  1. Yes. We have had the "Terrace Treat" package for 4 years now. It started out as buy 2 seats (at the season ticket price), get 2 free so it was $5 a ticket when we started it in 2008. It went up to $6 per ticket in 2010 I believe and is now $8 a ticket for 2012 season. Again, this is a very good price, but when you live over an hour away and can't make it to every game and can't sell some of the games, it gets a little tougher to eat the tickets or sell them last minute to friends. Definitely weighing our options before we renew. I believe they stopped offering the Terrace Treat deal to new season seatholders in 2010, but I could be wrong.
  2. I was expecting an increase for our full season in the terrace, but a 25% increase was a little more than I was expecting. I thought the tickets would go up $1 each, not $2. That means my ticket package is going to cost me an extra $648 in 2012. In the grand scheme of things, $648 is not a ton of money, but coming off playoff ticket costs on top of the regular season cost, it stings more than usual, especially when I drive over an hour one way to the games. If it means staying competitive, I am OK with the increased cost, but the Brewers need to be careful about taking the fans coming through the gate for granted.
  3. The economy has hit them so hard, they might have to weigh watching the game on a 46" TV instead of a 50". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Don't let the economy be an excuse for a historically pathetic fanbase. It's the playoffs. Nobody should struggle to sell out a playoff game regardless of the economy.
  4. Yeah, I had a friend of mine offer me $200 for it. I want to keep it for now anyway. I got it for $30 so I think I did OK. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I just really had no idea what it was worth, but liked it and the price was right and the guy carried it all the way to my house on a bike so I would have felt bad sending him home with it.
  5. http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j422/Jenksfan5/MillerLiteBrewers.jpg So long story short, I am pulling into my driveway with my two little boys and a guy comes up behind me on his bike and scares the crap out of me and starts talking to me about the Brewers. First asking about my Brewers plates and what they cost etc. Then he asks me if I'd be interested in an old Brewers Miller Lite neon bar sign. I said sure, but had no idea what they are worth. So he offered me the sign at a price and I said if it works, I would take it. He bikes back to his house over a mile away and brings it back on his bike in a plastic bag. The sign is a little dusty, but seems to be in good shape and works perfectly so I am happy I got it to add to my collection, but I have no idea what it is worth (not that I want to sell it), but just for future reference. I thought I'd give the collective braintrust at Brewerfan.net a try to see others opinions on it. Thanks!
  6. I have been eyeing StubHub lately as well and Wednesday might be the clincher. I am planning on going with some friends and family on Wednesday if the magic # is down to 1 after Tuesday night. I have been to Wrigley many times, but have always driven and parked near the stadium. Thinking about taking the train this time, either driving to Chicago and taking the train from the northside to Addison or from Milwaukee. Can anyone comment on what might be the best/cheapest way to go as far as using the train?
  7. My brother and I talked about seriously doing this the next time the Cards came to Miller Park in late August. It would be a hoot! I never understood sign stealing from the perspective that if you think a team is stealing your signs, simply change your signs like teams so often do! It is not that difficult of a concept. If your signs are being stolen, you are not trying hard enough to change them up to throw off the other team.
  8. I hope you mean that the recovery room or hospital room has a TV because if the actual delivery room had a TV, that's nuts. Most deliveries now occur in the room you are staying unless it is a C-section. I think it is a hospitals way of trying to make you feel at home. That's why it costs $10,000 to have a baby. Someone has to pay for the flat screens! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Does anybody know if you are on the Season Ticket payment plan if you still get an entry? In reading the rules, it appears that you must be paid in full, but that won't happen until March for those season ticket holders on the payment plan like me. Maybe I should call my ticket agent?
  10. Gallardo was my favorite Brewer http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Did it say whether or not Yo has read the law or was he just making a stand? I can see why he has concerns with his Mexican heritage and if he wants to use the ASG to make his point, it is his right as an American. American citizens have nothing to worry about other than having to show their ID if asked. People have to do it all the time to drink and buy cigarettes even if it is clear that they are of age. It can be an inconvenience, but that is about all. Sometimes I think we get offended too easily. I always say that if you are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. Now if the law is passed and it is demonstrated that people are being harassed by law enforcement just because of their race, that is a different issue, but nowhere in the law does it say that a police officer has the right to randomly check an ID if the person is doing nothing wrong. I think Cano said it best "That's a political thing," New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano said. "I don't have anything to say about it. They already made a decision. If I say anything it's not going to make any difference." Let the state and the feds battle it out and keep sports figures out of it. (Hopefully not too political of a response http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif )
  12. So instead you'll be supporting the respectable scalpers in the ticket re-sale zone? Can't blame someone for selling their opening day tickets to cover part of their season ticket costs. I invest about $2,000 in season tickets every year and drive from over an hour north to get to the games so if I can pay for 20% of my ticket costs to help cover gas, I just might sell my opening day tickets on craigslist. I guess that makes me a d-bag.
  13. Well there goes my T-shirt idea. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Wasn't sure how to pull it off anyway without it being blatantly obscene.
  14. The only thing that I would like to add is the fact that you cannot possibly say at the time the Brewers made the deal for Sabathia, they had no chance of winning the World Series. I know Sheets did not have a great track record for injuries, but at that point, he was healthy and pitching very well. The combination of Sabathia and Sheets made the Brewers a formidable matchup for any team in the playoffs. Obviously, Sheets did not stay healthy and the Brewers limped into the playoffs, but that did not make the season any less exciting in the last week. As others have stated, you can't score with the prom queen if you haven't been invited to the dance and anything could have happened in the playoffs. Trading LaPorta and change did not mortgage the future by any means as we still have a pretty decent farm system and our major league talent is still very competitive. You use prospects to build your team for the long-term and as trading blocks to push a good team over the top. The Brewers built the winner through the farm system and then went for it when they thought they had a good chance of winning it all. That is exactly how I want the Brewers to compete in the future. Would you trade Gamel or Escobar and others for Roy Halladay if the Brewers are right there at the all-star break again this year? If it meant increasing the Brewers odds of making the playoffs again this year with the chance to win the World Series, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
  15. Hoff's sale price is $1.59, but the sale is almost always going on. I think regular price is $1.99/lb. It is located on the left hand side of the road (Hwy 49) right in the middle of town right across from Dan's Villlage Bowl. If you want, they always have their weekly specials on their website www.hoffsmeats.com. You can't go wrong and the price is great.
  16. Most people probably don't make it through Brownsville, WI too often (a few miles west of Hwy 41 on Hwy 49 south of Fond du Lac), but if you do, Hoff's brats are hard to beat. It is a little Ma and Pa's grocery store that has its own butcher shop and they make their own brats. They have a variety of flavors and they are excellent. I highly recommend their jalapeno brats if you like a little spice, but their potato or onion or plain or italians are all very good as well. Usually you can get them fresh for $1.59/lb. (about 4 brats), but often times they have frozen 5 lb packages for $1.00/lb. I will take them over any kind of store bought bratwurst any day of the week and they are very reasonably priced. As for preparation, I was at a tailgate party on Opening Day with the carmelized onions, peppers, garlic etc. and they were incredible, but I saw a recipe on TV the other day where you boil brats in Mountain Dew, jalapenos and onions before grilling. That sounded interesting to try and probably has a good combo of sweet, spicy and brat flavors. I am going to try that with my next batch.
  17. I have noticed a number of players laying off pitches that they were striking out on last year, Braun in particular on that borderline low and away slider. Hart has looked better on occasion as well, but still is susceptible to the low and away slider, but he is getting better as well. Maybe it is Sveum, and maybe it is maturity, but the trend is definitely a positive. I am not too worried about Weeks OBP yet at this point because of the sample size, but he seems to be centering on the ball more often this season. He seems to have the most hard hit, hard luck outs of anyone on the team aside from Braun maybe. I know an out is an out and that Weeks still pops out and strikes out too much, but he has some hard luck when it comes to hard hit balls being put into play and being recorded as outs. You have to admit that he looks better at the plate and I think that that is due to his wrist being absolutely 100% more than anything else. Randolph/Sveum deserve some credit probably as well, but hopefully the trend can continue for Weeks.
  18. Man, I was trying to buy additional tickets and the site is log jammed and I can't even get 4 seats together for a lot of the Cubs games. They want you to purchase the tickets all at once, but with the site malfuncitoning because of high volume, it is too difficult to do. I am just going to try later in the week.
  19. I know the free-agent market has changed drastically this offseason, but how can the Brewers not sign Sheets for 2/18? Unless he is hurt, that is a considerably low risk at that price and length of contract. I am getting more and more pissed each day at the prospect of our rotation staying pat into the season. I know the Brewers want to maintain payroll "flexibility" to sign a player if need be during the season, but that is going to require giving up more prospects. Plus, if the Yankees end up signing Sheets, the Brewers will only get a 4th rounder for him. The laughable part is that Sheets will be making about 2/3rds of Suppan's salary this season (at least projections indicate that). I liked the Suppan signing at first reaction, but after about a week, I really thought that it was a mistake long-term and now we can clearly see that his contract is hindering the Brewers ability to better the team. Most of the pieces are in place and it would be a shame to go into this season with a rotation that is inexperienced and suspect on the back-end at best. If I had my choice, I would have put Hoffmann's 6+ million toward Sheets and had McClung or CV close out games. I am getting more nervous with each passing day. I hope the Brewers can patch things up with Sheets and get it done.
  20. No way!!! It is perhaps the greatest game of all time. I was so obsessed with Mike Tyson's Punch Out that I did not stop playing the game until I went through the entire game without getting punched, an accomplishment that I will never repeat again. Now the obsession can start all over again.
  21. So the guy had $14,000-$15,000 in his 401k? Most of the major market indexes are down 35-40% year-to-date. It's the people that were invested too aggressively right before retirement that are really hurting. Many people have lost much more. I do not think that Attanasio losing money in his personal investment portfolio has much to do with the budget being limited. He just realizes that a smaller market team like the Brewers can't make too many mistakes with their signings and the team is betting that the recession is possibly going to effect how many games people go to. Attanasio is a smart guy and the team is run more like a business. We as fans are just going to have to get a little more used to that fact.
  22. I can estimate what the arby eligible players are going to make, I was mainly interested in the players we have under contract for sure going into 2009.
  23. Where can I find a link to 2009 player salaries for the Brewers?
  24. I am going to be optimistic (and a tad unrealistic) about next year's pitching staff. Sheets going down this year hurt the Brewers as usual, but his stock might have dropped just a bit as well. My thinking is that the Brewers will offer Sheets arbitration in order to get the compensatory picks. Sheets is going to accept and sign a one-year deal to prove he can stay healthy and cash-in in free agency going into the 2010 season. (I know, it's a long shot, but a guy can hope). This leaves Sheets making good cash, but the Brewers only have a one-year risk in him similar to Gagne this year. Next, the Brewers brake the bank on C.C., matching Johan's contract and potentially crippling the organization for years to come. Again, not likely, but possible. That leaves the rotation and bullpen looking like this: Sabathia Sheets Gallardo Parra Bush Riske Torres McClung Villanueva Stetter Suppan (yes, a $12 million bullpen long reliever) ?????? Shouse re-signs? OK, that would be a dream, but probably not how it will shake out. My guess is the rotation will look something like this: Gallardo Parra Bush Villanueva/McClung Suppan I hope the Brewers would add a free agent to the rotation, but not sure anyone aside from Sabathia and a healthy Sheets are worth paying the money for. Perhaps Brad Penny or A.J. Burnett, but both are going to command some big dollars and Penny is coming off a sub-par year. Hopefully, my dream scenario comes true, but I doubt it. It is probably going to take a bigger trade to land a quality arm, but at what cost? Is the organiztion willing to give up Hardy, Hart or Fielder packaged with prospects for a potentially #2 starter? It should be a very interesting offseason to say the least.
  25. Good for you mothership. That is just common sense financial planning which you appear to have an excellent grasp on. I am talking about long-term investing after your debt-load is under control and you have an emergency savings built up. I was just commenting mainly on your market timng comment in specific with the first small paragraph of my post. The second paragraph of my post was not directly related to your previous post at all, just general advice for a lot of potential young investors.
