Well, 14 runs on 21 hits tonight, just as we figured when we saw the 1-9. Might as well find a place in the lineup for Trevor Megill tomorrow and see what happens.
Contreras now up to a .734 OPS and 9 HR. Which, while I believe he can do better when fully healthy, those numbers alone are perfectly acceptable for a starter at that position with his defense.
Quintana is just a guy who doesn’t have the best arm or best stuff anymore but is a smart and savvy pitcher who just happens to find it in the right moments and the games where you’re certain he’s been stinking up the joint all game you look up and he’s somehow through 5 with 2 runs allowed.
I think Yelich will probably get a slight uptick at time in LF while Chourio is out, maybe a start or two a week.
But yeah, mostly business as usual with Perkins just straight subbing for Chourio.
If you’re talking Twitter, X, any social media really, we could win 110 games and go undefeated in the playoffs to win the World Series and that would still be a cesspool.
A quib about him making a misplay in the field and questioning him leading off is people hating?
I actually thought the lineup reactions were super mild tonight compared to what I expected when I saw it.
These game threads must drive you crazy every day if you think that is bad.
With apologies to Murphy, because obviously he did something right with the lineup today, I don’t quite know what he saw in Lockridge’s profile that made him think, “I need to get this guy the most possible ABs of anyone on the team in the first game from the first day he walks in the door.”
Any chance that Ortiz has been looking over his shoulder waiting for the benching the last month and now that he got the vote of confidence of no deadline move to replace him, he’s going to have a great last two months?
The Brewers have a lot riding on being right about Lockridge. It doesn’t sound like Chourio is due back anytime soon.
I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, they’ve been right about Vaughn so far. Just saying, if Lockridge flops big time and the Cubs spend August taking over in the standings, there’s going to be a lot of second guessing.
Ok, but pretty much regularly playing otherwise.
I just don’t think having a day off or two coming off the IL is unusual or a big deal. Forelock at 80% is still better than the roster alternatives.
Brewers fans: “Hey, Cortes should be worth something, right?”
Brewers front office: “Hey, how much do we need to give for someone to take Cortes off our hands?”
Man, I give up trying to figure out what is worth what.
