  1. What about trading JJ Hardy for Delmon Young and then trading Cameron for Ian Kennedy. I know the Twins would like to move Young to bring up Span and are looking for a shortstop. This would balance out the lineup and probably could move Hart to center. I think a lineup like this would really be solid. Weeks Hart Braun Fielder Beltre - Bush/Prospect Young Escobar Kendall
  2. I agree with you on the Tiger's pitching staff, but I did hear this rumor and it is from a pretty good source. So I thought I would through it out there because of who I heard it from. I think the Tigers would be going farther away from what they need to do in getting hardy, but that doesn't mean that they woudn't do it.
  3. My team for 09 would look like this unlikely but who cares. C: Jason Kendall 1B: Matt Gamel 2B: Orlando Hudson 4/45 3B: Adrian Beltre for Weeks/Hall?? SS: Alcides Escobar LF: Ryan Braun CF: Mike Cameron RF: Corey Hart Bench: Counsell, Kapler, Rivera,Nelson, SP: Yovani Gallardo SP: Manny Parra SP: Justin Verlander for Hardy/prospect SP: Matt Cain for Prince Fielder SP: Jeff Suppan Closer: K-Rod 5/90 Bullpen: Villy, McClung, Riske, Stetter, Torres, Bush, Coffey I think we would have a great pitching staff that is young and could carry us for awhile with a proven stopper at the end of the game. Our defense would be upgraded immensely at every position while only have to worry about what Gamel can do and they could always get a stop gap for one year while giving Gamel time at AAA.
  4. I don't think I have read this anywhere on here, but I have heard through some sources that if Hardy doesn't move to third that he will be traded. The team I heard most interested in him are the Tigers with us wanting Verlander in return. The deal would be based off of trading Hardy and a prospect. I would have to guess it would be a higher level prospect considering Verlander's age and money.
  5. If we are going to make a trade for Street, you have to remember who we are trading with in Beane. He is going to want guys with great plate discipline. The type of trade I could see for Street would be Brantley, Gillespie, and Braddock. To me it seems like quite a bit, but that's what I think we are probably looking at.
  6. I'm just going by the numbers he had the last two seasons and they look the same to me. It actually happened pretty close to the same dates too. So take it for what's it worth.
  7. So I was just looking at his splits and for the last two season his worst era's for the year were in July. So past results show he should, key word is should, return to the Scott Linebrink we all wanted before the season started.
  8. I also think this has something to do with Sheets being lined up with the all star game.
  9. I know Rickie has been struggling and I think it is because of his wrist, but let's look at some stats that show how he rates against other leadoff batters. This is comparing all lead off batters in the national league. Rickie is 5th in runs scored, 3rd in home runs, and tied for 6th in RBIs. The next four are only out of 11 players. He is 9th in batting average, 7th in OBP, 5th in SLG, and 5th in OPS. So as bad as he has been playing he is still in the middle half of the national league.
  10. could it honestly be anymore than counsell or graffy
  11. my lineup for tonight would have to be weeks gywnn hardy fielder hall jenkins braun estrada bush I really think estrada would handle hitting in the 8 spot the best. I personally believe the 8 spot is one of the hardest spots to hit in the lineup and would hurt braun to be in that spot. Estrada doesn't walk or strike out much which I think would fit in that 8 spot.
  12. If that is all it is I have no problem with that. Miss a couple starts, we get to see Yo and we go from there.
  13. I would have to say its something with his thumb. It was all wrapped up last at bat.
  14. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that Sheets had something wrapped around his thumb while he was hitting. Has he always done this or is something bothering him.
  15. I'm not completely listening to the game but I'm pretty sure Turnbow is in and they said breaking ball see you later. If this is true, I know only one pitch, but I think this is a good sign. I keep thinking that if he gets his breaking ball back he will be dominate again.
  16. To me that looks like it could very well be the starting lineup versus lefties this year with Counsel and Jenkins in the same spots versus righties
  17. I believe we totally undervalue jenkins and I'm not saying we are going to get a great return for him, but I believe we will not have to give him away. I'm hoping for a Linebrink for Jenks or a M. Gonz. for Jenks with us paying half. I think that is the key is us paying half. I do not believe Mr. Melvin will just give Jenkins away because he could really help the team instead of just trading him away for salary relief.
  18. The thing about Patterson too is that he is not a leadoff hitter and he doesn't want to be a leadoff hitter and I think that is what we are looking for from our center fielder.
  19. I know he is getting old and probably doesn't have much left, but doesn't he actually fit the best with what the brewers want. He can't be that much worse than Dave Roberts or Juan Pierre and you would probably only have to sign him to a one year deal and still would be able to give Tony Gywnn plenty of playing time to give Lofton some rest for his old legs. I would look into it if Pierre and Roberts are going for to high of price.
  20. I like the idea of trading davis for burrell and then jenkins for garcia(white sox). It takes care of two of the problems that we have. I'm sure the trades wouldn't be straight up, but that would be for melvin to figure out. Then maybe even a signing of Schmidt. Well I guess I can dream. I certainly think are team is much better if this would happen Weeks 2B Hardy SS Burrell LF Fielder 1B Hall CF Koskie 3B Hart RF Miller C Sheets Schmidt Capuano Garcia Bush Then if one of our pitchers do get hurt, which most likely will happen, we have plenty of answers in the minors. I would hope that at least one would be able to step up in Villy, Jackson, Yo, Dana.
  21. beat me to it I actually have to say that I like the way the lineup looks tonight. I feel 6 runs for the night. Just hope its enough for Davis and the pen.
  22. Twins Lineup stewart castillo mauer hunter cuddyer ford batista castro Brewers Lineup Weeks Cirillo Jenkins Lee Fielder Hall Miller Clark
  23. With Brady turning it around lately I really like to see him in the two hole. I really like the way he can work the count deep and probably handles the bat the best.
  24. I really hope Prince gets some starts this series. I know there is a lot of support for Overbay, but looking at his stats lately proves he shouldn't be starting everyday with Prince up. Overbay has 5 extra base hits from July 27 on. He has 4 doubles and 1 triple. How pathetic is that from your 3 hole hitter.
  25. If Rickie's thumb is really bothering him, maybe he shouldn't be playing everyday. I'm a big Rickie fan, but if he is hurt. He's not helping us very much.
