  1. I think Ortiz nets a reliable middle relief pitcher type, or a 5th starter swing man which the Brewers need with the two pitchers they traded for at the deadline now FA. Mitchell if traded before next season I think brings back more. I think as part of a package to a team like Seattle or Los Angeles A who have SP to traded. Although Mitchell Is probably more attractive to Seattle than LAA who would want younger prospects I think.
  2. I agree with most of what you wrote except that if Hamilton was in the game they probably have an out. Hi arm is not strong enough to make that play that deep down the line and away from 1B. Ortiz was the guy you want at 3B in that spot. The bigger issue was Bauer's play at 1B. Anyone that has played 1B with any skill would tell you that throw was on the 1B too make. Bauers simply didn’t come up with the ball in the biggest moment in franchise history to date. He will have more chances to make up for it. There is a lot of series left. Bigger questions about having Harrison and Drohan on the roster instead of Patrick and possible Anderson or someone else is a debate for another day. I think carrying a reliver you don’t trust pitch and another who has had arm injuries by your admission was probably a mistake in hinesight
  3. I think the question is with the 26th man do you want to be able to play Sanchez or do you need a RHP to open for Gasser so he doesn’t need to start and you can get the opposing team to start more LH bats? If you need an opener I’m not sure you want to use Patrick there Senzatela might be ok there with his history of starting but you risk him putting you in a hole trying to be too cute with the lineup. The Brewers are unfortunately kinda thin in RRP that pitch the middle of games. I’m not sure what the right answer is
  4. They should not call up Burke or Fischer. It’s more important that they are able to play in the minors if there is a lockout. Adams or Naylor make more sense and definitely could help. Plus the Brewers could use September to see if they can help next season.
  5. The Pitching answer is Jo Jo Romero. The position player they definitely shouldn’t call up an outfielder they have too many now. Bo Naylor wouldn’t be the worst because that would allow using the other C at 1b and DH to get more RH bats against LHP and give Big Will time off of C to rest while still playing since he hates to sit. Plus they get a chance to see if he can help next season
  6. Brewers fans need to forget about Lara for the most part of this year. Unless they have a major long term injury in the OF he isn’t getting called up. They have been moved slowly with him to this point, and are only going to call him up to play every day. Once Lovkridge is back they will have 4 OF’s who can play all four positions. Plus Jake who can play LF who they need to find as many AB’s as they can for. In the offseason is the time if Mitchell stays healthy and puts up Mitchell type numbers to look at trading him to make room for Lara at that time.
  7. Sal is not an option in season. If they want him to play 3B that’s something they need to ask in the offseason so he has all winter and ST to work on it. This isn’t beer league softball it’s MLB. He would be asked to move from OF to 3B which he hasn’t played since HS. Very different positions and 3B is a very difficult position to play well. Plus he’s been playing hurt all year
  8. I trust Arnold to get the best deal he can. That being said I’d prefer the Arizona deal of Nelson, Lawler, possibly a lower 30 prospect 15-30 and a comp pick over Gil prospects. If it’s the Yankees and they take Gil to me one of the prospects coming back has to be Kirby because their system is terrible and he is one of the few players that has upside. If they could get Kirby and Jones too I’d take that because you are getting a player in Jones who could help you this season in the field and is different than the bats you already have because he has some pop. If his power translates to the majors I can live with the strike outs because the rest of the lineup is more disciplined
  9. If the Brewers plan to keep Cooper around long time term his position will probably be 3b. Do I think he should be put there in spring training no. Like someone posted already the southern league is a tough place to hit and all prospects struggle there to some extent. Plus the Brewers don’t know how fast Made will keep moving thru the last two levels of the minors. It could take 2 years so I would leave Pratt at SS let Ortiz play tell Murphy if he needs to be benched or not. If he does and Pratt is playing well at AAA promote him if not they will need to find a different answer
  10. One players development has nothing to do with another. Pratt had an off year that happens with kids drafted out of HS sometimes. If he goes to AAA and has a good year he will probably be in Milwaukee by the end of the year. As for Made and Pena. They have both played other positions (3B/2B) so they are getting ready to get to the majors as fast as possible. You can see the Brewers think thier bats are going to be fine at the big league level it’s making sure they have a spot on D for them when they are ready. For example let’s just say that Brice loves Milwaukee keeps getting better the next two years and he wants to sign a team friendly long term deal. IK fairly tail but let’s work the thought experiment. Do you really want to trade one of the prospects or Brice just make room? Or would it be better to have Pratt at 3B, Made at SS, sign Brice for 2B and move Pena to CF? A lot of scouts think he has the arm and at 6’ is tall enough with the way his bat plays with his power. Just stuff to think about that our GM and Minor League coordinaters think about when they watch them play
  11. I would not put Dinges in this trade because imo he has a higher upside than Wilken and could fill a need for the Brewers in a few years. He can play C, corner OF and 1B all positions of need in a few years.
  12. I think we are watching different teams the DH of the Brewers is Yelich, and he is top three in most offensive categories this season. Your point about the Cheap Brewers owner not spending at the deadline when the team has a chance to win in the playoffs is valid. He hasn’t done that in years. He’s lowered payroll even though the fans in Milwaukee support this team better than half the.league. That is until this season where attendance is down 1,500 fans a game. I attribute that to fan fatigue with a cheap ownership that doesn’t care as much as the fans do. They finally have the pitching to go deep in the playoffs and need a power bat, and another RHP to help with the bullpen so it doesn’t wear out. I know the Nationals won’t go for it, but I would offer Myers or Patrick, Pratt, Lara, and if necessary a kid from the DSL for CJ Abrams. Pratt is the big piece they can trade for the right player because they have 2 SS at low A higher than him on baseball’s top 100. Ortiz is just not playing well enough on either side of the game. Abrams by the time he hits FA one of the two kids at low A will be ready to take his place. Now is the time to push the chips in.
  13. For that package of prospects I’d go to the Nationals and see if I could pry away CJ Abrams. I think a package of Pratt, Myers, Lara, and someone from the DSL might get it done. I know guys on here are going to scream about Pratt, but the Crew has two SS at low A ahead of him on baseball’s top 100. By the time he is ready to hit FA one of the two should be ready to take over. The Nationals probably won’t want to but should because they need to seriously lean into the rebuild.
