    Since he signed a minor league contract and he's not on the 40-man roster, I don't think it counts as an option if they don't keep him up after spring training. It's probably in his contract where he can take a major league offer from another team if the Brewers want to make that move though. any player that finishes the previous season on the major league roster and signs a minor league contract is entitled to an opt-out date towards the end of spring training. the player can waive that opt-out clause, or can postpone it, or can demand a second opt-out date (usually in june).
