  1. We get Miller without having to give any prospects up, instead taking on the rest of Montgomery's contract for the season
  2. Look, we all know SS is a major issue, and it's not what we foresaw before the season. I'm sure the front office sees it just as we do. The problem is that this deadline offered no meaningful upgrades at that position or at 2B either, if moving Turang over was even an option mid-season. While I wish we were able to do more, we can take solace in knowing that none of the other NL teams besides the Padres made earth shattering moves that will drastically affect our chances. And I do believe this sets us up with the best farm system in the league that will be fully capable of pulling off a major move in the off-season at SS or another position of need, when the actual star level players become available. But I'm not judging anyone who is incredibly disappointed at today's results.
  3. They said they were all in but didn't declare it
  4. They said they were all in but didn't declare it
  5. Where's the proof that what the Padres have been doing is working? Made it to one NLCS, which was completely uncompetitive. Wouldn't the Padres be a better team right now with Wood and Abrams? Seems like this desire to go "all in" is emotion based rather than objective. I'm not saying to do nothing or that I love how this trade deadline has gone, but we can still remain objective about our chances.
  6. Nothing earth shattering has happened from the Brewers point of view. Cubs have done essentially nothing. Padres aren't our problem to deal with until playoffs. Rest of the NL has made only subtle moves.
  7. Let's give the Angels some credit. I think they may have the 2nd worst farm system ahead of the Padres, at least temporarily.
  8. You're not getting one of the best young players in the game without Made or Pena (or both), plus everything else you listed (or more). I would send Made out for Henderson in a heartbeat for the record.
  9. Does not. May have been by design to stay within the bonus pool or just a product of not having anyone to give that extra money to. My guess is the former, that the organizational mandate is to not use the overage money. I don't believe we used it last year either.
  10. Yeah we're definitely not picking up a $12 mil option for him. Believe it's a $500k buyout.
  11. Areinamo was going to be my guess. Having a good year but no where to go in the system.
  12. I've been assuming this is an upgrade to Haase. I expect that what's plaguing Contreras is going to require surgery and months of time to recover in the offseason.
