Would someone please tell me why the hell Bill Hall is bunting when Scott Podsednik, one of the fastests guys in the NL, is ALREADY in scoring position at 2B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not against the call at all. Get a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs & there are so many different ways you can score. The most obvious ones being a sac fly & a squeeze play. Of course, the execution sucked, and this team has struggled getting runners home from 3rd with less than 2 outs all season.

Man, which inning was worse, the 10th or 11th? Thank God for our bullpen. Too many wasted opportunities, which you could also say for last night's game. In close ballgames like this, that really is a shame.

I watched Jorge de la Rosa do agility drills before the game, and then asked him about his shoulder. He responded (while motioning from a distance), "tendinitis", one word of English he's learned , and he indicated he'd be back in seven days. I'd look for him on the mound again for sure within two weeks. How many times have we seen this this season? I'm not complaining about the number of pitchers falling to injury, but I'm impressed that the Brewers are so quick to shut these pitchers down & allow their aching arms to rest. I think this is what they were talking about in preseason getting on a more consistent plan from top to bottom. In past years these pitchers probably would have been allowed to pitch through such problems. ***I should have checked the transactions forum first.

How many games as Palmisano gone without getting on base? It seems as though every time I look at the Snappers box score he has a hit or a walk, or both. He hasn't had too many big games, which may say a lot about his approach, and reflects what he told me in my conversation with him. He keeps hitting, he keeps getting on base, and he keeps driving runs in, even if they are one at a time. I bring this up especially given Greg's comments, since the Snappers aren't exactly built for the big inning. Remember last year when Fielder started hot, cooled, and then heated up once June rolled around? I'm hoping we seem the same development this year, since Prince hasn't exactly been hitting the ball particularly well over the last week+. Nice to see Nelson continue to hit well. Same goes for Gwynn, who might be finding his groove, although his current BB:K ratio isn't all that great (he's walking fine, but he's striking out WAY too much). And while kaneyj questioned Rickie Weeks earlier this season, I'm starting to agree with his thoughts that he needs to step up his game. I realize it's his first full season, but I also know how talented he is. I'm far from worried, as similar to Palmisano, given the way he works the count it's hard for him to have those big games to immediately bump up his average. But it has dropped from the .280-.290 range from a couple of weeks ago to the .260 range now. Sarfate with a big game, but the walks continue to concern me. Nice to see Villanueva with a strong effort, and as others have noted, that Franklin trade certainly looks like a good to great deal, even if neither Villanueva nor Woolard ever steps on the mound at the big league level. Will it ever stop raining in the Midwest?

I agree with deeswan. Despite going 0-3 today, he walked twice and scored 2 runs. Getting on base 2 out of 5 times will push his near .400 OBP closer to that .400 mark, despite a drop in BA. Plus, I think he's going to catch fire very soon. It's tough for him to get those multi-hit games because he is so patient at the plate, not to mention getting plunked 7 times so far this year. He might start getting more pitches to hit with Nelson batting well behind him. Great game, thanks for the updates. Let's hope that continues throughout the day!

Nice to see Nelson with 3 walks, who quietly has built up his season total to 10 in 79 AB after taking so long to get his first one. The 10 walks ties him for the team lead with Prince. I should also point out that Hart has 8 in 79 ABs, so he's right at the 1 BB for every 10 AB ratio.

Perhaps this has been discussed a long time ago, but I was wondering about the site's thoughts on Hart batting so low in the order in Indy. Is it just a way of forceing him to work on his pitch recognition to take more walks with no protection? Or are they just sheltering him from offensive pressure to adapt to yet another postion change? Someone else mentioned this a week or two ago, and they seem to have moved Hart around a little bit in the order. I'm not sure the reason, maybe they just want to take the pressure off of him a little bit. Or, maybe Cooper feels batting Hart a little lower gives the team the best chance to win. I'm not so sure it has to do with the position change. if a guy wants to be called sweet lou, then call him that, dont call him soemthing else just cause YOU like it better, its not YOUR nickname. And until one of you actually become friends and hang out with Lou, you dont ahve the right to call him whatever you want. I asked Lou in person about the Cap'n Lou moniker, and he was well aware of us calling him that and he didn't mind in the least. Who was the original Sweet Lou? First one I ever heard of was Whitaker...am I missing something? Edit: Duh...forgot Piniella. I'm not sure if you're just joking SoCal given the spirit of the thread, but Sweet Lou Brock is the first Sweet Lou I remember. I agree that the Sweet Lou nickname is the easy one to come up with, which IIRC is why we came up with Captain Lou.

I'm still plugging along on my G3 266 beige tower. Maybe I'll email the ezboard people & let them know about this. It's probably a simple coding issue.

Is the guest list another ezboard glitch? I don't see that much activity on the boards. Were a ton people in or still in the chat room? No one is listed in the chat room for me, atlhough the chat room hasn't been working properly for me for several months (when I go there, even when I know there are other people in there, I'm the only person that is listed, and I've tried each chat room listed under each individual forum). If anyone else has had a similar chat room problem let me know if you're using a Mac. Once again it is my gift, my curse.

I think the time problems today were caused when ezboard back to the times they should have been. So, since we were posting on GMT, times all of the sudden jumped back. The difference between GMT & CST is 14 hours, and I'm sure it's not coincidental that was the difference in posts (thanks to David for posting real time of posts). So, I switched it back to CST, and we seem to be close. I noticed a few posts that still are a little messed up within threads, but I'm guessing those posts that aren't showing up as the most recent ones were posted some time between the ezboard switch. Of course, who knows. We may be in a new time zone tomorrow, or an hour from now... ***We were still an hour behind, so I bumped us up to EST. The good folks at ezboard probably didn't factor in daylight savings time, quite similar to the pickle matrix. And it's weird seeing this post show up before Brian's from this morning. Hopefully tomorrow all of the posts will be back to normal.

On top of that, Jim Powell just offered another very nice plug for Brewerfan.net, specifically noting Jim Goulart's/MassBrew's link report thread. He brought it up to so listeners could check out the picture of Prince crushing that catcher. I would say that could be part of it, but he just mentioned it. Impressive night for Brewerfan.net. Were people put off that much after a couple of days off?

I just checked this under admin features, and from what I could see & find there was nothing that allowed me to changed the actual date & time. All I could find was adjusting the time zone, which was still on CST. Brian might know how to do this, but otherwise there is no easy fix. If it persists, we may have to contact the ezboard people & have them change it.

In my conversation with Palmisano, he did say that Villanueva had the best control of all of the Snappers pitchers, and was the easiest to catch because he hit the targets Lou set up. I agree that his peripheral numbers look pretty good. If those keep up, his ERA more than likely will drop.

More details of the game are coming back to me now (I was just kidding about my 32 oz. beer comment, after all, I was the designated driver today). Trofholz' HR was a shot to straight-away CF. I know that lend d money has questioned his ability to hit a ball out of the infield, but that ball was absolutely smoked, a line drive HR that probably never got more than 20' off the ground. Rottino's HR was another good shot, although as I did mention before, almost all of the Snappers were making consistent, hard contact off of the T-Rats starting pitcher. Drew Anderson hit a very hard line drive to RF, a shot many of us thought could have been a triple as Anderson eased up standing with an easy double almost before the ball even made it to the outfielder's glove. Guilder Rodriguez has a much more sound swing than Ralph Santana's a few years ago. I was never impressed with Santana, who flew open on his swing similar to Ichiro to generate his ability to make hard contact. Rodriguez used a much more conventional, compact approach. And there was a lot of sloppy play today. Several plays weren't listed as errors in the field, but every time I watch minor league ball (or lower) I'm reminded how much we take for granted how smooth & crisp Major Leaguers play the game. Of course, that's what the minors are all about.
