  1. I trust Arnold to get the best deal he can. That being said I’d prefer the Arizona deal of Nelson, Lawler, possibly a lower 30 prospect 15-30 and a comp pick over Gil prospects. If it’s the Yankees and they take Gil to me one of the prospects coming back has to be Kirby because their system is terrible and he is one of the few players that has upside. If they could get Kirby and Jones too I’d take that because you are getting a player in Jones who could help you this season in the field and is different than the bats you already have because he has some pop. If his power translates to the majors I can live with the strike outs because the rest of the lineup is more disciplined
  2. If the Brewers plan to keep Cooper around long time term his position will probably be 3b. Do I think he should be put there in spring training no. Like someone posted already the southern league is a tough place to hit and all prospects struggle there to some extent. Plus the Brewers don’t know how fast Made will keep moving thru the last two levels of the minors. It could take 2 years so I would leave Pratt at SS let Ortiz play tell Murphy if he needs to be benched or not. If he does and Pratt is playing well at AAA promote him if not they will need to find a different answer
  3. One players development has nothing to do with another. Pratt had an off year that happens with kids drafted out of HS sometimes. If he goes to AAA and has a good year he will probably be in Milwaukee by the end of the year. As for Made and Pena. They have both played other positions (3B/2B) so they are getting ready to get to the majors as fast as possible. You can see the Brewers think thier bats are going to be fine at the big league level it’s making sure they have a spot on D for them when they are ready. For example let’s just say that Brice loves Milwaukee keeps getting better the next two years and he wants to sign a team friendly long term deal. IK fairly tail but let’s work the thought experiment. Do you really want to trade one of the prospects or Brice just make room? Or would it be better to have Pratt at 3B, Made at SS, sign Brice for 2B and move Pena to CF? A lot of scouts think he has the arm and at 6’ is tall enough with the way his bat plays with his power. Just stuff to think about that our GM and Minor League coordinaters think about when they watch them play
  4. I would not put Dinges in this trade because imo he has a higher upside than Wilken and could fill a need for the Brewers in a few years. He can play C, corner OF and 1B all positions of need in a few years.
  5. I think we are watching different teams the DH of the Brewers is Yelich, and he is top three in most offensive categories this season. Your point about the Cheap Brewers owner not spending at the deadline when the team has a chance to win in the playoffs is valid. He hasn’t done that in years. He’s lowered payroll even though the fans in Milwaukee support this team better than half the.league. That is until this season where attendance is down 1,500 fans a game. I attribute that to fan fatigue with a cheap ownership that doesn’t care as much as the fans do. They finally have the pitching to go deep in the playoffs and need a power bat, and another RHP to help with the bullpen so it doesn’t wear out. I know the Nationals won’t go for it, but I would offer Myers or Patrick, Pratt, Lara, and if necessary a kid from the DSL for CJ Abrams. Pratt is the big piece they can trade for the right player because they have 2 SS at low A higher than him on baseball’s top 100. Ortiz is just not playing well enough on either side of the game. Abrams by the time he hits FA one of the two kids at low A will be ready to take his place. Now is the time to push the chips in.
  6. For that package of prospects I’d go to the Nationals and see if I could pry away CJ Abrams. I think a package of Pratt, Myers, Lara, and someone from the DSL might get it done. I know guys on here are going to scream about Pratt, but the Crew has two SS at low A ahead of him on baseball’s top 100. By the time he is ready to hit FA one of the two should be ready to take over. The Nationals probably won’t want to but should because they need to seriously lean into the rebuild.
