  1. Is Ricky trying to get put out at all 4 bases tonight? That would be some kind of cycle, wouldn't it be? Thank you, questionable balk call.
  2. It seems like they leave Davis in too long this year, and that's probably why his ERA is higher than last year and he never gets any decisions. But that was AWESOME. D. Lee KKKK
  3. Either Houston just made about their 5th web-gem, or Uecker is pulling his "JUUUUUUUST a bit outside" bit from Major League. Too bad. Sounds like Cruz smoked it.
  4. Exactly. We have about 10 guys on the bench now, and Magruder is still pinch-hitting, ESPECIALLY from the left side? Unreal. Obermueller would have been a better option.
  5. You know, I wonder if this will open the door for either a Hendrickson or Sarfate start. They might not fare any better, but they're both on the 40-man, they're both "stretched out," and Obie may have pitched himself out of a spot yet again. Note that whoever is the 5th man pitches the free game on the 29th against the Reds.
  6. In his defense, that would have probably been a 1-2-3 if Jenkins could run, but I'm not sure why he should be defended at this point. It sounds like they're crushing the ball off him.
  7. I can't stand playing in Houston. That stupid train is an overkill given that they use it for every freakin' run. It obviously gets under my skin; I wonder if it does the same to the players. Either way, it sounds like a playoff atmosphere there. Our guys appear to be scuffling (swinging at bad pitches, error, Obermueller). Hopefully we can regain some momentum and shut the crowd up a bit.
  8. Obie is hit-or-miss. Our bullpen doesn't have me brimming with confidence right now, so let's see if we can get one of those masterpieces like vs Houston last year, or Washington this year. He's due. And this has somewhat slipped under the radar, but the Brewers are 5-0-1 in their last 6 road series. That's crazy. Either they'll lose their first road series in 7 tries, or they will go over .500 tomorrow. Something has to give.
  9. And this is the latest the Brewers have been at .500 SINCE... 1992. Hawing, I prefer to look at it as "9 wins until 82," but that's just me. Your benchmark is an accomplishment as well. Time to actually break through to ABOVE .500 tomorrow.
  10. And another thing about Turnbow not pitching there...if you guys ran the team, he'd pitch 162 games.
  11. Well, instead of just losing conventionally when we have a chance to go over .500, we make it last 12 painful innings now. That's progress.
  12. Seriously, if we put in Turnbow here, who closes the game if we score? Jorge? Cappy2? That's why you don't put in Turnbow here.
  13. Lehr. Best option, but Ohka better go long tomorrow.
  14. This game will likely either end with a Brewers victory, or people complaining to no end about Kane Davis, either of which will be amusing. Also, we exceeded our groin-shot quota for the night (Hall, home plate ump). Add the balk, and we've clearly got our money's worth here.
  15. Alright. If the Brewers don't score, here are your options: Capellan DeLaRosa K Davis Santos Lehr (used yesterday, will need someone for Thursday) I don't see us agreeing on anyone in this list, but I'd like to know which one you guys hate the least. And if one of them takes a loss, they will be skewered; that is a given.
  16. Just throw a black cat on the field, Sutton. My goodness.
  17. Hopefully the Brewers can win this one soon. That inning allowed Arizona to insert a much better line-up. And hopefully we won't have to blow too much of our bullpen with the bottom of the rotation coming through. This game feels awfully important. I was REALLY sweating out the 8th. It's awkward feeling this way about the Brewers in September.
  18. Yup. We really could use those 2 runs back now. Lidge starts the 9th if it's 5-3, but this rally does strengthen the Wise argument. My point is just that we can't use Wise and/or Turnbow in every situation, and our next-best options are Lehr and Eveland. That's quite a drop-off.
  19. Yeah, it's a tough call, Kiwi. Maybe now Wise won't have an opportunity to pitch for 5 days, which would seem like a waste of a good pitcher. I just get frustrated when we don't have Wise available to pitch when we need him most, however. And with Helling starting, maybe we need him to go 2 innings tomorrow. I admit, when he gave up that homer, Davis's mlb.com gameday photo's facial expression changed--in my eyes--from "I'm not smiling because I'm a tough guy" to "I'm not smiling because I know I won't be in the major leagues next year." I still can't say I blame Yost for going to him in that situation. If Santana was around, we would have had another option.
  20. Why not Matt Wise? Because then Matt Wise wouldn't be available to pitch when we're up 3-2 in the 8th tomorrow. Our bullpen just isn't deep enough to have really good pitchers for every situation. Davis was one close-call from getting out of that inning (according to Uecker), and Berkman is really freaking good. It wasn't that bad of an idea.
  21. I still think Obie can be servicable somewhere. Maybe it's in this role, or maybe as a starter with a very short leash. It just seems like he can be quite effective at times, often for 2 times through a line-up. At the very least, I'm glad he kept tonight's game from getting blown wide-open.
  22. Great. Scratch two wins off Hoffman and it doesn't even matter. In sum, what a kick-to-the-bag of a game.
