  1. Ugh. The 6 year control changing would be completely a pro-big market team issue. I guess that type of thing would completely show that any small market owners who don't fight it do not care about making their teams good. It would be interesting to see that, at a time when the US major sports are all opening to more and more world involvement, as that would be MLB really changing the Latin American systems. Which - to be fair - currently is such an interesting balance .... you pay big $$ money for young kids, and also tap even younger kids (12yr olds!) into an environment to build toward those paydays. But those kids also have to deal with infrastructure, culture, and many other issues, to perhaps peak in A ball somewhere. Quite the balance of good/bad, currently.
  2. Dude just needs something off speed enough that Murph will let him face the lineup the 3rd time.
  3. Yeah, Josh A may be out too. Don't believe he's played since (Friday??). Early and strong injury bug through the system this year.
  4. So during spring, Letson seemed to have gone up a tic (or 2, even) with his velocity. Can his control issues stem from that, and him trying to throw harder? Gotta figure his health is the #1 thing this year, and anything else just needs time to work through, no?
  5. Certainly that BABIP will plummet. If he can stay healthy, though, he'll be in the center of a good O lineup, and should produce. Thanks Alexis!
  6. Non-Brewer memory of Lopes was in the summer of 85, when living in Illinois, Watched the Cubs off and on, and that 40 year old stole 47 bases (in 51 tries) that season. Man.
  7. Thanks Jack! Excellent analysis & breakdown, as ever. Ultimately, unless Joey hits as well, I'm afraid the wave of younger middle infielders will move him out of the system via trade to a second division club which can be more one-dimensional.
  8. I think the hiccup with extending Sal is that he doesn't hit arbitration for a couple of seasons, so he will be pretty cheap until he is already 30.
  9. Unfortunately, more and more, it feels that Turang has priced himself out of the MKE market. If Hoerner extended for $141MM, and is both older and not as good of hitter, the writing seems to be on the wall.
  10. With such dislike between the football franchises, one would think that also carries over a bit into the baseball relationship.
  11. So isn't that why they went out and got Harrison, Drohan, and Sproat, no? More depth, because it is always needed.
  12. Just so interesting the statement that the Crew would like another trustworthy (is that meaning proven?) righthander in the pen. Very unlikely there is a Megill trade coming, then. Unless it is in June when they have some young guys having proven things? They certainly have a lot of arms as options to work in the pen.
  13. If Sal gets to 200 hits, being around 10 homers isn't going to matter.
  14. Actually I noticed that in the box score on MLB. The last pitch to 2 different hitters was listed over 97. Certainly exciting, agreed.
