Transactions: None Game Action: Final: DSL Brewers Blue 6, DSL LAD Bautista 0 Box Score This game started quietly on offense, with Brewers 17 year old Johandy Ramirez tossing two perfect frames in just his second professional appearance to lead off a dominant run prevention effort by the Brewers. Lonell Downs followed Ramirez and did the heavy lifting, working 5IP, 1H 0R, 1 BB, and 3K. The Brewers were held hitless until catcher Yoneiker Lugo slapped a two out single in the bottom of the third for the game’s first hit. The Dodgers didn’t manage their first hit until the fifth inning on a single off of Downs. On the day, the Brewers’ pitchers held the Dodgers to just two hits and two walks. The Brewers finally broke through with three run rallies in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Kegnnalex Seijas and Leonard RIjo drew back-to-back walks to set the table for Lugo, who singled home a run. After a strikeout and wild pitch, Jefer Lista socked a two run single to make it 3-0 Brewers. In the eighth, Moises Polanco singled and swiped two bags. After a walk to Jhoanjel Saez, Angel Gonzalez then drove in Polanco on an infield single. Seijas followed with the only extra base hit of the day for the Brewers – a two run double to center – and the Brewers led 6-0. Johan Zapata worked the final two frames scoreless for the Brewers to earn his first save of the season. Lista and Lugo each had two-hit games for the Brewers offense. Seijas now has 10 RBI and seven hits in just 20 at-bats. Seijas and Rijo are tied for the team lead in RBI, though Rijo has 38 more ABs than Seijas. Gonzalez and Polanco each stole a pair of bases for the Brewers. Final: DSL Brewers Gold 3, DSL Orioles Orange 1 Box Score The Brewers Gold had a masterful day on the mound on Monday as well as Gabriel Colmenarez started and went 5IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 1BB, and 3K to earn his first win of the season. Saul Sanchez and Ruben Saldana each worked two scoreless frames (despite a lot of traffic), with Saldana earning a save to lock up the victory for the Brewers. There was not a ton of action on the base paths for the Brewers, which has been the story so far this season. All nine Brewers starters in this game finished the game with batting averages below the Mendoza Line. The Brewers needed a wild pitch to score their first run of the game in the third. The other two runs came on sacrifice flies from Kenny Fenelon in the third and fifth innings. The team managed only six hits with just a lone double from Nicolas Barrios going for extra bases. Both DSL Brewers squads are now 7-8 on the season. FInal: ACL Brewers 17, ACL Dodgers 2 Box Score The ACL Brewers busted out the bats early on Monday night, batting around in the first inning while scoring seven runs in the opening frame. After the Dodgers put up a run on starter Joshua Quezada in the top half of the first, the Brewers did all the scoring they would need in the bottom half when seven consecutive hitters reached base with one out. The highlight of the inning was a two run knock by catcher Luis Corobo. Jadyn Fielder, Demetrio Nadal, and Handelfy Encarnacion all contributed run scoring singles in the frame as well. But the Brewers were not done after one big rally and kept the merry-go-round spinning on the Dodgers all game long. After the Dodgers tallied a run in the top of the third, the Brewers responded with a three run rally in the bottom half of the inning. Following lead off singles by Encarnacion and the rehabbing Blake Perkins, Jorge Quintana socked a ground rule double to left field for the first extra base hit of the game for the Brewers. A sac fly and then an RBI single from Fielder made it 10-2 Brewers through three innings of action. That would be enough offense for Quezada, who picked up his fifth win of the ACL season with a final line that read 5IP, 2H 2ER, 1BB, and 6K. The Brewers finished the game with multi-run rallies in each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, which included a solo blast from the 20 year old Fielder, who was 5 for 5 on the night. Fielder now sports a .981 OPS on the season after reaching base six times in this one. Seven Brewers had multi hit games, including Pedro Ibarguen, who entered the game as a defensive replacement for Perkins late and knocked in two runs. Frederi Montero, Nadal, and Ramon Flores all reached base four times. The box score was filled with crooked numbers for the Brewers offense as the Brewers had 17 hits, 9 walks, and 5 HBP on the night. Argenis Aparicio worked the final four innings cleanly - allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out two - to secure the rare 12 out save, his third of the year. A quick look at the other affiliates: The Mudcats finished off a series win versus Columbia on Sunday with a wild walk-off. The teams traded two run rallies in the bottom of the eighth and top of the ninth before Edgardo Ordonez laced a two out two strike double into the right field corner to give the Cats the victory. The Cats start the second half of the season with a 3-0 record and will look to redeem themselves after collapsing late in the first half and giving away the title to Lynchburg. Eric Bitonti has been heating up offensively for the Mudcats, hitting .275/.373/.667 in the month of June with three homers in his last four games. Check out this upper cut from Sunday: The Mudcats travel to Delmarva this week to take on the Orioles affiliate who began the second half with three consecutive losses. On the flip side of the standings, the Timber Rattlers started the second half of the season with three straight losses to first half champs West Michigan. To be fair, the T-Rats got a bit of a raw deal catching West Michigan when they did, as the Tigers are due to promote the heart of this lineup any day now. Kevin McGonigle carried a .400 average and 1.200 OPS into Saturday’s game for the White Caps, and he’s one of two players (Josue Briceno the other) with a 1.000+ OPS for West Michigan. There’s not much more for these guys to prove at the A ball level. Tip your hat to Jaron DeBerry who worked 3IP, 2H, 1R, 1BB, and 4K on Sunday, with the lone run coming on a solo blast from 2023’s #3 overall pick Max Clark. Marco DInges is a player who could soon find himself on top 100 rankings with those Tigers’ prospects as he’s continued to rake in Appleton. Like Bitoni, Dinges hit three homers last week – in three consecutive games – to boost his June slash line to a sick .359/.431/.641. Check out Friday’s moonshot here: Speaking of guys without much left to prove at this level, Jadher Areinamo has been stating his case for a promotion with a massive June as well. For the month, Areinamo sports a .364/.397/.621 with a strike out rate under 13%. The Timber Rattlers don’t have it much easier this week as they host the Quad Cities (Royals) side that’s now 41-28 on the season. Check out the weekly Rattlers pod here: In Biloxi, the eyes of Brewer Fanatic Nation will be anxiously waiting on word of Brock Wilken’s injury, as details have been minimal as Wilken travels to Milwaukee for further examination. Apparently Wilken slipped and injured his knee in the clubhouse celebration after the Shuckers clinched the first half title. That news, on the heels of an injury to Luke Adams, is just devastating for fans looking for some slugging help at the big league level. Wilken may have had an outside shot to help the Brewers this season yet, now we’re holding our breath for the best possible news. Someone wrap Cooper Pratt in bubble wrap please! Despite that, the games must go on and the Shuckers took four of six from Knoxville last week. They’ll look to keep it going when they travel to last place Columbus (Braves) this week. Tyson Hardin picked up his first win at AA last week going 6IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, and 5K. Hardin threw 54 of 79 pitches for strikes in leading Biloxi to a 6-2 win midweek over the Smokies. And finally, stop me if you heard this one before, but we could finally be approaching the end of Brandon Woodruff’s long and winding road back to the big leagues. News out of Milwaukee on Monday was that Woody may need one last tune up – possibly in Nashville – before joining the Brewers. Nashville won four of six games versus Iowa last week and will look to carry that momentum to Jacksonville this week, as they take on the Marlins’ affiliate that won the first half title in the International League. Old friend Tobias Myers looked sharp on Sunday, throwing 48 of 73 pitches for strikes en route to a 5IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 6K performance. As if the injury news from Biloxi wasn’t bleak enough, the Brewers are also awaiting word on injuries to Garrett Mitchell, Coleman Crow, and Carlos Rodriguez from last week. Transactions: RHP Yerlin Rodriguez roster status changed to Suspended by Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. RHP Ethan Dorchies assigned to Carolina from ACL Brewers No word as of this writing on the length of Rodriguez’s suspension, but Spencer Michaelis had the pitch and subsequent kerfuffle clipped here: Seemed like tensions were running high throughout the organization last week. First Rodriguez got tossed on Friday the 13th, then we had the Willson Contreras/Rhys Hoskins feud Saturday, and finally on Sunday the Shuckers game featured a half dozen ejections late in the game. Game Action: Both DSL Brewers games were halted due to rain on Monday. The DSL Brewers Blue batted around in the first inning, scoring five runs on just three hits. Before the box score got washed away, @Ro Mueller captured a few of the inning’s stats here. The Brewers Gold squad was trailing 1-0 when their game with the DSL Cleveland squad was suspended. Final: ACL Dodgers 11, ACL Brewers 5 Box Score and Wrap Luckily it never rains in the desert and the Arizona Complex League game was played in 111 degrees, because otherwise this minor league report would have been like Homer Simpson talking to Johnny Cash's Space Coyote and I would have no new information to report to you. With the promotion of Dorchies to Carolina, Joshua Quezada made his first start of the ACL season. Quezada was stretched out a bit as he worked his longest outing on the year: 4.2IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, and 4K. It was Quezada's best start since late May, as he had been tagged for 11 runs in his previous eight innings, after starting the season with seven shutout innings. On offense, the Brewers mustered only five solo tallies despite collecting ten hits, nine walks and four HBP. The team was a staggering 2 for 18 with RISP. The Brewers' first run of the game came on a vintage rookie ball rally. In the second inning, the Crew got a walk, steal, ground out, HBP, steal, and wild pitch to plate one run. Despite another wild pitch, walk, and stolen base, the Brewers could not plate another, as Kevin Ereu and the rehabbing Blake Perkins struck out to end the threat with RISP. Ereu and Perkins would atone somewhat in the fourth after Jadyn Fielder was plunked for the second time in the game. Ereu followed that HBP with a single, and eventually Perkins knocked in Fielder with an RBI ground out to tie the game at 2-2. The Brewers would briefly take the lead in the fifth inning on a solo homer from catcher Kevin Garcia, his fourth HR on the season. The lead was short lived as the Dodgers would touch up reliever Jose Meneses for six runs on five hits in the top of the sixth. Argenis Aparicio followed Meneses and allowed single tallies in the seventh and eighth innings. The star of the game for the Brewers was Fielder, who was HBP twice, socked two doubles, including one for an RBI, and also stole two bags. Garcia added an RBI single late to give him two RBI on the night. Besides Fielder's doubles and Garcia's homer, no other Brewer hitter had an extra base hit. Shortstop Jorge Quintana drew two walks and stole his 10th base of the season. Handelfry Encarnacion was on twice with a single and walk. A quick preview of the week ahead: On June 3rd, the Carolina Mudcats had a three game lead over Lynchburg in the standings. How quickly things can change. Since then, Carolina has lost 10 of their last 11, including 6 straight losses to Lynchburg last week to surrender the first half title to the Guardians’ affiliate. It’s been a brutal stretch for a team that started off the year with so much hype and positive vibes. In these dire times, it’s important to remember that the team is still nine games over .500 and Jesus Made and Luis Pena have both looked pretty comfortable (if not excelling) in their stateside debuts. The Mudcats will look to right the ship this week when they host Columbia (Royals affiliate) to end the first half of the season. For a team that once boasted what felt like a whole lineup of guys with a .900+ OPS, the offense has really cooled off. Over the last 15 days only prized prospect Made (.865 OPS) has an OPS over .700 among the regular starters in Carolina. We’re still waiting on word of when Josh Adamczewski might return from injury for the Mudcats lineup who could desperately use his bat. Perhaps the call up of Dorchies will provide a small spark and help stabilize the Mudcats rotation in the second half. At High A, The Timber Rattlers will once again be on the road as they face the Tigers’ West Michigan side that has already clinched the first half title with a 43-20 record. Jaron DeBerry will be on the bump on Tuesday night to take on the formidable Whitecaps lineup that features three top 100 prospects in Max Clark (#7 according to MLB Pipeline), Kevin McGonigle (#23), and Josue Briceño (#76). Blake Burke, who turned 22 last week, is third in the Midwest League with a .317 average. ICYMI, Spencer went deeper on Burke last week in his observations article. Eduardo Garcia blasted a homer on Saturday and now has four homers in June, contributing to a .732 slugging percentage this month, while riding a 26 game on-base streak. On the flip side, Garcia has struck out a whopping 16 times in 50 plate appearances this month. The Timber Rattlers weekly pod can be found here, which includes some explanation on the Rodriguez dust up: Some of the early season hype and vibes we felt at Carolina have been transferred to Biloxi, where the Shuckers’ magic number to clinch the first half season title is down to two games. The Shuckers had a 3-3 week in Chattanooga, but the offense continued to mash, as the team put up 43 runs in the six game series (with two of those games being seven inning doubleheaders). After the Shuckers swept the player/pitcher of the week awards last week in the Southern League, Brock Wilken took home player of the week honors this week, adding two more Brockets to his league-leading homerun total. Wilken has already matched his 2024 output with 17 homers in about half (405 to 214) the at-bats this season. It’s safe to say that Wilken, who turns 23 years old on Tuesday, is pounding on the door of a promotion to AAA Nashville should a spot (Anthony Steigler promotion??) open up on the infield. Luke Adams has a 1.269 OPS in the month of June and is nearly lock step at the plate with his Biloxi Bash Brother Brock. Both players sport a season-long .924 OPS and both are top three in the Southern League in homers, walks, RBI, on-base, and slugging. Adams just turned 21 and he’s going to be blocked at AAA by Nashville's crowded infield scene with Ernesto Martinez Jr. healthy, the recently acquired Andrew Vaughn now in the fold, and even Tyler Black getting the occasional start at first for the Sounds. Recently promoted catcher Matthew Wood is 9 for 15 this month in Biloxi with a homer and three walks. As always, we conclude the trip around the organizational horn in Nashville, where the Sounds will mirror the Brewers in taking on the Cubs organization this week when they host Iowa. Nashville gained ground on first place Lehigh Valley last week, but they’ll need a small miracle to overcome their six game deficit now with nine games left in the first half. The aforementioned Seigler continues to rake, with a .995 OPS over the last 15 days, while continuing to take reps at the hot corner in three of four games he played in last week. Seigler may have been a Contreras’ hip check away from getting the call, had Caleb Durbin been injured in that collision. Jeferson Quero played in four games last week, three behind the dish (which is the limit for now) and one as designated hitter. The guys on the Brewers Fanatic podcast mentioned last week Sounds’ manager Rick Sweet’s comments about Quero’s arm which are worth repeating here. Sweet said Quero has “twelve bolts” in his shoulder and that he may never throw like the 80 grade arm Quero possessed pre-injury. Not great… Harkens back to Jimmy Nelson. Hear Sweet for yourself here, with the thoughts on Quero about two minutes in. With the well-deserved promotion of Jacob Misiorowski to The Show last week, Logan Henderson now becomes the Sounds’ ace. Henderson will look to bounce back from Friday’s performance when he allowed a season-high nine hits in just over five innings. Henderson managed to somehow only allow one run, lowering his ERA to 1.87 in AAA this season. Former Brewers’ bullpen mainstays Joel Payamps and Elvis Peguero combined for five innings pitched and zero earned runs last week, as they look to work their way back to the majors. As Brewers Fanatics play arm-chair GM leading up to the trade deadline, the potential haul is continuously bandied about, but rarely is it discussed what it would require to bring in help. Could any of the above players be on the move to bring back some immediate help for the parent club? The system looks loaded with infield talent, with Burke, Adams, and Wilken all producing at the corners and Cooper Pratt, Pena, and Made (to name a few) drawing praise up the middle. Even with the departure of Aaron Civale last week, the Brewers still possess starting pitching depth that they could look to deal. Transactions: OF Demetrio Nadal &nbspassigned to ACL Brewers from Carolina Mudcats Game Action: Final: ACL Brewers 6, ACL Athletics 5 Box Score and Wrap Another Monday night start for Ethan Dorchies, and another sterling performance for the Brewers big righty, as the ACL Brewers hung on for a 6-5 victory, producing the lone win for the organization on Monday night. Dorchies went five scoreless, allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out five. For the season, Dorchies has a 1.67 ERA and .85 WHIP in 27 innings pitched. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when the Brewers played small ball to plate three runs and appeared poised to give Dorchies his first pro win. Tyler Black started the rally with a walk, followed by a Frederi Montero single. Luis Corobo drove in Black with a single, and then Roderick Flores walked to load the bases for Jadyn Fielder. Another walk to Fielder made it 2-0 Brewers before a pitching change and then a ground out from Kevin Garcia made it 3-0. The Brewers lead quickly evaporated in the following half inning as the A’s welcomed Brewers reliever Joshua Quezada with a single, double, and homer to tie the game in the sixth inning. The Brewers responded with another three run rally of their own in the bottom of the sixth, which would put them in control for good. Engel Paulino singled with one out in the frame, then stole second and third, to move into a tie for the ACL league lead with thirteen steals on the season. The thirteen steals match Paulino’s season total from 49 games last year in the DSL. Black and Montero then walked to once again load the bases for Corobo, who drove in one with a single. Flores then doubled to make it 6-3. Quezada nearly went the distance to poach the win in relief. However, he ran into trouble in the ninth and gave way Jose Nova who secured the final two outs to earn the save. The ACL Brewers improved to 18-10 on the season, the second best record at the Complex League behind only the 20-7 Giants team. Other notes offensively: The Brewers pounded out 10 hits in this one, highlighted by multi-hit efforts from Paulino, Montero and Corobo. However, the team left 11 runners on base, due in large part to a combined 3 for 15 with RISP. Fielder’s leadoff triple in the second – his third three bagger of the season – was one example of the Brewers inability to produce in the clutch. Fielder was left stranded after the next three men were retired in order. Final: DSL Cubs Blue 5, DSL Brewers Gold 3 Box Score and Wrap The DSL Brewers Gold team fell to 1-5 on the young season with a loss to the DSL Cubs Blue squad on Monday. Gabriel Colmenarez, a 19 year old right hander pitching in the DSL for the third consecutive season, pitched well in this one for the Brewers, going 5IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, and 7K. In ten DSL innings this year, Colmenarez sports a 11:4 K:BB ratio while holding opponents to a .182 average. Unfortunately for Colmenarez, the Brewers offense couldn’t muster much support, tallying individual runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings on just four hits in the game. Juan Martinez opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the fourth, but was then stranded on third as the next three hitters failed to knock him in. In the fifth, Romano Donato led off with a solo homerun to tie the game at 2-2. The Cubs would homer off reliver Saul Sanchez in the sixth to snatch the lead back in the following inning. The Brewers would tack on a late run in the seventh inning on a walk, a balk, and two throwing errors to close the gap to 4-3 before falling by a final score of 5-3. Top signees from this year’s international class Kenny Fenelon and Cristopher Acosta combined to go 0 for 9 at the top of the order in the game, with Acosta now off to a 0 for 21 start (with two walks) to his professional career. The DSL Brewers are back in action Tuesday at the DSL Pirates Gold team, with both teams searching for win number two. Final: DSL Tampa Bay 8, DSL Brewers Blue 5 Box Score and Wrap The DSL Brewers Blue wasted no time getting on the board in their Monday game versus the DSL Rays. After top 2025 international signee Brailyn Antunez reached on an error, Gerlyn Payano (in his professional debut) singled him home. Shortstop Leonard Rijo followed with his own RBI single, continuing his hot hitting to start the DSL season. Rijo is now 10 for 23 on the season with four walks through six games. The score would remain 2-0 until the fourth inning, when Carlos Done would unleash his first professional homerun – a two run shot following a Jefer Lista single – to put the Brewers up 4-0. In the bottom of the fifth, the Rays began their rally off of Brewers starter Lonell Downs. The 18 year old Nicaraguan scattered three hits and a walk over his first four scoreless innings, but gave up three singles to the first four hitters to plate a run in the fifth before being pulled for Johan Zapata. Zapata would allow the two inherited runners to score, making it 4-3 Brewers through five. Zapata would be victimized by his wildness in the sixth and seventh, with the Rays rallying for five more runs, aided in part by two walks, two wild pitches, and a balk. Rays infielder Kleiver Chauran provided the decisive blow – a three run shot in the sixth – to give the Rays a lead they would not relinquish. Brewers reliever Jhosep Ospino worked the final five outs of the game cleanly to finally stop the bleeding. Ospino has yet to allow a run over five innings of DSL ball this year. The DSL Brewers Blue will look to get back over .500 Tuesday when they host the DSL Astros Blue. A quick preview of the week ahead: The first place Carolina Mudcats are coming off a 2-4 week, which was their first losing week since late April. The Cats will look to bounce back as they travel to Lynchburg (Guardians’ affiliate) this week with first place in the Carolina League North on the line. The Cats hold a slim one game lead in the standings over Lynchburg. On Sunday, Jose Anderson ripped his first homer at the Low A level to help the Mudcats snap their four game losing streak. In Appleton, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers got above .500 by taking four of six games from Cedar Rapids last week. Next up will be a series with the Dodgers’ Great Lakes affiliate, as the T-Rats look to gain ground on first place Quad Cities (five straight losses) in the standings. Eduardo Garcia is looking to restore his prospect status with a recent run of torrid play – since May 16, he’s rocking a .325/.393/.688 slash that brings his overall season line up to 277/.353/.505. Garcia’s ten homeruns now rank second in the Midwest League and he’s putting out highlight reel catches too: Not to be outdone, Blake Burke is third in the Midwest League among qualified hitters with a .325 average on the season. Marco Dinges has also looked the part since his promotion from Carolina, sporting a solid .322/.338/.458 slash line in 16 games at High A. Jaron DeBerry will look to build on his best start for Wisconsin, (5.1IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 4K) while Tyson Hardin will look to bounce back from his worst start of the season (4IP, 10H, 7R, 6ER, 1BB, 4K) towards the end of the week. The Shuckers lead the eight team Southern League in runs, run differential, homeruns, on-base, and slugging. The Biloxi Bash Brothers, Brock Wilken and Luke Adams, rank first and fourth in the Southern League in homers, with Wilken’s 15 bombs, five more than the next closest hitter. Not to be lost in their immense shadows, 26 year old utility man Zavier Warren has also added eight homers, good for sixth in the Southern League. Wilken, Adams, and Warren rank 1-2-3 in the Southern League in RBI. Impressive stuff for a league not known to be kind to hitters. In case you missed it, Wilken’s 15th Brocket of the year was a grand slam: Adams and pitcher Coleman Crow swept the Southern League player of the week honors: And finally, the trip around the horn brings us to Nashville, who finished the week with three straight wins to close the gap to 4.5 games back of International League leader Lehigh Valley. Next up for Nashville is a trip to Norfolk to take on the Orioles affiliate. Norfolk sports the second lowest win total in the 20 team league. Anthony Seigler continues to state his case for a spot on the 40 man roster, as he’s now slashing .307/.444/.521 on the season, while riding a 31 game on-base streak. You have to go back to April 24 to find a game when Seigler last failed to reach base. Should the Brewers look for a spark on their infield, Seigler could be next man up, but the recent run of good play of Caleb Durbin may keep Seigler in the minors a while longer. Top catching prospect Jeferson Quero made his return to AAA last week. Quero was 4 for 14 in his first four games back from his rehab assignment with the ACL Brewers. Rumor has it Tyler Black could be close to returning to Nashville soon as well, as he could look to state his case for a call-up, if he can get his bat going like he had it back in 2023. Transactions: None Final: ACL Mariners 7, ACL Brewers 5 Box Score and Wrap The ACL Brewers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in this one on a pair of RBI singles from Jadyn Fielder and Pedro Ibarguen in the second inning. The early lead was enough for ACL Brewers staff ace Ethan Dorchies, who continued his impressive stretch of pitching in this one. The big 6’5” right hander threw 44 of 75 pitches for strikes, resulting in a line of 5IP, 2H 1ER 3BB and 5K, which staked the Brewers to a 2-1 lead when Dorchies exited the game after five innings. On the season Dorchies now sports a 2.05 ERA with a 27:6 K:BB ratio in 22 innings. Here’s some highlights of Dorchies’ earlier work this season, courtesy of Brewers PD’s X account: With Dorchies out, the Mariners quickly rallied for three runs in the sixth inning, aided in part by three wild pitches from Brewers reliver Joshua Quezada. The Mariners led 4-2 after six innings and the score remained that way until the bottom of the 8th, when the Brewers appeared poised to snatch the game back with a two out rally. A pair of walks sandwiched around a single by catcher Luis Corobo loaded the bases for Fielder. Fielder delivered with a bases-clearing triple, part of a four RBI night for Fielder, to give the Brewers a 5-4 lead after eight innings Unfortunately for the Brewers the lead did not last long. In the top of the ninth, the Mariners rallied off of new reliver Cesar Espinal with a bloop and a blast from their first two hitters to re-take the lead. The Mariners then added an insurance run to make it 7-5, which is how this one would end. Besides Fielder’s late triple, the Brewers only produced one other extra base hit – a double from shortstop Jorge Quintana – who was the only other player with multiple hits for the Brewers in this one. Frederi Montero had a single in four at-bats in this one, which actually lowered his season average below .400. Montero has reached based in 14 of his last 15 games, with the one game exception the result of a hitless pinch hit appearance. Ibarguen swiped his team leading ninth steal in this one. Final: DSL Brewers Blue 8, DSL Rojos 1 Box Score and Wrap The DSL Brewers Blue squad came out swinging early and opened their season with an 8-1 victory over the Rojos on Monday. Frandy Lafond had a two run double to open scoring in the first inning as the tagged Rojos starter Moises Castillo for six hits, two walks and three runs in the first two innings. Lafond also drew two walks in the game. Carlos Done, who missed all of 2024 with an injury, paced the Brewers offense in this one, going 3-4 with two steals. Done’s two run double in the 4th gave the Brewers a 6-1 lead. Kegnnalex Seijas added two hits, including an RBI single in the 2nd, and two steals for the DSL Brewers Blue. Leonard Rijo, a 17 year old shortstop who signed for $175,000, also collected two hits, drove in a run, and stole a base. Centerfielder Brailyn Antunez, considered one of the top Brewers’ signings in the 2025 international class, made his debut in centerfield and drew a walk in four plate appearances while batting leadoff. Atunez was ranked as the #42 overall prospect by MLB pipeline in this class and signed for $900,000. On the mound, Ayendy Bravo, in his second year of DSL ball, limited the Rojos offense to three hits and one unearned run while striking out seven in five innings of work. Fenelon, who signed for $1.3 million, was ranked #36 overall by MLB pipeline in this year’s international class. Other top signee Cristopher Acosta, ranked #45 and signed for $1.1 million, went 0-4 while debuting at shortstop for the Brewers. Gabriel Colmenarez toed the slab for the Brewers Gold in this game, and his line read 5IP, 2H, 2ER, 3BB, and 4K. Ruben Saldana and Saul Sanchez worked the final three innings of this one and combined to strike out five Orioles hitters. A quick preview of the week ahead for the other affiliates: The first place Carolina Mudcats host the Rays’ Charleston affiliate this week. Luis Pena returned from a concussion last week and all he did in his return was earn Carolina Player of the Week honors: The Timber Rattlers play host to the Twins’ Cedar Rapids affiliate this week. The Rattlers have won nine of their last 12 games to pull within one game of .500 on the season. Tyson Hardin will look to continue to dominate the Midwest League after posting some ridiculous stats in the month of May: 30IP, 26H, 5ER 2BB and 33K. For more Rattlers coverage, you can find their weekly pod here: In Biloxi, the Shuckers play host to the Biscuits, who they split a six game series with in mid-May. The Shuckers will look to bounce back from their first losing week since the beginning of April. The first place Shuckers hold a two game lead over the Biscuits (Rays affiliate) in the standings. Coleman Crow capped the week with a win for the Shuckers on Sunday, defeating his former team. Finally in Nashville, the first-place Sounds host last place Gwinnett this week. All eyes will be on Brandon Woodruff, as he once again approaches the potential end of his rehabilitation assignment in AAA. With a logjam of starting pitching, it remains to be seen how Woody, Jacob Misiorowski, and Logan Henderson can force their way on to the big league mound, without someone getting injured or being demoted unceremoniously. Final: ACL Brewers 19, ACL Padres 9 Box Score and Game Log The ACL Brewers jumped on the ACL Padres early and often in Monday’s Arizona Complex League action. There was no shortage of stars for the Brewers’ offense, which pounded out a staggering 19 runs on 19 hits. Seven players had multi-hit games, led by center fielder Jose Anderson’s big night – four runs, three hits, (including his 3rd ACL homer of the season) three RBI, and two steals. Third baseman Frederi Montero chipped in with a three hit effort to raise his season average to .476 (10/21). Second baseman Juan Ortuno socked a first inning homer and knocked in three runs. Left fielder Engel Paulino had a two-run triple and also drove in three runs. The game also featured the 2025 season debut of the Brewers #2 prospect, catcher Jeferson Quero, who returned to live game action for the first time since tearing his labrum in the first inning of the first game of the 2024 season at Nashville. Quero, recovering from a spring hamstring sprain, played three innings behind the plate and though he was hitless in his two at-bats, it marked a significant step for Quero to get back to action for the first time in over 13 months. After Jorge Quintana and Quero went down in order to start the game, Anderson was hit by a pitch, then stole second, and came around to score on right fielder Handelfry Encarnacion’s RBI single. Ortuno clubbed his second ACL homer of the season to make it 3-0, a lead the Crew would not relinquish, before Jayden Dubanewicz took the mound for his second professional start and worked a 1-2-3 first inning. Montero doubled to lead off the second inning and came around to score on a Paulino single to make it 4-0 Brewers. Dubanewicz ran into some trouble in the second when he allowed three singles – one on a soft ground ball to third – which produced two runs (one earned) for the Padres. Dubanewicz’s line for the night read 4IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 2K for last year’s 16th round draft pick. The Brewers offense went dormant for the 3rd through 5th innings before outbursts of four, three, one, and seven had the Padres (1-6 in ACL play) waving the white flag. Twenty-three-year-old, 6’5” righthander Jose Nova picked up the win in relief, and was the only Brewer pitcher to not get tagged for multiple runs. Nova’s clean fifth inning after inheriting a runner from Dubanewicz might be the lone bright spot for the Brewers’ pitching staff that allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 14 hits. The ACL Brewers (6-2) are back in action Tuesday night against the ACL Dodgers (5-2). A quick look at the week ahead for the rest of the Brewer’s affiliates: The first place Carolina Mudcats return home to Five County Stadium, where the team is 11-3 on the young season. The Mudcats are coming off a 4-2 week at Kannapolis that ended Sunday with the first shutout loss of the season for the high-octane Mudcats’ offense. The Mudcats will look to get back on track this week against the Fayetteville (Astros affiliate) run prevention unit that ranks 2nd in the Carolina League with 4.21 runs allowed per game. Jesus Made, who Baseball America moved from #16 to #6 overall in their latest Top 100 prospects release last week, had three multi-hit games and went 5/6 in stolen base attempts last week for Carolina. MLB Pipeline also moved Made up their prospect rankings in their update on Monday, from #49 overall to #23 overall, indicating we may be approaching the height of Made Mania. One need to look no further than last week’s release of Made’s first Bowman baseball card as evidence of the hype surrounding Made, who just turned 18 years old last week. Here's a look at an opposite field double from Made: In Appleton, the Timber Rattlers will play host to the Beloit Sky Carp (Marlins affiliate). The Timber Rattlers’ offense should be in for a stiff test as the Sky Carp feature two of the Marlins’ top pitching prospects in Thomas White (Marlins #1 according to MLB Pipeline, 35th overall pick in 2024) and Noble Meyer (Marlins #5 prospect, 10th overall pick in 2023). Blake Burke (34th overall pick out of the University of Tennessee in the 2024 draft) is riding a nine-game hit streak for Wisconsin, slashing .324/.390/.513 with a homer and six RBI during that stretch. Check out Burke’s first professional three bagger here: On the mound for Wisconsin, Bishop Letson (1ER in his last 16IP) will look to continue his dominance, while Tyson Hardin will look to bounce back from his first tough start (6IP, 9H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 5K) of the season last week. For more on the T-Rats, check out their weekly roundup: In Mississippi, the Shuckers stayed hot and moved into first place in the Southern League with a 5-1 week, led by the Biloxi Bash Brothers, Brock Wilken and Luke Adams. Wilken is now slashing .382/.476/.912 with five home runs and 11 RBI through 10 games this month. Here’s a compilation of Wilken’s recent long balls: Adams, who hit leadoff for the Shuckers last week, had a very slow start to the season, but now has put together a solid three week stretch of games highlighted by the Brewers PD X account: Brewers fans, there’s hope that the Brewers can finally develop a home-grown corner infielder. The Shuckers travel to Montgomery this week and will look to keep the gravy train rolling over the Biscuits (Rays affiliate). Finally at Nashville, the Sounds are coming off a 3-3 week but remain in first place in the International League West. The maturation of Jacob Misiorowski continues to be must-see tv: In addition to Miz, Brewers fans will want to keep an eye on the Sounds’ trip to Memphis (Cardinals affiliate) this week for the rehabbing Aaron Civale and Aaron Ashby, with DL Hall also rumored to be joining the club soon too. Not to be lost in the shuffle of major leaguer's rehab assignments, Logan Henderson has continued to pitch well (16IP, 9H, 3ER, 1BB, 16K) since his sparkling Major League debut on April 20. With the plethora of arms soon to be re-joining the big-league club, and others like Misiorowski and Henderson banging on the Brewers’ clubhouse door, it will be interesting to see how the Brewers’ front office manages the upcoming roster crunch. Dubanewicz signed on deadline day last year for $665K out of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to forego a commitment to the University of Florida (brief pre-draft Instagram video here). Dubanewicz comes equipped with a three-pitch mix – fastball, sweeping slider, and changeup. With a 6’3” frame there’s reason to believe he will add to his fastball velocity, which sat 91-93 and topped out at 94 MPH in high school. However, Dubanewicz’s first professional inning started unceremoniously with a missed catch fielding error by leftfielder Jadyn Fielder on the first batter of the game, followed by a one-out single to give the ACL Cubs a 1-0 lead just three batters in. In the bottom of the first, Jose Anderson hit a two-out, solo homerun to center to tie things at 1-1. Anderson, who clubbed eight homers and slugged .515 in 46 games in the DSL last year, later added another solo shot in the 3rd inning. Dubanewicz rebounded with a clean second inning despite another defensive miscue, this time from second baseman Juan Ortuno. In the bottom of the second inning, Ortuno, who hit a grand slam in his first stateside at-bat on Saturday, atoned for his error with a single and a steal in front of Jadyn Fielder. Fielder, the son of former Brewer Prince Fielder and grandson of Cecil Fielder, then homered to right center – in his first professional at-bat – to give the ACL Brewers a 3-1 lead. Dubanewicz was knocked out in the fifth inning after a leadoff triple and fielder’s choice tied the game at 4-4. The final line for Dubanewicz’s ACL debut read: 4IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 1BB, 5K. He threw 46 of his 73 pitches for strikes, while generating 10 whiffs. Dubanewicz gave way to Joshua Quezada, a 21-year-old right hander acquired from the Yankees last February for Clayton Andrews. Quezada worked 1-2-3 to close the fifth and the Brewers rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom half to retake a 6-4 lead. The highlight of the rally was catcher Luis Corobo’s first stateside hit, a double, which was sandwiched between a walk, two HBP, and a wild pitch. Quezada worked a clean sixth, and the Brewers tallied five runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning, despite again only producing one hit – a Frederi Montero two-run single. The chaotic inning featured five walks and two wild pitches from Cubs relivers and ended with the Brewers in the lead 11-4. The inning was emblematic of the entire affair - overall the two sides committed six errors, threw six wild pitches, hit three batters and left fifteen men on-base. Looking at the week ahead for the other Brewers’ affiliates… In Low-A Ball, the first place Carolina Mudcats head to Kannapolis to face the second place Ballers, the White Sox affiliate. After taking three of five in the series versus the Cubs’ Myrtle Beach affiliate last week, the Mudcats now own a 8-3 head-to-head record on the young season against the Cubs’ affiliate. The Mudcats prospect-laden offense leads the Carolina League in hits, runs, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. At High-A, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers start a series in Peoria against the St. Louis Cardinals affiliate. When Tyson Hardin's turn comes up, he could be making the case for a promotion and will look to build on last week’s masterful 7IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 9K performance. In Biloxi, the red hot Shuckers (winners of three in a row and 8 of their last 10) will host first place Pensacola, and look to carve into the Marlins’ affiliates’ three game division lead. Finally at AAA, Nashville hosts the Orioles affiliate Norfolk this week and Sounds fans will get an up-close look at the top catching prospect in the minors, Samuel Basallo. The week in Nashville could feature the final rehab start for Brandon Woodruff, who is slated to pitch Tuesday, while top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski looks to continue his recent brilliance (17IP 9H 1ER 5BB 22K in his last three starts).
