Did anyone get their 9 pack tickets yet?
JenksFan5 replied to TuesdaysWithRillo's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Still haven't gotten my full season tickets yet. Starting to get a little anxious, but I'll give them a few more days. I had the 81-game package with 4 seats in the terrace reserve. My brother got our other 20-game loge diamond box package already last Monday. Do they print tickets based on levels, leaving terrace as the last to go out? -
Prince: "I'm not happy about (contract renewal)"
JenksFan5 replied to lukevan's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
During today's broadcast, Jim Powell was talking about how it was revealed at the owner's banquet on Friday night that ownership/Melvin had offered Prince a very substantial contract and that Boras turned it down. Powell went on to say that Attanasio said that the Brewers would do everything in their power to keep Prince. I don't think it is fair to criticize the Brewers when they put the money on the table and Prince/Boras turned it down. Now we can only speculate on contract details, but Prince could have signed and be making several million dollars this season I would guess. If he wants to risk injury in hopes of really cashing in later, more power to him, but it sounds like the Brewers have tried locking him up long term and if he really wanted more money now, he could have had it. -
Brewers fans need to invade Wrigley Field...
JenksFan5 replied to TheHappyYoungster's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Does anyone know what section "GA" seats are in the bleachers at Wrigley. I tried to buy some seats for the April 3rd game and was confused when they came up with six seats in section "GA". Is this "general admission" like standing room only or is is not assigned seating in the bleachers at Wrigley? I might just be ignorant, but am kind of stumped. Thanks for any help. -
Prince Fielder: Vegetarian
JenksFan5 replied to Brian the Automator's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I wasn't commenting on the fact that it had reached 4 pages because of a debate. That comment was directed more at Prince's reasons for not eating meat, not singling out anyone here. I just found it ironic that a thread would reach 4 pages when a player chooses to go vegetarian. It just shows how badly we need the season to start so we can talk some substance http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Didn't mean to be cause offense with my comments. If people want to eat meat, fine. If they don't, fine. I am just saying that you can probably find something wrong with everything and every food industry if you wanted to nitpick. -
Prince Fielder: Vegetarian
JenksFan5 replied to Brian the Automator's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I find it hilarious that this thread has reached 4 pages already. To each his own I guess, but I do not feel the least bit guilty when I eat a steak or pork chop. Meat is meant to be consumed. I guess I would rather have animals mistreated than the migrant workers that are picking the vegetables, but I guess I value human life more than animal life. As long as it doesn't affect Prince's game, I could care less. -
Sheethead, you know you will still be looking at the box score and if the Brewers win a few you will be right there. It is not fans like you that I am talking about, it is the fans that say "at least the Packers are starting" that really tick me off. People deal with disappointment in different ways. You choose to isolate yourself from your emotions by taking a break from the team. I wish I could do that. I am not nearly as bad game to game as I used to be, but last night was the culmination of frustration with my tirade and it won't happen again (or at least my wife hopes http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) In the back of your mind, you still think that there is a glimmer of hope for the Brewers to make the playoffs (whether you want to admit it or not) and that is what classifies you as a true fan.

Here, here. I am getting really tired of the negativity surrounding this Brewers team and all the bandwagon fans that have been jumping ship on and off the whole season. Being a diehard Brewer fan and a 20-game season ticket holder this season has been an absolute rollercoaster of pure joy during the highs and borderline depression during the lows. Those emotions that we all experience are part of being a fan of a sports team. Does that mean that I don't get upset when the Brewers get swept by the freaking Giants and blow lead after lead to lose games in just about every possible manner? No! I get angry. My wife was scared last night when I just about broke an expensive picture when I threw my remote against the wall and tore off all the couch cushions and threw them all over the living room after Linebrink failed to field that chopper back to the mound. That doesn't mean that I can ever or will ever give up on my beloved Brewers. Emotions are part of being a real fan, but the emotion of deserting your team at any point is not an emotion that a true fan should feel. Emotion is what will bring tears to my eyes when the Brewers finally win the World Series and going through all the losing and sticking with the team through thick and thin will make it all the more sweet.

Jenkins "Where are you Mr Second Half?"
JenksFan5 replied to hauser42's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Not to mention the fact that his two home runs against Houston gave the crew a 2-0 lead respectively. The original post totally confuses me. Jenkins is not a superstar so I am not expecting superstar numbers, but he has been pretty good as of late and has had a respectable season in limited admits, albeit mostly against righties. -
Out of place to tell a sister how to raise her kid?
JenksFan5 replied to danzig6767's topic in Off-Topic Forum
Man that is a tough situation to be in danzig. Can't say that I envy your position, but something definitely needs to be done to give the kid some sense of a normal childhood. I feel really bad for him because he is missing out on a lot of the joys of childhood by running around with other kids and getting dirty, not too mention the long-term social ramifications that this could have on his development. One of the most fun things I did as a youth was spearing/netting suckers in the creek just outside my village growing up. For those non-outdoor enthusiasts, a sucker is a rough fish that swim up shallow creeks in spring in order to spawn. It was probably one of the more "dangerous" activities I could participate in. We carried sharp spears while riding a bike to the creek, then plunged knee deep into 45 degree water while running and spearing these elusive fish. We navigated rocks, barb-wired/electric fences and probably hurt ourselves dozens of times, but it was so fun. Obviously, there was a chance we could get hurt, if not an almost certainty that we would get scrapes and bruises, but I will forever remember it and will have my kids do the same. I guess what I am saying is that there is always a risk in most things you do as a child, but that does not mean you should be sheltered from doing them. Even organized youth sports carry a high risk of injury, but it is very imortant for their development, both physically and emotionally. Do what you can to remain a positive influence in your nephew's life and continue to gradually expose him to new things and hopefully your sister will see that he is able to play well with other kids and there is no harm in letting a kid get dirty or bumped or bruised. -
Has Jenkins Performed Up To Your Expectations?
JenksFan5 replied to bigbrewkahuna's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Jenkins has been pretty much what I expected him to be. I predicted at the beginning of the year that he would hit .275 with 20-25 HRs and around 80 RBIs. He might no hit those totals, but it will be close. His defense has been good and it seems that he has been responsible for more wins than any other single player on the team other than Fielder and Braun with their more consistent production, but look at the games that Jenks contributed game winning blows. I am thinking of the Sunday game against the Twins when he hit his 200th with 5 RBIs, the big 3-run homer in Texas when Cordero blew consecutive saves, the HR and two-RBI single in the 3-1 game against the Nats to push the Crew to 24-10 and a 9-1 homestand, and the walkoff against the Mets. Now I realize that other players obviously played roles in those wins as well and that another player could have possibly delivered the game-winning blows in those games if Jenkins had not, but he has definitely contributed to some wins this season. Not too bad for a player who is not "clutch". -
It turned out to be a good call to buy Under Armour (UA) back when it dropped to $34/share. Today, UA reported profit growth of over 50% from the second quarter of 2006 and as a result, shares spiked at $64.75 before pulling back to $61.41, but still ending up over 15% in the past two days. I had a sell order in @ 64.50 so I sold at its peak and plan to buy it back at another reasonable opportunity, hopefully around $56/share if it gets down to that level again. I think we may have a rival to Nike very shortly. Maybe I won't go that far, but the company is destined for good things.

Has CoCo reached the end of the line?
JenksFan5 replied to kmcasper23's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
My biggest beef with Cordero is that he is blowing saves when the team really needs a win and has a chance to get some momentum going. He has been great for the most part, but the 2 Texas games, the last Cinci game and this game really were opportunities for the Brewers to right the ship or gain momentum and now all of that seems to be lost. I realize that there is never an ideal time to blow a save, but it would hurt a little less if he blew one that made the difference between a 8-2 or 7-3 home stand. Thgis team struggles on the road for whatever reason and then when they do play well enough to win, Cordero has had some letdowns. It is just very frustrating to think that we are two blown saves away from being 4.5 games up right now. Oh well. Enjoy the ride I guess. -
My cousin and I were reminiscing about some of the horrible talent that the Brewers had in their organization during the middle to late 90s. The Brewers are lucky to even have a team in Milwaukee anymore thanks to this group so I just wanted to show my appreciation to the 2007 Brewers in memory of: Robinson Cancel Chuck Carr Rafael Roque Turner Ward Scott Karl Lou Collier Eric Owens Antone Williamson Eric Plunk Kyle Peterson Jesse Levis Steve Sparks Kelly Stinnett Luis Lopez Bill Pulsipher Kevin Barker Brad Woodall Sid Roberson Ben MacDonald Steve Woodard Sean Berry Bobby Hughes Marc Newfield Matt Mieske Brian Banks Jeff Juden Todd Dunn Bryce Florie Marquis Grissom If you ever get frustrated with this team, please read this list and you will immediately feel better. I am sure there are more that we did not think of, but this is the list we compiled over the course of an hour. Go Brewers!

I don't care how good Sheets has been lately. Tomorrow is a must win and if he truly is the ace, he needs to get it done.

Do I have to put the pictures on a website? I am decent with technology in some things, but haven't done much in this area.

You have to be extremely careful with a fickle group like this. When I was that age, lots of people wore FUBU and I was a big fan of Ecko clothes. Then you can go back to the early 90's when Starter was the hottest sports apparel company. See how much of those you see on 18-21 year-olds now. I just don't think they have a particularly wide moat, or one that will be enduring. Under Armour is a much more specialized market than simply a retail clothing line. Ecko and Fubu are not of the same caliber and do not have the same brand recognition. Under Armour has cornered the market on performance apparel in a ton of different sports, from football to hunting. Two totally different lines so I don't think you can compare the two, but each person is entitled to his/her opinion. I feel Under Armour is much more than just a clothing company, but I could be wrong. I put my money where my mouth is and it could bite me, but I doubt it.

I did indeed watch the game with Owen last night and left the room briefly to get something and Carlos Lee immediately hit a home run. I stayed glued to the chair holding him from then on. We are all home from the hospital now and will be watching our first game from home. His first game in person will be on July 20th and we'll see if his good luck rubs off then. I am thinking it might be the perfect night for a perfect game. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone and go Crew! I would be more than happy to show photos but how does one post a pic on the site?

My wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Friday night at around 10 P.M. She ended up needing to have a C-section, but my little boy came into the world with a bang. They sent me and baby back to our room while mom was being stitched up and we were just in time to see Corey Hart hit the 3-run jack to put the Brewers up big. He was 8 lbs. 8 oz. and 21 inches long. We named him Owen Thomas Bilitz. Mom and baby are doing well. He wasn't in the room yesterday when the Brewers lost. I am 2-0 with him on my lap. Tomorrow, I will start teaching him to throw a changeup! Aaron aka JenksFan5

There are a couple of stocks that I currently own that I would recommend. BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX) is currently priced at a value in my opinion. They recently had a little hiccup in testing one of there cancer treatment drugs that caused the stock to plummet, but if they work out the problem, the stock will likely bounce back. It is priced at around $6.60 today. I bought it at $7.17 a share. My goal is to sell at $12-$14 a share. This stock is not without risk, but it is not a penny stock either. The company has developed and is developing some innovative drugs. Another company that I own is a flashy pick, but they have done such a good job in promoting their brand that I think the sky is the limit. I am talking about Under Armour Inc (UA). I bought this stock out of the gate at $26 a share and sold once at $45 and repurchased the stock at $34.50 back in August. I am holding this one long-term as I feel this company is the next Nike. Look around at the high school and college kids and see what they are wearing these days. It is mainly Under Armour performance apparel. They have so quickly gained a share in the market and have promoted their brand extremely well in a very short time. Again, a risky pick, but with an extremely high ceiling. Just my two cents. Past performance is no gaurantee of future results. Please read a prospectus before investing.

I am a little bit of a novice when it comes to technology. I have a DVR with Direct TV and was wondering what I need to transfer my movies to my home PC. Do I need special software or just some cable? Also, if I wanted to burn them to DVD, what is the best software to do that? Help a technology challenged brother out!

But this proved that Sheets is a winner Russ. (supposed to be in blue font) I totally agree it was Sheets worst start in his last five, but it was nice to see him be able to overcome baserunners and errors and a bad start and still throw up zeros. That is all. The WHIP for this game was ugly.
-
Sheets did a great job tonight bouncing back from that rough first inning. He picked the team up big time and got outs even when the defense let him down repeatedly. Not unbelievable stuff, but a big start nonetheless. Interesting how Sheets has won 3 of his last 4 starts when the Brewers were needing a win. He won the only game against a good Mets lineup, stopped the Phillies and a losing streak to the Crew, could have won against the Dodgers if the offense picked him up at all, and now beats the Braves to end a 6-game skid. I would say that is being an ace, but maybe I should start the "a true ace would win tonight" thread for his next start because he will never be able to do enough for some people. Good game Benny and thank you offense for picking Benny up and getting him the win.

Lost Finale--- don't open if you havent watched!
JenksFan5 replied to pogokat's topic in Off-Topic Forum
My guess is that it is Sawyer in the coffin. I believe Kate is pregnant with Sawyer's baby and Sawyer clearly wanted nothing to do with a child if she is as indicated by his reaction when Kate told him of the possibility on the island. Kate asked, "Why would I go?" when Jack asked her why she wasn't at the funeral and then she said "I'd better get back before he misses me or wonders where I am". (I can't quite remember the exact phrasing, but she could have been talking about her son. This leads me to believe that Kate is bitter about Sawyer leaving her to raise their child alone. It also could be Ben in the casket, but my money is on Sawyer. Cool episode nonetheless.
