline and make it the team moto to keep baseball cheap to attend . $12 beers must go! This is Miller Park at its heart. A Team named the BREWERS should have the Cheapest beer .. Just saying! 2 Dollar beer would cut into our owners profits but it would set a standard that has been forgotten in baseball . Make Baseball Affordable again and you will bring more people to games.
  12. Watching the White Sox(yup I do that) just the other day I watched one of my favorite 2024 pitchers of the minor leagues strike out 5 Dodgers from their starting lineup, walk 0 and look like a sure thing as a Starting Pitcher in this MLB. I also watch Connor Thomas once again look like a Nashville relief pitcher who probably should not take up a 40 man roster spot let alone a 26 man spot over better pitchers in this system. I do not get it. I just don't. Shane Smith ended 2024 as one of the Sounds best starting arms. Hitting sub 2 ERA in 2023 and a respectable 3.05 ERA in 2024 he looked ready to go to this guy. In 24' He struck out 114 in 94 innings pitched last season and only gave up 6 home runs . Walked 29 of his 94 AB which was the big sticking point they used against him. Are we way to caught up on these Walks for many young pitchers on the cusp of MLB action? Randy Johnson walked people for a half a decade before he grew up and stopped walking those batters and I believe letting some of these high walk youngsters pitch despite that would make for more success stories in pitching in modernity. I get that Shanes 30% walk rate last season was unacceptable. Walks lose games and we all know that. However pitching under MLB is not pitching in MLB and sometimes when you let a pitcher work through walks they come out much better because of it and that is a ideology of coaching lost on 2025 pitching coaches. Randy Johnson walked a lot of batters but was still considered the most terrifying pitcher for batters to face at that time. Johnson was allowed to pitch and get himself and his team out of trouble and he eventually became a pitcher who walked very few through the last 3/4 of his long career. I think Shane Smith is not going to walk batters at a 30% clip and I do not believe the White Sox believe this about him now either. Is Connor Thomas better than Shane Smith? Thomas had a sub 2 ERA in 2024 in AAA. As a reliever he Walked people almost to an identical clip as Smith did with about the same number of innings pitched. Shane pitched 94 innings and walked 29 while Thomas pitched 90 innings and walked 24. So the difference is minimal and after you see them side by side Walks can no longer be the reason for the swap. Shane Smith is about to Start the 2025 season in a MLB rotation. Connor Thomas looks like we should send him back to St Louis and not screw around trying to see if his round peg fits our square . Time will tell if I am right but GO BREWERS!
  13. The one thing I could care less about in 2025 is Abner Uribe . The guy is not someone I value at all anymore and think his time here as a prospect is not as big of a deal as others do. I am not an Urbie believer. I think his issues are that of the Mexican League player destined for leagues outside of MLB and a long and hard career in baseball that sees him fighting to get back to the MLB serval times as his career goes down. He may turn a switch someday and become a pitcher you can count on but it won't be in 2025 and I doubt it will be with the Brewers at any point. I will leave room for him to prove me wrong without badgering the guy and wish him the best. I do not see it however and think all the hype surrounding him is peanuts compared to other prospects in this system . Abner looks like a wonderful trade piece when he is healthy for now though and should be as long as the Brewers keep up the hype machine and Abner keeps throwing 100 mph. With so many better options than Abner and Thomas in the Bullpen I ask why? Why Abner and Thomas and not Henderson and Yoho? Abner has done next to nothing to deserve the hype . I know he has a 100 mph pitch but so do 75 other guys playing in Mexico and Korea right now who were not good enough for the MLB mentally and Abner seems that person. I love the slap fighting pitcher as a story but as a pitcher he has not lived up to the hype and seems a lot like the Abner who struggled through March last year is brining that struggle into 2025 and well into the future as struggle is Abner Uribe in a nutshell. Thomas was always a big question mark for me. We let Shane Smith rule 5 over to the White Sox and signed Thomas to replace him when Shane Smith was 10X better than Connor Thomas . Shane Smith throws a 97 MPH fastball that has movement and he has a couple ways to throw it. Connor Thomas DOESN'T come close. Why did we do this ? Picking Thomas rule 5 is forcing him onto the 40 man. Putting a pitcher on the 40 man would have been how we kept Shane Smith but chose not to. Side by side trading Shane Smith for Connor Thomas say mid 2024 would have been considered a BAD trade that the team would never have been stupid enough to be involved with. Then 2025 offseason happens and that is essentially what we got in the end. We traded Shane Smith to the White Sox for nothing and paid the Cardinals to take a pitcher who simply has never shown to be good enough to work MLB bullpens. Shane Smith on the other hand looks like he is going to START for the White Sox opening weekend sometime in the next couple weeks while Connor Thomas looks like we should send him back to St. Louis and pay them extra to take him back before he loses games for the Brewers. A reliever who pitches early inninge like Thomas is NOT as valued as Shane Smith who just struck out Shohi , Freeman and Will Smith back to back to back just this week and has the White Sox fanbase believing they found a gem.
  14. The Radio call today called it the Yo Yo today . I cannot argue with that as I posted it as my vote day one . I love the Pirate theme a lot other than we play the Pirates in our division. Jolly Roger is a very good name. I will put it on the list and post a poll the week before opening day.
