Thurs. 7/2: Hopeful for a Frank Cairone Sighting
Ben Lepak replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
He pulled up a bit hobbled in the 9th inning on his GIDP. If you have access to MiLB TV, it's at the 3:13:28 mark of the game. I have not seen any update since then -
Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers selected the contract of RHP Garrett Stallings from Nashville Sounds. Milwaukee Brewers optioned LHP Robert Gasser to ACL Brewers. Nashville Sounds activated RHP Kaleb Bowman from the Development List. OF Josiah Ragsdale assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Biloxi Shuckers placed RHP Tanner Gillis on the 7-Day Injured List Biloxi Shuckers placed RHP Ryan Birchard on the 7-Day Injured List Biloxi Shuckers released CF Dasan Brown. C David García assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. C Yannic Walther assigned to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from Wilson Warbirds. SS Tyler Rodriguez assigned to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from Wilson Warbirds. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers transferred RHP Bryan Rivera from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. C Eric Martinez assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. DSL Brewers Gold activated LHP Daniel Garcia from the 7-day injured list. DSL Brewers Gold transferred LHP Santiago Martinez from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. Game Action: Nashville 8, Jacksonville (Marlins) 4 Box Score As always, you are encouraged to read the official round-up from the team’s site: Nashville Erases Early Deficit to Take Series Opener over Jumbo Shrimp Nashville showcased their resilience on Tuesday night, erasing an early four-run deficit to defeat Jacksonville 8-4. Things looked grim in the opening frame when Jacksonville tagged Sounds’ starter Thomas Pannone for four quick runs. However, Pannone dug deep and found his rhythm, tossing four consecutive scoreless innings after the rocky first. His ability to stop the bleeding kept Nashville in the game. Nashville's bats chipped away at the lead with single runs in the second and third innings, highlighted by a solo blast from Jeferson Quero, seen here courtesy of the Sounds’ X account: The Sounds then broke things open in the later frames. First steady Eddys Leonard knocked in a run on an RBI single in the 6th. Then Jett Williams followed up with a looping single to tie the game. Leonard has been one of the unsung heroes for the Sounds this year, while being either first or second on the club in hits, doubles, home runs, and OPS. In the 7th, Brock Wilken broke the tie with a clutch three-run home run: Wilken, who saw his playing time diminished in June, finished the night with three hits and was a triple shy of the cycle. For the month of June, Wilken sported a respectable .233/.361/.517 slash line in 72 plate appearances. Luis Lara had two hits including a triple. Williams knocked in two runs on the night before getting ejected (presumably for his frustration on the out call on his game-tying single). While Wilken and the Sounds’ offense provided the fireworks, the comeback would not have been possible without the stellar work from Lyon Richardson. Richardson earned the win in relief by slamming the door on Jacksonville with a line of 3.2 IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB and 2K. Richardson now has a 1.38 ERA in 13IP with Nashville. Nashville is now 47-35 on the season and 4-3 in the second half. Biloxi pre-game media notes Chattanooga (Reds) 6, Biloxi 5 (suspended in the bottom of the 5th, to be completed on Wednesday) Box Score (Thus Far) Mother Nature is the only force more powerful than Andrew Fischer and the Biloxi offense… at least for now. Fischer smoked two two-run home runs in his first two at-bats before the rain came. You can check out the blasts here, courtesy of the Shuckers X account: Jesus Made singled in front of both Fischer dingers and scored twice before play was halted. Not to be overshadowed, the newest Shucker, Josiah Ragsdale, also homered in his second at-bat at the level: Josh Adamczewski was 0-for-2, and will look to extend his AA hit streak to 11 games tomorrow. He did come up with this fine throw from left field though: They’ll try to play two (or one and a half) tomorrow. RHP Manuel Rodriguez (7-2, 4.66 ERA) was originally slated to start Wednesday’s game for Biloxi. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Wisconsin 5, Peoria (Cardinals) 4 Box Score Wisconsin Holds on for Win at Peoria Wisconsin showed their mettle on Tuesday in their 5-4 victory over Peoria. The game swung back-and-forth in the early innings, and then Wisconsin held on for the one-run victory over the final five scoreless innings. Wisconsin struck first and built a 3-0 advantage, highlighted by Tayden Hall's two-run homer in the top of the third. Check out Hall’s shot courtesy of the Rattlers’ X account: Hall paced the Rattlers with three hits on the night. However, Peoria immediately responded with a massive four-run rally in the bottom half of the frame to erase the deficit and take the lead. Refusing to be rattled, the Wisconsin offense answered the very next inning when center fielder Braylon Payne launched his 16th home run of the year, a crucial two-run shot that put the Timber Rattlers back on top for good: Could Payne soon be the next Rattler to earn a promotion? He’s carrying a .983 OPS with the conclusion of Tuesday’s game. The Rattlers managed 11 hits, including multi-hit games from Eric Bitonti, Luis Castillo, and Tyler Rodriguez in his High A ball debut. However, the team could have put the game away had they had more success with RISP, finishing 1-for-12 on the night. On the mound, starting pitcher Josh Knoth rebounded from the rocky third inning to finish five solid frames, striking out four and earning his second win of the season. The 20-year-old Knoth finished June with a 20:5 K:BB ratio in 21.2IP. The bullpen then completely shut the door on any Peoria comeback hopes. Jason Woodward and Quinton Low were spectacular in relief, combining to throw four scoreless innings while striking out five to preserve the one-run advantage, with Low recording the final five outs to notch his first save of the year. The win moves Wisconsin to an impressive 43-29 on the season and 8-1 in the second half. RHP Ethan Dorchies (2-5, 5.84) will look to build on his strong month of June when he takes the hill as we flip the page to July. Dorchies carried a 3.18 ERA in 20IP in the month of June and was dominant (7IP 5H 1ER 1BB 3K) his last time out. Wilson pre-game media notes Wilson 3, Kannapolis (White Sox) 2, F/11 Box Score Wilson Outlasts Kannapolis in 11-Inning Marathon Wilson secured a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory in 11 innings against Kannapolis on Tuesday night at Wilson Ballpark. After falling behind 2-0 early in the game, the Warbirds' offense finally scraped together a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th. The Warbirds plated two runs on RBI groundouts from Juan Ortuno and Alexander Frias, with just one hit (a leadoff single from Handelfry Encarnacion) in the inning. The score remained knotted at two apiece thanks in large part to a dominant relief effort from the Warbirds staff. After starter Hayden Robinson gave up two runs over his five innings of work, reliever Miqueas Mercedes took over and completely silenced the Kannapolis’ bats. Mercedes tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four to keep the Warbirds in the game. Joshua Quezada then took the mound for extra innings and was perfect, pitching two hitless, scoreless frames in the 10th and 11th with three strikeouts to earn his third win of the season. That set the scene for Jadyn Fielder to be the hero in the bottom of the 11th. With a runner starting on second, Kevin Garcia singled to put runners on the corners. Fielder came through with a single and the Warbirds had another walk-off victory. Fielder, who earlier had a double, accounted for half of Wilson’s four hits on the night. With the win, Wilson moves to 5-5 in the second half and 41-35 on the season. RHP Tyler Renz (2-3, 4.60 ERA) is slated to take the mound on Wednesday for Wilson. ACL Padres 8, ACL Brewers 4 Box Score It was a tough night in the Arizona Complex League for the Brewers’ side. The Padres capitalized on the nine free passes and a couple of costly Brewers fielding errors to build a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Starter Dariel Jaquez flashed some swing-and-miss stuff with three strikeouts but ultimately took the loss after issuing six walks in just three innings of work. Joan Pena surrendered six runs (though only three were earned) over four innings, plagued by four wild pitches. Despite the messy play on the mound and in the field, the Brewers' offense showed some life in the late innings. Trailing 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Brewers’ bats finally woke up. Engel Paulino delivered the biggest blow of the frame, ripping a clutch two-run double, that cut the deficit to a tantalizingly close 5-4. Kenny Fenelon also drove in a run with a double of his own in the inning. Unfortunately, the momentum was short-lived. The Padres immediately answered back with a three-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach and seal the 8-4 final. First baseman Roderick Flores was a bright spot at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. The ACL Brewers are now 23-21 on the season. DSL Tampa Bay 8, DSL Brewers Blue 3 Box Score The DSL Brewers Blue dropped an 8-3 decision to DSL Tampa Bay in a game defined by severe control issues from the Brewers' pitching staff. Starter Luis Aguayo struggled right out of the gate, surrendering five earned runs on five hits in just 1.1 innings to take the loss. The bullpen couldn't seem to find the strike zone either, as the Brewers' staff combined to issue a staggering 11 walks, four hit batters, and five wild pitches constantly giving Tampa Bay free baserunners and putting themselves in high-stress situations. Despite the constant traffic on the basepaths, the Brewers were actually quite fortunate the final score wasn't far more lopsided. With the 15 free passes and nine hits allowed, Tampa Bay had runners on base all afternoon but failed to capitalize on the vast majority of their opportunities, going a dismal 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position. Reliever Wilmer Duarte helped stem the bleeding and kept the game from getting completely out of hand, eating up five innings and allowing just one run, though he danced around danger by walking four and hitting three batters of his own. Offensively, the Brewers Blue simply couldn't generate enough consistent offense to dig themselves out of the early hole. They managed eight hits on the day, highlighted by second baseman Leanders Matos, who went 2-for-4, with two runs driven in, and provided a late spark with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. The 16-year-old is putting himself on the prospect radar with a 1.029 OPS in his first 20 games. Right fielder Frandy Lafond added a pair of singles to up his average to .372 on the season. Shortstop Jose Rodriguez was on base three times (single, two walks) and the 17-year-old has a .844 OPS through his first 22 games of DSL play. However, much like their opponents, the Brewers struggled to deliver the clutch hit when it mattered most, finishing the game just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and leaving seven men on base. Just one early morning DSL game tomorrow. Then we'll have our normal affiliate games in the evening, and the completion of Biloxi's game as well. How many home runs will Andrew Fischer hit tomorrow? Grand Slams? We got 'em in pairs! Flirtations with the cycle? We got those too! How about a perfect day at the plate for an emerging prospect? Check! An exciting debut, a shutout, a walk-off, and a blowout so bad the first half champs had to pitch their catcher. Tuesday saw a little bit of everything on the way to a 6-1 night for the Brewers' system. Transactions: Nashville Sounds activated RHP Blake Holub from the 7-day injured list. C Andrick Nava assigned to Nashville Sounds from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Nashville Sounds transferred C Andrick Nava to the Development List. OF Alexander Frias assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. OF Gerlyn Payano assigned to ACL Brewers from DSL Brewers Blue. Also, it’s been reported, but not yet official, that Peter Strzelecki has signed a minor league contract with the Brewers and will return to Nashville. Game Action: Nashville pre-game media notes Nashville 12, Gwinnett (Braves) 5 Box Score Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to always review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Brock Wilken, Tyler Black Record First Multi-Slam Game in Sounds History - Luis Lara Sets Career-High with Five Hits Nashville flexed their muscle Tuesday night, routing the Gwinnett Stripers 12-5 thanks to explosive late-game heroics. Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Sounds' bats erupted to completely flip the script. Brock Wilken delivered the defining blow of the rally, launching a devastating grand slam to swing the momentum permanently in Nashville's favor. Check out Wilken’s slam courtesy of the Sounds’ X account: Not to be outdone, Tyler Black punctuated the offensive showcase with another grand slam in the eighth inning, putting the game completely out of reach: For two guys who have had their shares of ups and downs, it was really cool to see Wilken and Black share this rare feat together. But there’s more! Luis Lara’s bat finally reawakened. Entering play Tuesday, Lara was slashing just .174/.309/.174 in June. Lara made that look like a distant memory while going a flawless 5-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. You can check out all five hits in rapid succession here. Meanwhile, catcher Jeferson Quero delivered an electric performance of his own, falling just a double shy of the cycle. Quero went 4-for-5, launching a solo home run in the eighth: Quero’s triple, the fifth of his professional career, just missed going out to straight away center as well. While the monumental power display stole the show, the Sounds' bullpen did its job to quiet the Stripers and secure the victory. After Gwinnett put up four runs in the top of the fifth against starter Thomas Pannone, the bullpen took over and shut Gwinnett down. Gerson Garabito earned the win with two scoreless, one-hit innings of relief. Drew Rom and Easton McGee also chipped in combining to close out the final three frames with just an unearned run allowed. RHP Lyon Richardson (2-2, 4.54 ERA in AAA with Louisville and Nashville) is scheduled to make his first start for Nashville on Wednesday. Richardson, a former second round pick of the Reds, only joined the Brewers’ organization earlier in June. Biloxi pre-game media notes Biloxi 5, Montgomery (Rays) 1 Box Score As always, you are encouraged to read the official round-up from the team’s site: Gillis, Offense Lead Shuckers to Win in Second-Half Opener - Fischer hits 3rd home run in 5 Double-A games with sky-scraping shot Biloxi opened the second half of their Southern League season with an impressive and complete victory over Montgomery on Tuesday night. The new look Shuckers' offense was clicking on all cylinders with the team pounding out 13 hits, with everyone but Mark Coley II collecting at least one hit. Catcher Darrien Miller led the charge with a 3-for-4 night and an RBI. Josh Adamczewski had a two-hit day including this run scoring double, courtesy of the Biloxi X account: Adamczewski has hit safely in all five games since his promotion to AA. So has his teammate Andrew Fischer who launched his 3rd home run in five games at the level: Watching these two seamlessly fit into the Biloxi lineup to support has been really exciting so far. It no longer feels like Jesús Made or Blake Burke have to do the heavy lifting, and the Shuckers' lineup suddenly feels so much deeper. Other players in the Shuckers lineup are coming around too. Mike Boeve extended his hit streak to seven games with a two-hit night, and Jacob Hurtubise also had two hits and drove in a pair. On the mound, the Shuckers got a strong performance from starter Tanner Gillis who threw six scoreless innings. Gillis struck out four, allowing just two hits and two walks to improve to 3-3 on the season. Yorman Galindez (0-2, 10.13 ERA) will take the mound for Biloxi on Wednesday night. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Wisconsin 5, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 0 Box Score Rattlers Run Winning Streak to Three with 5-0 Shutout - Owens strikes out eight over five scoreless innings Wisconsin secured a dominant 5-0 shutout victory over Cedar Rapids on Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Strong pitching and a single, explosive inning on offense were the winning formula for the Rattlers, who improved their second half record to 3-0. The Timber Rattlers' pitching staff was completely in control, holding the Kernels' offense to just three hits and one walk while racking up 11 strikeouts. Starter Braylon Owens picked up the win with eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings. Owens’ lowered his ERA to 3.84 with his superb performance. Multi-inning scoreless appearances from Garrett Hodges and Peyton Niksch slammed the door on the thought of any sort of Cedar Rapids rally. The bats were quiet on both sides until the bottom of the fourth inning when Wisconsin broke the game wide open. The rally started innocently, with Eric Bitonti drawing a walk and Tayden Hall poking a single to center. After a balk advanced both runners, Daniel Guilarte broke the scoreless tie with a sharp RBI single to left field. Juan Baez followed with an RBI single of his own to make it 2-0. After a Blayberg Diaz single and a walk to Josiah Ragsdale loaded the bases, Marco Dinges delivered the knockout punch. Dinges grounded a single to center field to score two, with a throwing error from the centerfielder allowing Ragsdale to come home, capping off a five-run frame that put the game entirely out of reach. Check out all the highlights on the Rattlers’ YouTube page: RHP Josh Knoth (0-0, 2.70 ERA) toes the rubber for Wisconsin in game two on Wednesday. Wilson pre-game media notes Wilson 15, Fredericksburg (Nationals) 2 Box Score Wilson Blasts Fredericksburg in Series Opener Wilson put on an absolute offensive clinic Tuesday night, crushing the first half champions Fredericksburg 15-2. The Warbirds' lineup was relentless, racking up 12 hits and capitalizing on a dumbfounding 16 walks issued by Nationals pitching to hang some crooked numbers in the linescore through the first six innings. Ultimately things got so bad for Fredericksburg that only a position player on the mound could shut down the Warbirds’ offense late in the game. Shortstop Brady Ebel was the draw stirring the drink for the Warbirds' offense, finishing the game just a triple shy of the cycle. He put together a spectacular 4-for-5 performance at the plate, driving in four runs and scoring three times. His night was highlighted by a two-run blast which you can see courtesy of the Wilson X account: Alexander Frias made his Carolina League debut as the designated hitter and immediately made his presence felt. Frias went 1-for-5, recording his first hit, first run, and first RBI in Wilson. However, his biggest impact came on the basepaths, where he collected three stolen bases. Leftfielder Nick Monile recorded professional highs with three walks and four runs scored. Slugger Jose Anderson knocked in two runs with a double and a single. Anderson leads the Carolina league with 52 RBI on the season. Juan Ortuno knocked in a run and stole his 20th base. Leadoff man Handelfry Encarnacion was on base three times and also scored three runs. The hit parade was so long, and the highlights so numerous, I recommend you click through the video highlights here, rather than link each play individually. Not to be overshadowed by the offense, the Warbirds got two solid performances on the mound as well. Starter Jarrette Bonet had his best start since May 22, working five innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts. Hayden Robinson backed up Bonet with four scoreless innings to earn his professional save. It was the first appearance of the season for Robinson where he did not walk a batter or allow a run. Wilson moves to 38-32 on the season and 2-2 in the second half. RHP Miqueas Mercedes (1-1, 5.13 ERA) heads to the hill for Wilson on Wednesday. ACL Brewers 2, ACL Angels 1, seven innings as scheduled Box Score The ACL Brewers showcased exactly how to maximize limited offensive opportunities on Tuesday, scraping out a dramatic 2-1 walk-off victory over the ACL Angels despite mustering only two hits all evening. The foundation of the victory was built on a quality start on the mound. Joan Pena settled in beautifully after giving up a lone run in the first inning, grinding through six strong frames. He scattered just three hits and struck out four, successfully working around four walks to keep the Angels' lineup at bay and give his team a chance. Offensively, Milwaukee relied entirely on the long ball to manufacture their runs against the Angels’ pitching staff. After trailing for the first four innings, Brailyn Antunez hit a solo home run to tie the game in the bottom of the 4th. It was Antunez' 7th homer of the year, which is best on the team. The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the seventh, when Juan Martinez stepped up and delivered a clutch, walk-off solo home run to lead off the bottom of the 7th. The win gets the ACL Brewers back above .500 with a 20-19 record. Outfielder Gerlyn Payano made his stateside debut as the designated hitter, 0-for-2 with a walk. DSL Cleveland Goryl DSL 12, Brewers Blue 8 Box Score Despite a strong start and some early offensive fireworks, the DSL Brewers Blue couldn't hold off a relentless late-game surge from DSL Cleveland Goryl, falling 12-8 in a wild, high-scoring affair on Tuesday. The Brewers came out swinging, building a quick 4-0 lead by the end of the second inning. Third baseman Diego Frontado was the star for the Brewers, finishing the day 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a double that sparked a two-run first inning. The 17-year-old Venezuelan now sports a 1.064 OPS with the completion of Tuesday’s game. First baseman Eryks Rivero (2-for-3, RBI) and right fielder Angel Gonzalez (2-for-4, RBI) also put together multi-hit performances, each ripping a double of their own. Catcher Sebastian Franeites also chipped in two singles and an RBI on the day. Things began to unravel for the Brewers in the bottom of the 5th inning. After starter Luis Aguayo threw two clean innings to stake the Brewers to their early lead, the Brewers' bullpen simply couldn't find the strike zone. Wilmer Duarte (2.2 IP 4ER 6BB) and Jordy Brache (2.1 IP 8ER 5BB) took the brunt of the damage, surrendering all 12 runs and issuing 11 walks in their combined five innings. Cleveland battered the Brewers for multi-run rallies in each of their last four innings, flipping the score from a four-run Brewers' lead into a five-run deficit heading into the 9th inning. While the offense battled to the end with a pair of one-run rallies in the 8th and 9th innings, it was simply too deep of a hole for the Brewers to climb out of. The loss drops the Brewers Blue to 12-5 on the season. DSL Brewers Gold 3, DSL Pirates Gold 1 Box Score The DSL Brewers Gold took care of business on Tuesday morning, leaning on rock-solid pitching and just enough offense to secure a 3-1 victory over the DSL Pirates Gold. Paul Hoff was dialed in on the mound for the Brewers in his longest outing of the season. Hoff (5IP 2H 0R 1BB 5K) silenced the Pirates’ bats on his way to his first win of the season. The Brewers made the most of their five hits on the day and then benefitted from some poor Pirates’ defense. The scoring opened in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Romano Donato wreaked havoc on the basepaths. After reaching on a fielding error, Donato immediately stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the Pirates' catcher. Shortstop Ricki Moneys then stepped up and delivered a clutch RBI single to center, bringing Donato home and putting the Brewers up 1-0. Milwaukee found their insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th. Left fielder Angeni Fernandez ignited the rally by lacing a triple to lead off the frame. Following back-to-back walks to Moises Salazar and Carlos Done that loaded the bases, Jefer Lista put the ball in play and reached on a critical fielding error by the Pirates' third baseman. The miscue allowed both Fernandez and Salazar to score, extending the Brewers' lead to 3-0. The Brewers' early execution and ability to capitalize on Pittsburgh's sloppy defense proved to be the difference-maker. The Brewers, now 5-12 with the win, proved to be the true “gold” standard while the Pirates proved to be mere fools’ gold in defeat. What an epic night across the system! Wednesday will see just one rookie ball game in the morning in the DSL. Wisconsin has a day game at noon central. The rest of the full-season squads will get started in the evening, as per usual. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Grand Slams? Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers optioned LHP Drew Rom to Nashville Sounds. C Eric Martinez assigned to ACL Brewers from Nashville Sounds. Though not official yet, it appears Alexander Frias is heading to full-season ball in Wilson: Game Action: ACL Diamondbacks 16, ACL Brewers 5 Box Score It was a rough evening for the ACL Brewers on Monday, as walks and defensive miscues proved too much to overcome in a 16-5 loss. Things got away from the Brewers early in the contest. After Brailyn Antunez opened the scoring in the top of the first with a solo home run, the DBacks struck for five runs in the opening frame and never looked back. Last year's 20th-round pick Ma'Kale Holden started the game but didn't last long. Holden's line was pretty gruesome: 1.1 IP 4H 6R 4BB 3K. As a whole, the Brewers’ pitching staff allowed 10 hits and issued a whopping 13 walks. Defensive miscues didn't help the cause either, as the Brewers coupled a tough day on the mound with three costly errors in the field, leading to four unearned runs. The Diamondbacks scored in each of their first six innings. Only when reliver Roderick Flores came on with the bases loaded in the 6th inning, did the Brewers manage to stop the bleeding. Flores worked out of the bases loaded jam in the 6th allowing just a sac fly, then closed the game out with two more perfect innings. Antunez was the only Brewer to muster multiple hits, as he also closed the scoring with an RBI single in the 8th. Besides Antunez, the only other run scoring hit for the Brewers was a two-run double from Malachai Halterman. Jonathan Rangel and Yu-Lin Liao each drew three walks in defeat. The Brewers finished the day 2-for-12 with RISP and left 10 men on base. With the loss, the ACL Brewers drop to an even 19-19 record on the season DSL Brewers Blue 4, DSL Red Sox Red 3, F/7 (completion of June 12 game) Box Score We’ll keep this short and sweet as Jim already covered the first five innings of this game in his link report from June 12. Lukas Gonzalez came on for the Brewers after a scoreless bottom of the fifth inning once the game resumed. Gonzalez worked two perfect innings in relief with two strikeouts, keeping the game tied at three and giving the Brewers a shot at the victory. In the bottom of the 7th, Frandy Lafond led off the frame with a single. Lafond also had a steal after the game resumed in the 5th. The next two batters then walked to load the bases with one out. That’s when Yoneiker Lugo came up with a ground ball single to walk off the game and give the Brewers Blue a 4-3 victory. DSL Brewers Blue 6, DSL Red Sox Red 0, F/7 Box Score In the second game of this DSL “doubleheader,” Lafond picked up right where he left off with a three-run home run in the second inning to give the Brewers Blue all the offense they would need on the day. While the bats only tallied four hits, the Brewers displayed great plate discipline, drawing a staggering 11 walks to keep constant pressure on the Red Sox pitching staff. With so few hits, the rest of the Brewers’ run producing plays came on a ground out, walk, and fielder’s choice. Centerfielder Enrique Lovera was credited with two of those RBI. As a team, the Brewers went 4-for-6 in stolen bases on the day, with Angel Gonzalez stealing two bags and scoring three runs. On the mound, 18-year-old Carlos Galindo was terrific in earning his third win of the DSL season. Galindo went five innings, allowed five hits and struck out five. He did not walk or hit a batter after issuing 12 free passes in his first three appearances. Ruben Saldana, who is repeating the DSL for a third time, struck out three in two scoreless innings to close the game. At 12-4, the Brewers Blue have the fourth best winning percentage in the 50-team Dominican Summer League. DSL Reds 7, DSL Brewers Gold 6 Box Score The DSL Brewers Gold suffered a tough defeat on Monday dropping a 7-6 decision to the DSL Reds. Things started positively enough for the Brewers, who jumped out to an early 4-0 lead by the third inning. The offense found its groove early in the top of the second when Jefer Lista drew a bases-loaded walk to open the scoring, followed immediately by a clutch, two-run double from shortstop Ricki Moneys. Osiris Ramirez kept the momentum rolling in the third, pacing the offense with a 3-for-5 day and driving in another run to put the Brewers comfortably ahead. Moneys and Ramirez are first and second on the Gold squad with 14 and 13 RBI respectively. On the mound, starting pitcher Joan Gonzalez was magnificent, silencing the Reds' bats over four scoreless innings while racking up four strikeouts and allowing just two hits. Unfortunately, the Brewers’ bullpen couldn't hold the line once Gonzalez departed. The Reds broke through for four runs in the fifth inning to tie the game. Despite the Brewers briefly reclaiming a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh on another RBI single by Ramirez, a costly fielding error from pitcher Derlin Garcia (3IP 6H 7R 6ER 4BB 4K) opened the door for the decisive rally. The Reds capitalized on the error, a balk, and a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh, pushing three more runs across to take a permanent lead. The Brewers fought hard until the final out, clawing back within one run in the eighth after Matthew Moses drove in Josue Rodriguez on a force out. The Brewers managed to load the bases later that inning but ultimately left the sacks full as Ramirez popped out to short to end the threat. Lack of clutch hitting was a theme that plagued the team as the Brewers left 10 total runners on base while going 3-for-14 with RISP. On the opposite end of the spectrum from their Blue counterparts, the loss drops the Gold squad to 4-12 in DSL play, tied for the second worst record in the league. Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers sent RHP Brandon Woodruff on a rehab assignment to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. SS Eduardo Garcia assigned to Nashville Sounds from Biloxi Shuckers. RHP Ayendy Bravo assigned to ACL Brewers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Game Action: Memphis (Cardinals) 12, Nashville 5 Box Score Nashville Outslugged in Memphis - Sounds Drop Fourth Straight The Nashville Sounds’ pitching staff, which has been so good all season long, ran into a buzz saw in their series opening loss to first half champion Memphis. That buzz saw’s name was Joshua Baez. Baez homered four times off three different Sounds’ pitchers, and drove in seven runs, en route to a 12-5 thrashing that had the Sounds singing the blues in Memphis on Tuesday night. Not to be outdone, a couple Brewers’ top prospects also flashed some power. Jett Williams hit two solo home runs, one of which Spencer Michaelis captured on his X account: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== The rest of the offense was supplied by Jeferson Quero, who also homered, a two-run shot, and drove in three runs on the night. It looks like there were some video issues on the night, so enjoy this rendering of Queso’s homer from the Sounds’ X account: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Luis Lara went 0-for-5 on the night and his .322 average at the end of the night is his lowest mark since May 10. For the month of June, Lara is just 5-for-25 with his last extra-base hit coming on May 28. There were not many positives for the pitching staff, which you can see with all the crooked numbers in the box score. Jake Woodford pitched a clean inning. That’s it. Brett Wichrowski continued his brutal season. After allowing Baez’s first two home runs, Wichrowski has now allowed 16 long balls in 61.2 innings across AA/AAA this season. No official probables for the series without any pre-game media notes, but it should be Thomas Pannone in game two of the series on Wednesday. Biloxi pre-game media notes Bilioxi’s game – plus the debuts of Andrew Fischer and Josh Adamczewski at the level – was postponed on Tuesday due to rain. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve being told Santa’s sleigh was delayed. The forecast for the rest of the week doesn’t look any more promising. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Wisconsin 11, Quad Cities (Royals) 6 Box Score Wisconsin Wins with Contributions from Woodruff and Payne In Game One of the AFA (After Fischer and Adamczewski) Era, the Rattlers did not miss a beat, winning handily by the score of 11-6 at Quad Cities. Without the aid of their 20 homer slugger in Fischer, the whole lineup chipped in, as the team pounded out 10 hits and drew a flabbergasting 15 walks. Every Rattler in the lineup, save for designated hitter Tayden Hall, scored at least one run. Luiyin Alastre drove in a run with a single and was on base five times. Braylon Payne, featured in the third spot in the lineup in this new look Rattlers offense, provided the power, courtesy of the Wisconsin X account: Payne also had an RBI single. Not to bury the lead, but we got a rehab start from Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff looked good and more importantly, he pitched into the 6th inning, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk. You can check out his six strikeouts here: Braylon Owens picked up his second save of the season, working the last three innings and allowing just one run while striking out three. RHP Josh Knoth (0-0, 2.19) will take the mound for the Rattlers on Wednesday. Wilson pre-game media notes Charleston (Rays) 5, Wilson 4 Box Score Charleston Defeats Wilson; Clinches South Title Wilson suffered a narrow defeat on Tuesday night, falling 5-4 to Charleston at Wilson Ballpark. Wilson’s pitching staff got off to a stellar start as starting pitcher Joey Broughton tossed four scoreless innings, scattering just three hits and striking out four. It was Broughton’s second outing in full-season ball with Wilson. The Warbirds broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead, courtesy of an RBI single from Luis Lameda. However, the game completely unraveled in the top of the sixth. Enderson Mercado struggled mightily, surrendering five runs on five hits and three walks across just 1.2 innings. Despite the deflating sixth inning, the Warbirds refused to go quietly and mounted a late-game comeback. Wilson chipped away with a run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double from Kevin Garcia. Then trailing by three entering the final frame, the Warbirds put together an inspired ninth-inning rally. Down to their final strike, Brady Ebel delivered a clutch, two-out, two-RBI single to pull Wilson within a single run. Ultimately, the comeback fell just short, with two runners left stranded in the ninth leaving the Warbirds with a tough 5-4 loss. Joshua Quezada (3.1 IP 1H 0R 0BB 4K) was the unsung hero of the game for the Warbirds, putting together a lights-out performance out of the bullpen to give his team a fighting chance. RHP Hayden Robinson (1-1, 9.39) will take the mound for Wilson on Wednesday. ACL Brewers 8, ACL White Sox 0, seven innings as scheduled Box Score The ACL Brewers (17-17) put together a complete performance at the American Family Fields of Phoenix, shutting out the ACL White Sox. Facing blistering 107-degree weather, the Brewers’ bats heated up early, while the pitching staff kept the White Sox wandering the desert in search of offense. The Brewers didn't waste any time getting on the board, striking for two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning thanks to a two-out, two-run blast by shortstop Juan Martinez, his 4th HR of the year. The Brewers played aggressive, small-ball baseball to manufacture runs in the middle innings. Kenny Fenelon swiped two bags (bringing his total to 18 on the season) and scored twice. Alexander Frias stayed scorching hot, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base, raising his average to an absurd .404. One has to wonder how long before we see Frias in Carolina. Left fielder Engel Paulino provided the late-game insurance, launching a solo shot in the bottom of the 6th inning (his 5th HR of the year) to cap off the 8-run night. Paulino also added a stolen base. On the mound, Joan Pena set the tone with a brilliant start, earning his second win of the season. Pena baffled White Sox hitters over five innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out six. It was Pena’s best and by far longest outing of the season. The rehabbing Michael Fowler closed the game out with two scoreless innings in relief. DSL Brewers Blue 12, DSL Orioles Black 3 Box Score The DSL Brewers Blue put on an offensive clinic, routing the DSL Orioles Black 12-3 on Tuesday. The Brewers’ bats were locked in from the opening frame, launching a relentless 11-hit attack that included five home runs. The power surge was led by third baseman Leanders Matos and center fielder Gerlyn Payano, who both had big days at the plate. The 16 year-old Matos turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including a solo shot in the third inning. Matos now sports a 1.328 at the conclusion of play Tuesday. Payano provided the definitive fireworks by blasting two separate solo home runs—one in the sixth and another in the seventh. Shortstop Jose Rodriguez also hit a solo homer of his own in the third and later added a triple, while catcher Sebastian Franeites cracked a two-run homer during a decisive four-run sixth inning. Starting pitcher Carlos Galindo earned the win after a solid five inning performance, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out four. Galindo also issued four free passes (three walks and one HBP). Lukas Gonzalez stepped in to lock down a four-inning save, keeping the Orioles at bay to close out a dominant team victory. While the Brewers' lineup was explosive, they were also heavily aided by an incredibly sloppy defensive showing from the Orioles, who committed a dumbfounding six errors over the course of the game. The Brewers left 11 runners on base and technically went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position, but their extra-base power the line kept moving. With the victory, DSL Brewers Blue improve their early-season record to 8-2. DSL Orioles Orange 5, DSL Brewers Blue 2 Box Score In the other half of their showdown with the Orioles, the Brewers Blue was not as successful as their Gold counterparts. The Brewers' pitching staff struggled mightily with command all morning, combining to issue 10 walks over eight innings. German-born starting pitcher Paul Hoff kept things competitive through 4.1 innings, allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out four, but his performance was marred by four walks and three wild pitches. Offensively, the Brewers actually out-hit the Orioles six to four, while jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, but struggled to cash in when it mattered most, finishing 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position and leaving 11 men stranded on base. Left fielder Angeni Fernandez was a bright spot at the top of the lineup, turning in a 2-for-4 performance and causing havoc on the basepaths with two stolen bases. Center fielder Manny De Los Santos also flexed his speed, drawing two walks and swiping three bags on the day. The Brewers’ only runs came courtesy of an RBI single by catcher Francisco De Marchena in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly from Jefer Lista in the fifth. With the loss, the Brewers Gold slide further down the DSL Central standings, dropping their record to 3-9 on the early season. On Wednesday, Nashville's game at noon Central is MiLB's free game of the day. The other full-season affiliates have traditional early-evening starts, though be safe, Biloxi, things look ominous. Transactions: Word got out on these moves yesterday, but in case you missed it, the team made them official on Monday: Game Action: ACL Rockies 9, ACL Brewers 5 Box Score The ACL Brewers showed plenty of fight in the late frames on Monday night, but a brutal opening act proved too much to overcome in a 9-5 loss to the ACL Rockies. Milwaukee’s rookie squad found themselves in an immediate 4-0 hole after a rocky first inning from starter Dariel Jaquez. Jaquez had as many walks and runs allowed (four) as he had batters retired on the night. The Brewers' bullpen did excellent work in the middle innings to keep the game within reach after Jaquez exited. Ma’Kale Holden had his longest outing of June, working 3.1 hitless innings with four strikeouts. Holden did issue four free passes, part of 11 total walks issued by the Brewers’ staff on the night. Josue Toledo also chipped in two hitless innings, with a walk and two strikeouts. Despite the early deficit, the Brewers’ bats finally woke up in the 7th inning to make a game of it. Roderick Flores ignited the offense with a pair of doubles on the night and also scored twice. Center fielder Brailyn Antunez led the line with a solid three-hit performance, and also drove in two runs. Milwaukee chipped away to bring the score to 4-3 in the 8th inning. Unfortunately, the momentum evaporated quickly in the bottom of the frame when reliever Jhosep Ospino ran into trouble, culminating in a crushing, two-out grand slam that put the game completely out of reach. Even with a two-run rally in the top of the 9th, the Brewers simply ran out of runway. It was a frustrating night of "what-ifs," especially considering Milwaukee actually out-hit the league-best Rockies eight to five. DSL Cubs Blue 5, DSL Brewers Gold 3 Box Score The DSL Brewers Gold squad fell 5-3 to DSL Cubs Blue on Monday. The offense got rolling early in the top of the first inning when Osiris Ramirez drove in Ricki Moneys on a fielder's choice to strike first. Ramirez, along with Moneys and Matthew Moses, was one of three Brewers players with two-hit games. Another silver lining for the offense was the continued brilliance of first baseman Jefer Lista, who lined an RBI double in the second inning to briefly tie the game. Lista now has a 1.426 OPS with 10 RBI in seven games this season. The Brewers threatened late in the seventh when Moses laced an RBI single to cut the deficit to two, but a costly double play at the plate put out the fire. Moses now leads the team with 11 runs driven in on the young season. On the mound, starter Derlin Garcia took the loss, tagged for five runs (three earned) over 3.2 innings while serving up two home runs. However, the bullpen provided a massive bright spot to close out the game. Right-hander Joan Gonzalez was absolutely stellar in relief, shutting down the Cubs over four scoreless innings, surrendering just a single hit while striking out six batters to keep the Brewers within striking distance until the final out. I'll be back with you Tuesday night as we recap the debuts of Fischer and Adamczewski in Biloxi. We'll see if the pair of prized prospects can help get the Shuckers over the line to a first half title this week. Of course, Nashville is still in contention for a first half title as well and we'll have a full seven game slate of play on Tuesday. Ope thanks for the catch! Was moving too fast and in a baseball brain fog last night. Saw in the game feed he made the tag and associated him with catcher. I think I am getting my wires crossed with him and late 90s catcher Bobby Hughes because I have wanted to make that mistake in previous weeks too and caught myself ! Lol I am getting old

Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers sent RHP Brandon Woodruff on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Biloxi Shuckers placed LHP Sam Garcia on the 7-day injured list retroactive to June 7, 2026. RHP Travis Smith assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. RHP Jack Seppings assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. RHP Peyton Niksch assigned to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from Wilson Warbirds. RHP Jayden Dubanewicz assigned to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from Wilson Warbirds. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers placed LHP Bjorn Johnson on the 7-day injured list retroactive to June 8, 2026. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers activated SS Daniel Guilarte from the 7-day injured list. RHP Bryce Schaum assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. LHP Joey Broughton assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. Of course the big transaction news of the day was Luis Lara signing a long-term deal with the Brewers, which you can see here, courtesy of the Nashville X account: Game Action: Nashville 8, Durham (Rays) 2 Box Score As always, you are encouraged to read the official round-up from the team’s site: Tyson Hardin Sets Career High in Strikeouts For a Nashville pitching staff has dominated International League all season, Tyson Hardin might have turned in their best performance yet on Tuesday night. Hardin struck out a career-high 11 in six innings of one-run ball to lead the Nashville staff that struck out 16 on the night. The only blemish of the night for Hardin was a solo blast in his final inning of work, but Hardin then rallied for two more strikeouts to complete his masterful outing. Since being promoted to Nashville, Hardin has a 1.59 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 28.1IP. Spencer Michaelis captured all 11 strikeouts for your viewing pleasure here: The Sounds’ offense staked Hardin to an early lead, with a two-run home run from Akil Baddoo, courtesy of the Nashville X account: Baddoo walked twice and drove in three on the night. Cooper Pratt hit his first home run since May 20: Pratt was on base three times, adding a single and walk as well. In his last 20 games, Pratt has a .943 OPS. Eddys Leonard chipped in an RBI triple. Leonard is second among Nashville regulars with a .896 OPS. With all the talk of promotions for Pratt, Luis Lara and Jett Williams to the big-league club, Leonard has quietly waited his turn and been rock solid all season. Nashville and Durham will play game two on Wednesday. With no probable starting pitcher announced, we could see Johnny Wholestaff deployed for the Sounds. Biloxi pre-game media notes Biloxi 9, Birmingham (White Sox) 7 Box Score Team Effort Leads Shuckers to Series-Opening Win over Barons Biloxi rode a massive sixth-inning offensive explosion to outlast Birmingham in a thrilling 9-7 victory on Tuesday night at Regions Field. Biloxi set the tone early with an RBI single by Eduardo Garcia. Birmingham immediately responded in their half of the first inning to tie the game off starter Manuel Rodriguez (6IP 5H 4R 4ER 0BB 8K). You can see his last strikeout here, courtesy of the Shuckers X account: Biloxi found themselves trailing 4-2 heading into the game's middle frames. That’s when the Shuckers offense flipped the script entirely in the top of the sixth, stringing together a rally that ultimately plated five runs to recapture a lead they would not relinquish. First, Darrien Miller smacked a two-run double. Next, Mike Boeve plated a run on a fielder’s choice. Finally, the centerpiece of the game-defining frame belonged to outfielder Mark Coley II, who blasted a clutch, two-out, three-run home run to break the inning wide open: It was a total team effort for the Shuckers’ offense. Jesus Made scored three times and stole his 20th base of the season. Blake Burke score twice and also stole a base, his 14th of the year. Garcia had three hits, while Boeve had two hits and two RBI. Flame-throwing closer Cameron Wagoner dominated the ninth, striking out two of the three batters he faced to secure his third save of the year and lock down a hard-fought victory for the Shuckers. Biloxi and Birmingham will play two on Wednesday, with RHP Tanner Gillis (1-2, 3.86) taking the mound in game one. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Wisconsin 10, Great Lakes (Dodgers) 9, F/11 Box Score Rattlers Best Loons in Wild Marathon Talk about a rollercoaster of an evening at the ballpark! In a game that saw a combined 19 runs, 23 hits, 22 walks, and a rare triple play, Wisconsin showed incredible resilience, fighting back multiple times to secure a thrilling 10-9 walk-off victory over Great Lakes in 11 innings. You can check out all the highlights from the 4+ hour epic here, courtesy of the Rattlers' YouTube page: The Loons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning courtesy of a two-run homer off starter Braylon Owens. Those would be the only two earned runs of the night against Owens (5.1IP 5H 5R 2ER 3BB 5K), who was also victimized by some shaky defense. Josh Adamczewski got the Rattlers on the board with an RBI double in the second, the first of three hits and two RBI for the hot-hitting leftfielder. After Wisconsin fell in a 5-1 hole, Adamczewski again knocked in a run on a single to make 5-2. The deficit would remain three runs at 6-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th, when Wisconsin’s patience at the plate paid off. The Rattlers took advantage of a shaky Great Lakes bullpen, drawing three walks in the frame and eventually tying the game on a Blayberg Diaz single. After Great Lakes reclaimed the lead in the top of the 9th, the Rattlers answered right back. Once again, it was Adamczewski who delivered with the clutch hit after walks to Andrew Fischer and Marco Dinges. The drama only intensified in extras. Great Lakes put up two runs in the top of the 10th, but Wisconsin refused to blink. Another clutch RBI single from Diaz brought in the Manfred Man from second base. Then Braylon Payne smashed a ball off the wall, just missing a walk-off home run. Payne was staring the ball down and had to motor into second. After a fielder’s choice and another walk to Fischer, Juan Baez tied the game with a deep sac fly. After a scoreless top of the 11th from reliever Chandler Welch—who earned the win with yeoman’s work in his four innings of relief—the stage was set for heroics. With two outs in the bottom of the 11th, the Loons’ pitcher fired a wild pitch high over the catcher to the backstop. Eric Bitonti trotted home as Payne flung his bat into the air and the home crowd went wild. It was not all good news for Wisconsin. Luis Pena pulled up lame after running out a strikeout in the 6th inning. It was a tough night for Pena, who also grounded into a triple play and was thrown out at home trying to advance on a ball in the dirt. Fischer also had his 10-game hit streak snapped, as Great Lakes worked around the slugger much of the night. Fischer went 0 for 2 with four walks. Wisconsin is also set to play a twin bill on Wednesday with Josh Knoth (0-0, 3.12) slated for game one. We will see if either team has anything left in the tank after their epic battle Tuesday night. Wilson pre-game media notes Hill City (Guardians) 12, Wilson 6 Box Score Warbirds Doubled Up in Series Opening Loss Wilson was thoroughly beaten from the get-go on Tuesday night in their loss to Hill City. Starter Enderson Mercardo ate most of the damage, allowing nine runs on nine hits in 2.2 innings of work. After Mercado exited, tacked on three more runs versus bulk reliver Andrew Healy (4IP 5H 3R 3ER 2BB 3K) in the 4th inning to make it 12-0 before the game was half over. The Warbirds showed some perseverance by chipping away for rallies in the next three innings but never made it a game. Slugger Jose Anderson provided the highlight of the night for the Wilson offense with this blast into the night over the leftfield wall. Anderson has homered in four consecutive games and now leads the Carolina league with 14 home runs on the season. As a team, Wilson had six hits and drew nine walks. Filippo di Turri got the Warbirds on the board with an RBI double, the only extra base hit for Wilson besides Anderson’s bomb. Brady Ebel and Juan Ortuno were each on base twice with a walk and a single. Ebel’s single was a chopper that bounced off the pitcher to plate two. Frederi Montero walked three times and scored two runs. Healy was listed as Wednesday’s starter in the game notes, so we will see who Wilson turns to in game two of the series. ACL Guardians 4, ACL Brewers 2 Box Score Brandon Woodruff made his return to the mound on Tuesday night in Complex League play. In the first inning, Woodruff allowed a leadoff walk, double, and single to fall behind 2-0. Catcher CJ Hughes picked up his battery mate with a caught stealing to end the inning. In the second inning, Woodruff struck out the first two, before a walk, single and ground rule double plated another run to make it 3-0. Overall. Woodruff tossed 47 of 68 pitches for strikes, with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. We’ll have to wait on word of what the velocity looked like, but it’s good news to see Woodruff back on the mound, even if the results weren’t there. Joan Pena (3.1IP 1H 1R 0ER 3BB 6K) relieved Woodruff and kept the game in check. However, the Brewers’ offense didn’t muster much support for their pitching staff. Juan Martinez hit his second home run of the season and now sports a .957 OPS. Malachai Halterman had a single and a walk. Yu-Lin Liao added a double, the only other extra base hit besides Martinez’s home run. DSL Cubs Blue 12, DSL Brewers Gold 6 Box Score It was a rough outing for the DSL Brewers Gold Tuesday morning as they fell 12-6 to the DSL Cubs Blue. The pitching staff struggled to contain the Cubs' bats from the start, digging an early hole that proved too deep to climb out of. Starter Marcos Veras took the loss after a difficult outing, surrendering five earned runs over three innings, and set a tough tone for the day. Offensively, the Brewers Gold managed 10 hits on the day, but just one for extras bases, a triple from Carlos Done. Done also walked twice and scored two runs. 16-year-old catcher Francisco De Marchena led the offense with three hits and three runs driven in. Angeni Fernandez collected two more singles and now has a .986 OPS. Moises Salazar also had two singles and a walk for the Brewers. Reliever Paul Hoff provided a solid bridge with four innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts, but the bullpen combined for a rough afternoon, notably plagued by four wild pitches from closer Christopher Peralta in a three-run 9th inning that sealed the Brewers' fate. Ultimately, defensive miscues and missed opportunities with runners in scoring position halted any chance of a late-game comeback. The Brewers committed two errors on the day and left 12 runners stranded on base, going just 3-for-14 with RISP. DSL Brewers Blue 10, DSL Rays 7 Box Score The DSL Brewers Blue squad rode an explosive first inning and some late-game insurance to lock down a back-and-forth 10-7 victory over the DSL Rays on Tuesday. The offense didn’t waste any time making a statement. In the top of the first inning, Sebastian Franeites delivered the definitive blow of the afternoon, a three-run blast to cap the five-run frame. That was the only extra base hit for the Brewers, who had eight hits and drew eight walks as well. In the middle frames, the Brewers and Rays swapped rallies in five consecutive half innings, with the Rays closing the lead down to 8-5 after five innings. The Rays managed to pull within one with a two-run rally in the 8th, but the Brewers rallied for two insurance runs in the top of the 9th to put the game away. Second baseman Leonard Rijo kept his blistering season going, turning in a two-hit performance with two RBI to push his OPS to a stellar 1.227. Jose Rodríguez also chipped in a multi-hit game, driving in two runs and scoring twice. While the bats did their job, the Brewers’ pitching staff had to navigate through a self-inflicted tightrope. Brewers’ pitchers struggled with their command all afternoon, combining for a staggering 11 walks and four wild pitches. Wilmer Duarte got the start, striking out four, but battled through five walks across three innings. Justin Lugo earned the win out of the bullpen, steadying the ship by racking up 5 strikeouts over 2.2 innings despite giving up two late runs. Jean Rodriguez shut the door in the 9th striking out the side in order to secure his first save of the season. Tue. 6/9: Sounds and Rattlers Begin Homestands
Ben Lepak replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
tough night for Luis Pena, who once again has to exit the game. Came up limping after legging out a strike out on a wild pitch -
Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers sent RHP Quinn Priester on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Nashville Sounds activated SS Eddys Leonard from the temporarily inactive list. Nashville Sounds transferred C Eric Martinez to the Development List. Nashville Sounds transferred LF Jacob Hurtubise to the Development List. Nashville Sounds activated 3B Luke Adams from the 7-day injured list. Wilson Warbirds placed RHP Jacob Morrison on the 7-day injured list. RHP Ismael Yanez assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. LHP Noel Cepeda assigned to DSL Brewers Gold (a late May signing first mentioned here) Game Action: Nashville pre-game media notes Jacksonville (Marlins) 6, Nashville 2 Box Score As always, you are encouraged to read the official round-up from the team’s site: Serna Haunts Sounds in Opener with 3-RBI Night It was a quiet night for the Sounds in Jacksonville as Nashville managed just three singles in their defeat. Cooper Pratt opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single just two batters into the game. Pratt has now reached base in 22 consecutive games. The other run-producing play for the Sounds came on a bases loaded walk to Tyler Black. On the mound, the Nashville pitchers, who lead the International League in team ERA, did not have their best night. The trio of Easton McGee, Kaleb Bowman, and Brian Fitzpatrick all allowed two runs apiece in two innings or less of work. Those three combined to dole out seven walks in five innings. Reiss Knehr and Will Childers finished out the final three innings scoreless, which allowed for Nashville to have one last rally in the 9th inning. After a 12-pitch battle with Pratt ended with a walk to load the bases, Luis Lara came to the plate as the tying run with Nashville down to their final out. However, there would be no heroics on this night, as Lara tapped a dribbler back to the pitcher to end the game. The Sounds did not have a hit after the fourth inning of the game. One other silver lining was the return of Luke Adams to the Nashville lineup. Adams drew a walk in the 9th and of course was also HBP in the game as well. Nashville will look to get back on track Wednesday. The suddenly ascending Tyson Hardin (1-0, 0.96 ERA in 18.2 IP at AAA) was scheduled to take the mound, but the Sounds are now listed as TBD and speculation is Hardin may very well be getting his big-league call-up. Biloxi pre-game media notes Biloxi was once again rained out, the 9th postponement since the beginning of May. The game will be replayed on Thursday as part of a double header. Manuel Rodriguez was scheduled to start on Tuesday, so we will likely see him on Wednesday. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Wisconsin 14, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 11 Box Score Wisconsin Wins a Wild One in Cedar Rapids Wisconsin won a wild marathon clash with Cedar Rapids on Tuesday night, but the result was overshadowed by the loss of Luis Pena once again. In the second inning, with Wisconsin in the field, play was temporarily halted as Pena battled illness at shortstop. Pena was able to walk off the field under his own power and seemed to be speaking with the trainer. As they reached the dugout Pena was dry heaving and did not look well. We will hope it was something minor, but it is concerning because Pena had only returned to Wisconsin on May 27 after a month off after a fainting spell due to “dehydration” on April 22. (MLB.com report via Adam McCalvy with video within) To make matters worse, starting pitcher JD Thompson, a 2nd round pick last year, also left the game in the second inning. Andrick Nava had spotted something after a 3-2 pitch and called time. Thompson appeared to be slapping his leg on the mound and then exited mid at-bat. It was a long second inning, as Thompson hit the 40-pitch mark for the inning, so hopefully it was just some minor cramping. On to the positive game action… Andrew Fischer launched his 16th home run, courtesy of the Wisconsin X account: Eric Bitonti added his 7th home run: Luis Castillo, who had a .281/.387/.484 slash line in May, smashed his 6th home run of the year: Josiah Ragsdale was on base five times with three hits and two walks. Ragsdale also stole his 18th base of the season. It’s a pretty loaded box score as Wisconsin pounded out 14 hits and drew nine walks in a game that took over 3.5 hours to play. To add to the fireworks, Josh Adamczewski and manager Nick Stanley were ejected late in the game for arguing a check swing appeal on strike three. On the mound, Yerlin Rodriguez earned the win with two scoreless innings. Ayendy Bravo earned his first save at the level with two shutdown innings to finish the game. RHP Braylon Owens (1-0, 4.24) will take to the mound on Wednesday for Wisconsin. Wilson pre-game media notes Wilson 14, Salem (Red Sox) 7 Box Score Warbirds Complete Comeback, Double Up Salem Wilson won a messy affair in the opener of their series with Salem on Tuesday night. As a team, the Warbirds drew 13 walks while striking out 13 times en route to scoring 14 runs on just eight hits. The Warbirds broke the game open with an 11-run rally in the 7th inning to take an insurmountable lead. In the rally, the first eight runs came on just three hits – all singles – with Handelfry Encarnacion producing two runs on this ground ball single. Then Kevin Garcia came through with the big blast of the night, a three-run home run to right to cap the scoring for Wilson. Garcia had three runs scored on the night for Wilson. Frederi Montero was the only Warbird with a multi-hit game, and he also drew two walks. Jadyn Fielder had the other XBH for Wilson with this RBI double, courtesy of the Wilson X account: Fielder scored twice and drove in two runs on the night. On the mound, Jayden Dubanewicz continued his stellar work, this time in a relief appearance. Dubanewicz (4.1 IP 4H 2R 2ER 1BB 4K) was cruising through his first four innings of work, before he allowed back-to-back homers in the 8th and then exited the game. Joshua Quezada took over from there and worked 1.2 IP clean to close the game. Starter Enniel Cortez was victimized by two errors in the third, which led to four unearned runs in and made his line (3 IP 3H 5R 1ER 1BB 3K) look worse than he deserved. ACL Dodgers 3, ACL Brewers 2 Box Score Quinn Priester had his most encouraging start of the season in ACL play Tuesday night. Priester worked into the fourth for the first time all season and walked just two while allowing one run. Hopefully this is the first step back to being the pitcher we saw in 2025. The rehabbing Griffin Tobias chipped in two scoreless innings in relief for the Brewers. Offensively, the Brewers managed just five hits, and three of them belonged to Juan Martinez, who hit his first homer in ACL play. Alexander Frias was on base three times with a single and two walks. (DSL write-ups today via Jim Goulart) Final, DSL Padres Gold 11, DSL Brewers Blue 7, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Of the 13 half-innings in this contest, only four were scoreless. There was no score heading to the bottom of the 2nd in this road game, and then the offenses kicked in, taking advantage of all the usual culprits in a complex league game. Those culprits being bases on balls (seven by each team), HBP's (two by each staff), wild pitches (three, all by Blue arms), and fielding misplays (six combined, two by Team Blue). All the errors led to just one run charged to the Blue pitchers as unearned, two for the Padres kids. So perhaps you look at this as a 10-5 loss instead. I think we can agree that three hours, 25 minutes to play six-and-a-half-innings reflects those totals. Three Blue pitchers made their professional debuts, all right-handers. By the way, between the two Brewer teams, only three of the 36 pitchers are left-handed, so we'll be able to save keystrokes by not typing "RHP" over and over for these games. Southpaws - Blue: 6'5" Alexander Mercedes (yet to debut) Gold: 6'0" Daniel Garcia (currently on the 7-day IL) and 5'11" Santiago Martinez, each in their 2nd year. The debuts here ranged from short and tidy (one scoreless inning for 18-year-old Mexico native Luis Aguayo), to not particularly pretty twice over: 1.2 IP, 6 ER charged to 6'4" 16-year-old Jordy Brache, a Dominican native 2.2 IP, 4 ER, 4 BB for 18-year-old Wilmer Duarte, also of the D.R. Every new season I wonder how many family members of the Dominican players are in attendance for these games. As you box score review, the top six in the order were all holdovers from Opening Day. The bottom three all made seasonal, but not professional debuts. CF Enrique Lovera has already walked five times in his first two pro games, and when he's not walking, he's striking out (four times), yet to put the ball in play. 2B Leonard Rijo had the lone Blue XBH, a triple. 17-year-old newbie C Sebastian Franeites, DH'ing here, is off to a nice two-game start, 4-for-7, 1 HBP, with the three outs being strikeouts. As always, have to love the DSL box score intricacies. You are invited to pull up the game log, select "All", and then watch these games in your mind, always an adventure. Final, DSL Tampa Bay 9, DSL Brewers Gold 8 Box Score and Game Log In the bottom of the 9th, the Team Gold scored one run to cut the gap to one run and had a runner on 3rd base with just one out. A key strikeout was next. After a HBP and stolen base moved the go-ahead run into scoring position, another strikeout ended the game. 2nd year corner infielder Matthew Moses hit a three-run HR in the 2nd for an early 3-1 lead. It was Moses' 5th pro tater. Of course, Moses' MiLB page lists him as a shortstop despite never having played the middle infield last season. Because as we all know, all international position player signings are shortstops, unless they throw with their left arm, and we wouldn't put it past teams to list those youngsters as shortstops as well :). Corner OF Carlos Done had the other XBH, a double. Done was the game-ending strikeout victim. The bottom of the 3rd inning is an odd time to be lifted for a pinch-hitter, especially in a pro debut, but just-turned 17-year-old second baseman Santiago Garcia was removed at that interval. Nothing in the game log provides a hint from earlier in the game, and it's unclear if we'll ever see "injury delay" in the DSL logs like we do at the higher levels. 17-year-old Ruben Revost's pro debut was unique, pinch-runner, successful steal. Another 17-year-old, starter Marcos Veras, was the lone debut among the four arms. Three runs in three innings is no shame, but it's a 9.00 ERA no matter how you shake the small sample. Boo to the small sample. 6'5" Paul Hoff out of Germany, began his second season on the island. What a life adventure for that young man. There was very little "cheap" in the Tampa six-run 4th. When you conduct your game log read, you'll see just that. The three complex teams enjoy Wednesday off. The Timber Rattlers play a noon matinee in Cedar Rapids, while the Sounds, Shuckers and Warbirds have evening affairs on tap. Luis Pena once again removed from the game and not looking well. He was able to walk off under his own power but was really sweaty and sick looking. Hope they can figure out what is ailing him -

what a great thing to see... all the scores in one place! :D -

Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers recalled RHP Coleman Crow from Nashville Sounds. Nashville Sounds sent 3B Luke Adams on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Nashville Sounds released CF Jordyn Adams. RHP Yorman Galindez assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. RHP Tanner Perry assigned to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from Wilson Warbirds. Wilson Warbirds placed LHP Anfernny Reyes on the 7-day injured list. RHP Hayden Robinson assigned to Wilson Warbirds from ACL Brewers. Game Action: Nashville pre-game media notes Nashville 5, Gwinnett (Braves) 4 Box Score As always, you are encouraged to read the official round-up from the team’s site: Sounds Shut Down Late-Inning Threat from Gwinnett The Sounds jumped out to an early lead in their 5-4 victory on Tuesday and then held on thanks in large part to their relief corps. Luis Matos extended his hitting streak to eight games with a two-run single to open the scoring in the first, which you can find here courtesy of Nashville’s X account: Jeferson Quero later added a sac fly to make it 3-0 before Gwinnett rallied to tie it at three in the fourth. Cooper Pratt immediately responded for Nashville with an RBI single in the bottom half of the fourth, before Brock Wilken gave the Sounds insurance with an RBI ground out in the following inning. Wilken, who was dropped to the eighth spot in the lineup on Tuesday, could be fighting for playing time when Luke Adams returns from rehab. Luis Lara added another three hits, and this catch on defense: Lara is now second in the league in hits and has been the model of consistency all season long. Since March 31, Lara has carried a batting average above .324 for all but four days of the season. The Nashville rotation is suddenly looking a bit thin with recent call-ups of Robert Gasser and Coleman Crow. It was a team effort out of the pen with Brian Fitzpatrick earning the win in relief. The rehabbing Rob Zastryzny now has 5.1 IP clean at Nashville this month, with six strikeouts, one hit, and one walk allowed. Craig Yoho earned the save, and has not allowed an earned run since April 25, a string of 11.2IP. In that stretch, Yoho has a 13:4 K:BB ratio with only five hits allowed. Nashville, now 31-21 on the season and half a game out of first in the International League, has yet to name a starter for Wednesday’s game. Biloxi pre-game media notes The Shuckers were rained out on Tuesday and will make the game up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Tanner Gillis (0-1, 3.95 ERA) was slated to start Tuesday’s game while Bishop Letson (0-3, 6.66 ERA) was originally scheduled for Wednesday’s game. Wisconsin pre-game media notes Peoria (Cardinals) 5, Wisconsin 2, F/7 Box Score Peoria Beats Rattlers to Open Series Wisconsin lost their series opener to Peoria in a soggy, rain-shortened affair on Tuesday night. Despite the wind and the rain, Andrew Fischer shot a lightning bolt through the air with his league-leading 14th home run of the season, courtesy of the Wisconsin X account: Not much left to say about Fischer at this point. The power is incredible, but the whiffs and strikeouts are still a bit problematic. Will we see Fischer in Biloxi soon, or does the organization want to see him improve more on his swing and miss before awarding a promotion? Marco Dinges accounted for the other run with a moon shot of his own: Not many other superlatives for Wisconsin on this night, but you can find the rest of the “highlights” below. The well-travelled Andrick Nava had two hits. Josiah Ragsdale had a double. Starter Wande Torres (5IP 8H 4R 4ER 2B 6K) labored through another tough outing and took the loss. If you're looking for a silver lining on this cloudy night, it sounds like Luis Pena's rehab assignment is complete and we will see him back in Appleton this week. 2025 59th overall pick J.D. Thompson (0-0, 5.68 ERA) will take the mound in game two on Wednesday. Wilson pre-game media notes Wilson 4, Myrtle Beach (Cubs) 1 Box Score Renz Mows Down Myrtle Beach in Series Opener The Wilson Warbirds pulled out a 4-1 victory over Myrtle Beach on Tuesday night despite striking out a whopping 16 times as a team and being outhit 9-6. Brady Ebel was once again the sparkplug of the Wilson offense as he had two doubles and drove in two runs. The 18 year-old Ebel earned Player of the Week honors for his stellar performance last week and now a .993 OPS with 16 runs, 16 RBI and a perfect 13/13 on steals in the month of May. Find the videos of the double here and here. Leadoff man Juan Ortuno was the only Warbird who didn’t strike out in the game. Ortuno was on base four times with a pair of walks and a pair of singles. Ortuno also scored twice and swiped his 15th bag of the season. Pedro Ibarguen provided the big blast of the day with his third homer of the year which you can see here, via the Wilson X account: Ibarguen will carry an eight-game hit streak into Wednesday’s game and for the month of May, the soon-to-be 20-year-old sports a 1.078 OPS. Rylan Mills also had an RBI double and now has six RBI in just four games in the Carolina League: On the mound for Wilson, Tyler Renz had his best outing of the season. In his first scoreless outing since April 14, Renz matched a season-high in innings (five) and strikeouts (six). After 11 walks in his last 12 innings, Renz only walked two on the night, throwing 52 of 73 pitches for strikes. @Spencer Michaelis captured some of Renz’s stuff here: Enniel Cortez (3IP 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K) picked up where Renz left off in one of his better showings on the season. Peyton Niksch picked up his second save of the season with a scoreless final frame. Jayden Dubanewicz (0-0, 2.53 ERA) will look to keep things rolling for Wilson (22-20) when he takes the mound on Wednesday. After a rough start to their inaugural season, Wilson suddenly feels like they're rounding into form, as the Warbirds have won 9 of their last 11 games. ACL Brewers 10, ACL Cubs 6 Box Score It is beginning to feel like the next wave of Brewers hitting prospects is breaking out in the Arizona Complex League. That was on full display in Tuesday’s drubbing 10-6 of the Cubs. Kenny Fenelon, the highest paid signing at $1.3M in the 2025 international class, had a inside-the-park home run, a double and steal. Brailyn Antunez had a 109.6 MPH exit velocity home run. Alexander Frias had two more hits and now leads the team with a 1.126 OPS. Luke Adams made his first appearance since early April and hit a home run and a double. Juan Martinez replaced Adams and stole two bases and is now 10/10 on the season in steals. The Brewers as a team went 8/8 on steals in the game. Cristopher Acosta, another million dollar bonus baby from the 2025 class, knocked in two runs on the night, which doubled his RBI total for the season. On the mound, starter Joey Broughton had his best professional outing. Broughton struck out six in four innings of one-run ball. The innings and strikeouts totals were personal bests for Broughton, who now has a 1.69 ERA in 10.2 IP in ACL play.
