  1. Can’t Nashville just take the supposed mlb team instead. Basically aaa talent being paid mlb salaries.
  2. 60 game season. Probably the only way they don't lose 100 in 2020. This roster is garbage. 90% minor league filler.
  3. What garbage. This isn't the ball in glove logo, it some generic, Kirkland brand version. Pathetic they are trying to push this off on the gullible
  4. Wow! This should get the parade committee working overtime planning for next November. A starting rotation with a silver and a bunch of participation trophies.
  5. Good. Guy is a cheater that should have been thrown out of the league years ago.
  6. They’re toast. Have been since May. Season was lost back in December-March when the FO failed to adequately staff the roster with MLB quality starting pitching. September will be how far can they climb in the 2020 draft order.

  12. Just flush that [deleted]. Doesn't deserve to be back. Bud made a huge mistake not banning him for life. Melvin is being equally stupid by keeping him on the roster. What a joke having that [deleted] as the face of the franchise. There's no redeeming that [deleted] Cleaned up by moderator. Use more family friendly language next time.
  13. What an incredibly obnoxious decision. Hopefully none of the stadiums take this recommendation. It's almost like they try to find ways to piss off the fans that want to spend their $$. A giant middle finger to them. Well, screw that.
  14. The Brewers need to find a sucker GM to take this pile of dung off their roster. The team will be a joke as long as he's with them. Both need a fresh start. Maybe dump him in Miami so he doesn't have so far to go to find his new drug connection.
  15. Stars Victorious in 2013 Regular Season Finale By Alex Cohen / MILB.com To wrap up their five-game series at Joe Davis Stadium and 2013 regular season, the Huntsville Stars beat the Jackson Generals by a score of 4-3 on Sunday. For Huntsville, they began the trek to their third straight victory facing an early deficit. Against starting pitcher Brooks Hall, a RBI single by Generals catcher John Hicks in the second inning and a sac fly from outfielder Denny Almonte in the fourth inning put the Stars in a 2-0 hole. Hall ultimately ended up taking a no-decision after giving up those two runs on five hits in five innings of work. The Stars were able to free Hall from a decision and a snag the win in the rubbermatch of this five-game set starting in the fifth inning with one swing of the bat. Against Generals starting pitcher Cam Hobson, third basemen Mike Walker crushed a solo homer over the center-field wall to cut the Stars deficit to one. In the sixth inning, Huntsville got another dinger from a likely source to go ahead for good. With a runner on first and one out, outfielder Brock Kjeldgaard hit a two-run blast for his third homer on the series to give the Stars a 3-2 advantage. Kjeldgaard not only finishes the regular season with a league-leading 24 homers, but that total is also the high mark among Brewers minor leaguers. After the offense scored another run in the seventh on a wild pitch, the Stars bullpen sealed the victory. Righty Frankie De La Cruz improved to 2-4 on the year with an inning of scoreless relief while Kevin Shackelford notched his sixth save of the season after giving up one run on two hits in two innings of work. Reliever Casey Medlen also tossed a scoreless inning. With the victory, the Stars capped off the 2013 season with three straight wins and a series-victory against the Generals. Overall, Huntsville finished with a 59-79 record on the season and ended up the second half with a 30-40 mark. Along with Kjeldgaard leading the league in homer, first basemen Jason Rogers topped the Southern League in runs batted in with 87 and was among the top-10 in the league in hits, total bases, extra-base hits, runs scored and doubles. The Stars will begin their 2014 season on April 3rd at Bragan Field against the Jacksonville Suns and will return to Huntsville for their home opener on April 9th against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
  16. So, my first season as a link reporter is in the books. Hopefully I kept you informed throughout the season. It was a fun experience. I enjoyed following the Stars through the summer. It was very different from anything I've done as a fan before. I want to thank Mass Haas and The Crew for letting me work on the Link Report. Also, I'd like to thank my fellow reporters. You set the bar high with all your work and insights. Well done to all! I'd also like to thank Alex Cohen, the Stars Radio Broadcaster. Many times throughout the year I would reach out to him for a piece of information and he was always quick to respond. It helped me be able to pass, what I thought, were some fun and informative pieces of information on to you through the report. I plan on putting a season end post on the team out sometime this week.
  17. Final: Huntsville 4 Jackson 3 The Huntsville Stars ended the 2013 season on a high note with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Jackson Generals Sunday afternoon at The Joe. With the win, the Stars ended the season on a 3 game winning streak and won their final series. Brooks Hall took the mound to start for the Stars. Working within an innings/pitch limit, Hall (2-4, 4.01) worked 5 innings allowing only 2 unearned runs on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. With 5 innings without an earned run, Hall just missed getting his ERA under 4, finishing at 4.01. He threw 75 pitches, 51 for strikes and had a 6-2 GO/FO ratio. After Hall left, the Stars got 4 solid innings of relief from their bullpen. Frankie De La Cruz was first out. He pitched a scoreless 6th, hitting a batter and striking out 1. De La Cruz (2-4, 4.87) earned the win today. Casey Medlen was next out of the pen. He worked a scoreless 7th allowing a walk and striking out 1. Finally, Kevin Shackelford worked the last 2 innings. He earned his 6th save. He allowed a run on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. The run scored on a solo home run. Huntsville Box Score Brock Kjeldgaard led the Stars offensively today. The big outfielder went 2-4 with a home run, a run scored and 2 RBI's. The home run was Brock's 24th on the season, tops in the Southern League. With the 2 RBI's, he finished with 70, good for 6th best. Brock finished the season on a 6 game hitting streak. Third baseman Mike Walker hit his 12th home run on the season today. Micah Owings stayed hot at the plate, finishing 1-3 with a run scored. After starting his season with the Stars by going 1-27, he finished on a 4 game hitting streak going 7-14. Shortstop Hector Gomez had the Stars other hit, going 1-3. Shea Vucinich and Jason Rogers each drew a walk. Vucinich also scored a run. Huntsville Play By Play Mike Walker got things going for the Stars Huntsville Bottom of the 5th Micah Owings strikes out swinging. Joey Paciorek grounds out, shortstop Chris Taylor to first baseman Steven Proscia. Mike Walker homers (12) on a fly ball to right center field. Hector Gomez grounds out, pitcher Cam Hobson to first baseman Steven Proscia. Brock Kjeldgaard with his league leading 24th homer in the 6th. Huntsville Bottom of the 6th Chadwin Stang lines out to shortstop Chris Taylor. Shea Vucinich walks. With Jason Rogers batting, passed ball by John Hicks, Shea Vucinich to 2nd. Rene Tosoni grounds out, second baseman Gabriel Noriega to first baseman Steven Proscia. So that's it. Huntsville finished with a 59-79 season record. They avoided the worst record in the league by 1 loss. They won their last 3 game on the year and their final series on the season.
  18. Final: Huntsville 7 Jackson 0 Stars starter Ariel Pena (8-9, 3.73) and 4 relievers combined to shut out the Jackson Generals 7-0 Sunday afternoon at The Joe. Pena, who has been on a roll as of late, started and worked 5 very strong innings. He allowed 2 hits and only 1 walk while striking out 6. Pena threw 54 pitches, 37 for strikes and had a 3-3 GO/FO ratio. After a rocky June and July, Pena has been very good in August and September (today). Over his last 5 starts, Pena has given up only 4 runs over 28 innings pitched (1.29 ERA). If he's not a September call up, he should at least feel good going into the off season with the way he finished. After Pena exited, the Stars bullpen kept the Generals off the board. Micah Owings was first on. A day after a 2-3 outing with a home run and a couple RBI's at the plate as an outfielder, he pitched a 1-2-3 6th, striking out 2. Next, Greg Holle was called on for the 52nd time, tops in the Southern League. He worked a scoreless 7th, allowing a hit and striking out 1. With the scoreless innings, Holle was able to drop his ERA below 4 to 3.96. Eric Marzec came on to pitch the 8th. He was his typical dominant self, allowing no hits or walks and striking out 2. With his scoreless inning today, his ERA now sits at 1.99. Finally, Arcenio Leon closed out the game with a scoreless 9th. The Generals got a couple hits of Leon, but he buckled down and got out of it unscathed to seal the shut out. It was the 10th shut out for Stars pitching this season. Huntsville Box Score The 7 runs the Stars scored today matched the most they scored in any game during August. Once again, Jason Rogers paced the Stars offensively. Rogers went 2-3 with 2 doubles, a walk, a run scored and 2 RBI's. Rogers will go into the final game of the season leading the league in RBI's with 87, 2nd in home runs behind teammate Brock Kjeldgaard with 22, tied for 5th in the league in hits with 130, and tied for first in the league in total bases with 225. With the 2 hits today, Rogers pushed his average to .272. Brock Kjeldgaard, in the line up today as the DH, had a big hit for the Stars, a based clearing double in the 3rd. Chadwin Stang reached base 3 times. He singled, doubled and drew a walk. Catcher Shawn Zarraga had 2 hits and scored a run. Right fielder Rene Tosoni reached base twice, single and a walk, and scored twice. Second baseman Nick Shaw was 1-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. 19. Final: Huntsville 5 Jackson 3 The Huntsville Stars snapped their 5 game losing streak, defeating the Jackson Generals 5-3 Saturday Night at The Joe. Starter Taylor Jungmann turned in a solid outing in earning his 10th win on the season. 21. Final: Jackson 8 Huntsville 5 The Stars limited the Jackson Generals to scoring in only 1 inning tonight. Unfortunately, the Generals scored 8 runs in that inning en route to an 8-5 victory Friday night at The Joe. Starter Andy Moye, thanks to a couple double plays, had thrown 3 scoreless innings when the Generals got to him in the 4th. Moye (6-15, 4.25) was tagged with 5 of the 8 Jackson runs. For the night, Moye finished with 3 1/3 innings, 5 runs, all earned, on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out only 1. Moye threw 68 pitches, 33 for strikes and finished with a 2-4 GO/FO ratio. Not the way Andy wanted to finish the season. Casey Medlen was brought in to try and get out of the 4th. He finally did, but only after allowing 3 inherited runners to score and 3 more of his own. 24. I see things the same as most. Jimmy Nelson, Hunter Morris, & D'Vontrey Richardson as locks. I believe Brooks Hall will be protected. They have a pretty large commitment into him with that signing bonus. I also think Kevin Shackelford has pitched his way on as well. Upper 90's consistently. "Young" arm when you consider he wasn't a full time pitcher until 2010. Kind of player that usually draws attention in the Rule V. Both Jason Rogers and Eric Marzec have played well enough to deserve consideration, but I think both will end up being left off. I also think Kentrail Davis will be left off again, more so because of what Caleb Gindl and Khris Davis have done. Davis kind of reminds me of Erik Komatsu. The other player I think will get serious consideration will be Kyle Heckathorn. Former 1st rounder. Got bumped to AAA when Josh Stinson was claimed by Oakland at the end of spring training and had a decent year there. Big frame. Found success after he was moved to the bullpen second half of last season. If he doesn't get added, I think he ends up making someone's team in spring training. Might come down to him and say Michael Olmsted for that roster spot. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
