  1. https://twitter.com/BleacherNation/status/966850326065278976/photo/1 The difference is drastic -- looks like a CGI effect in a movie more than actually real. I saw Schwarber on TV the other day. His weight loss is pretty dramatic. However, it seems as if that photo is slightly skewed or something. He has lost a lot of weight - but he doesn't look as thin as that photo. Here's an article with an embedded video of Schwarber. https://nesn.com/2018/02/cubs-kyle-schwarber-looks-like-different-person-after-offseason-weight-loss/
  2. Any rumblings? No. Nothing more. Sorry. Source is good, but doesn't communicate often. I'll post anything if it comes in.
  3. Dubon had a really nice 2016 season - had an OPS of .840. But that has been the outlier - so yes, I agree it's too high. The bat that we saw last year likely won't play as a starter in the majors. As you say, I see him as a utility guy. Nothing wrong with that - I just don't think future utility guys rate that high on the prospect scale. There's still a chance the guy fills in a bit physically and develops a little extra pop, but at age 23, that time is coming quickly. Or perhaps he makes some adjustments at the plate that tap into some more power. I certainly hope so, but I'm not counting on it.
  4. Woodruff might work as well. He could step right into the rotation.
  5. This was some interesting stuff. Thanks Benji and jonescm128 for the info.
  6. Gents, no matter what you think of HH and his posts, let's just let it go. No need to dwell on the nature of his stuff. If he comes back and provides real info, great. If not, we'll survive. Just move on.
  7. Souza should improve outside of Tampa - and in Arizona, he could be a 35-40 HR guy. Yes, he's going to strike out 180 times, but he should be able to improve his power and batting average by going from one of the worst places to hit to one of the best. And while the guy isn't a great defender, he's adequate at this stage of his career - certainly better than Yasmany Tomas. I think he will produce similar to Domingo Santana - but with better defense. Well, what do we think about the humidor being installed in Arizona, though? Forgot about that. Well, it probably won't be worse than Tampa.
  8. I want people to know that we will do a new Top 25 right at the start of the season. This allows everyone to get a bit of a handle on all the young players, where they will end up, etc.
  9. Keep this thread on topic please. If you want to go and make 20+ posts of stuff about Mark Cuban, basketball and football owners, and whatever else - go do it elsewhere. This is the Jake Arrieta rumor thread. Please stop other stuff. We are getting far to many complaints from users about people taking threads off topic like this. If it continues, we will delete all these posts. And if that doesn't stop it, we can always issue bans to repeat offenders. As I said, it's getting tiresome to have to experience this kind of thing every few days. Please make it stop.

  11. Souza could hit 40 HRs in Arizona. Of course, he might hit .225 as well.
  12. Tampa got Anthony Banda in the Souza trade. Could make Archer more readily available to deal. And moving Souza might make them more inclined to want Santana. Just an idea.
  13. While I understand your comments, I'd ask that people just refrain from this line of conversation. It just leads to too many people sniping at each other. HH has his Twitter stuff and that's great. We don't need to get into any flame wars over its validity. Thanks much.
  14. Full deal: Tampa gets former Brewer farmhand LHP Anthony Banda from AZ and minor league 2B Nick Solak from the Yankees Yankees get IF Brandon Drury and minor league RHP Taylor Widener from Tampa. Arizona gets OF Steven Souza Jr. from Tampa
  15. Anthony Banda also going to Tampa. Details here: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/yankees-rays-dbacks-trade-brandon-drury-steven-souza.html The move probably takes Arizona off the table for any Brewers OFs as they now have Souza, Dyson, Pollack, Peralta and Tomas. Could mean Tampa is moving Archer. Just a thought.
  16. The Brewers started considering trading Aguilar the moment that Milwaukee considered moving Braun to 1B. Probably before.
  17. That's not really anything new. I know that Stearns has been very aggressive - for months - talking to teams and laying groundwork for potential deals. Half the players on the club have probably been discussed with other teams.
  18. Brewers loved Pavin Smith last year. He would have likely been picked if he was still available. Sure, but now? Most scouts feel the power will come for Smith. Not 25 HR type power - but more like 15 HR power. No HRs last year is certainly a concern, but the .400+ OBP is really attractive. He would be a little unconventional for a 1B - but it's not just about HRs for a corner IF. I would bet the team would be all over him if they got the chance - but that's just a guess.
  19. Before end of week soon? Only heard 'coming soon'. Sorry for the vagueness. That's all I got.
  20. HH just claimed the chances of a Santana trade dropped to zero. Your source must know something HH source doesnt? Unless Santana isn't being traded and we're moving a different OF. Don't know any details.
  21. Source says something is going to happen soon with our OF surplus. Don't know who or what is on the menu, but we will see.
  22. I'd question why we were so interested in Pavin Smith. Brewers loved Pavin Smith last year. He would have likely been picked if he was still available.
  23. If he opts out, that means he's done well, and thus we'd be able to tender him a qualifying offer. And thus get back an even better draft pick.
  24. I'm good with Thames. Just avoid having him face lefties whenever possible. And keep him out of the OF. I think we can expect solid production from him if we stick to that scenario.
  25. No problem.
