  1. I just want to say to whoever it was, I don’t even remember, that a couple months ago said Vaughn simply can’t play 3rd, hahaha, neener neener neener. I kid, I too wouldn’t have thought he’d start multiple games in a row there either without a spring training to get used to it.
  2. Lest anyone think I can only criticize Murph, I just want to state for the record that I see absolutely no flaw with either the personnel chosen for the lineup tonight nor the order of said personnel. 1) B Turang (L) 2B 2) J Chourio (R) LF 3) J Bauers (L) 1B 4) A Vaughn (R) 3B 5) G Mitchell (L) CF 6) W Contreras (R) C 7) C Yelich (L) DH 8) L Lara (S) RF 9) D Hamilton (L) SS
  3. The key is that the runner are supposed to be placed where they would have been if the correct call had been made. If Turang had been rightfully out and reversed safe to out on replay, I can’t see a scenario where they would have ruled that Mitchell would have scored if Turang had been correctly ruled out at home.
  4. I’m just fine with it. We need to win this game.
  5. That’s higher than our current regular DH .684 OPS.
  6. Offense has not been doing the bullpen any favors.
  7. Is it just me, or have the ball/strike calls in our games the last week or two been egregiously bad relative to the rest of the season?
  8. I mean, a good direct throw and he’s got him.
  9. Really putting on a defensive clinic today.
  10. Yes. He has like 60 major league ABs and it’s been a mix of good stuff and rookie stuff, exactly what you’d expect. It’s not like he’s just been an outright disaster. He’s been good enough to accumulate 0.4 WAR in that very small sample. Let’s give the 21 year that the organization felt confident enough to give a super long extension to more than like a few weeks worth of ABs before we write him off as a future starter.
  11. And now this. Mind numbingly frustrating game today,
  12. Just a terrible AB by Lara, but Bauers has to at least drive in a run on a 1-0 meatball.
  13. Which is why you do have to mix it up once in awhile and can’t just fire a 4 seamer every pitch and let them sit on it. I know it’s obviously hard to hit 102 no matter what but they’ll get lucky once in awhile when they can just sit on it.
  14. If you’re going to steal there you better make it.
  15. I wouldn’t want him there every single day but the few innings he’s had there this season he has looked fine. If you’re going to start him there Miz is the right time to do it. It beats starting Mark Kotsay in CF in the NLCS.
  16. It was definitely an overreactionary game thread, myself included. Go onto twitter/X and things are far worse. It’s interesting to look at/wonder why, because things haven’t been bad - 4 out of our last 5 and 14-7 since the AS break. I think there’s things that contribute psychologically - particularly when the Cubs start playing well we get the feeling that they’ll always continue to play that well, even when baseball has proven time and time again to be a streaky sport (the Cubs themselves have both winning and losing streaks of 10 games this very season). I think some disappointment over the trade deadline - what we didn’t get, what we got, and what we gave up, is all spilling over too.
  17. People don’t want to hear this but Jesus Made probably isn’t relatively close to a call up. Some chance late next year, virtually none this year. It’s unfortunate they weren’t able to keep Shewmake. There just isn’t much IF depth at the upper minors without him. Some chance of Luke Adams but he’s only an option at corner infield, not particularly versatile. Not really a great fit for a part time utility role.
  18. He got that little nubber single to 3rd that he barely beat out earlier and he gets that “we are so proud of you” pop from the crowd. It's honestly a little sad to see and I’m not sure playing him as much as they do does any favors for anyone.
  19. How bad Gasser is with 0-2 counts is kind of phenomenal. Man needs an out pitch.
  20. He’s not on the 40 I don’t believe. So a move would have to be made unless there’s space.
  21. Tied up. There is still currently a higher chance tonight of the division lead going back up to 5.5 than there is of it going down to 3.5.
  22. Helps when the players that they pamper can be replaced by players equally as good in the meantime.
