  1. If we exit this offseason with two declining players in Barmes and A Ram at SS and 3B...color me unimpressed. If we could somehow get both on 2 year deals, I'm more apt to accept it, but we'd be regretting these deals come 2014 season.
  2. Somebody refresh me, without a Marcum extension, we get 2 years of him, correct? Sounds like same would hold true here - 2 years of Greinke. Looks like Doug has a 2-year plan. Both trades are WINS right now, even though we give up a lot for Greinke. If extensions are signed for one or both, it becomes a HUGE WIN. As a General Manager, your charge is to put the best team out on the field year after year, and keep the future in mind. With extensions to both pitchers, he'll have done that. And the system is still decent at the CF and MI positions.
  3. I actually think the haul for Toronto will be greater than many of us are predicting. Lawrie is in the deal for sure. Guessing Peralta will be too.
  4. Call me uninformed....but if there is ANY chance we could obtain Greinke, you do it....2-way, 3-way...Fielder, Rogers, Rivas, Lawrie, whoever it takes, you get it done. 2 years of control, the switch from the AL to the NL and the ensuing drop in ERA and WHIP, the co-ace to put next to Gallardo. Yikes, I think this is a no-brainer...maybe I am missing something.
  5. From what I've heard and read, the prospect is either Arencibia or the recently acquired D'Arnaud. Looks like Jack Z wanted to find his catcher. Would we have given up Salome/Lucroy and Braddock for Morrow? Not me.
  6. Oh I don't think there is any doubt Rivera is a goner. He makes more money than Kottaras I'd imagine...
  7. 10: $1.9M 11 option: $2.25 $250K buyout per Buster Olney
  8. I'll say this, he better get EVERY shot to make the big league club out of spring training. Lefty who sits at 92-93 and can get both lefties and righties out is pretty darn exciting.
  9. Just read this article on OAK's 3B situation...sounds like they're kicking tires on folks... Obviously guys like Cahill and Anderson are off limits, but you'd have to imagine that one of Mazzaro, Gio Gonzalez, Braden and Outman are available, no? I'd take any one of those 4 for McGehee.
  10. I "follow" Keith Law's twitter feed and just saw this: Mediocre Fielder Hits Way to Gold Glove Award #notfakenews about 3 hours ago from TinyTwitter Not sure if he has access to the NL winners that are supposed to be announced tomorrow, but if Prince did win, we could probably start a similar Fielder flowchart? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Had heard rumblings about Doumit. More wishful thinking on my part, maybe - I'm a big fan of upgrading the C position. It certainly would complete the C-SS-CF defensive improvement up the middle that is so essential in baseball.
  12. Ohhhhh, you could probably poke around this forum and find it...it was the other Hardy deal. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Have to imagine Melvin could still find a way to get him with prospects and the like.
  13. Hmmm, this is an interesting quote from Haudricourt: If he's arby-eligible, that would be a bit of a downer...
  14. Actually, just take whatever Charley Walters says and find another player on the same team that has been talked about in other potential trades. Walters NEVER gets it right.
  15. Here's another guy I've been hearing pop up lately in JJ talks...as stated a few months back - hasn't been able to pull it all together for a full season. But the 2008 season of .318/.357/.501 sure is good-looking, as well as the 4.0 WAR. Even so, you'd have to imagine there is a P involved as well, or has Hardy's value fallen that far?
  16. One thing that strikes me about this list/system is how DEEP it is. Good lord, Lintz near the bottom and Adams off completely. True, they have not performed to date, but 2nd round picks from a year prior not being Top 40 prospects really speaks to the quality of players currently playing in the Brewers system. Exciting.
  17. from Gord's Twitter page this morning: Dave Riske will undergo surgery with Dr. Yokum today in LA. the extent of the surgery will be determined once the Doctor examines the elbow
  18. Really? You're that high on him? I need to look at this guy's career stats a little bit more closely.
  19. rumored that Duffy is going down and Swindle is coming up.
  20. SERENITY NOW!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Thank you both for the insight.
  21. So I have been on the phone with DISH for 23 minutes, and they cannot answer this question: If I live in Minneapolis and have DISH, is there any way at all for me to watch the Brewers telecasts on FSWisconsin? Or am I not able to because DISH does not carry MLB Extra Innings? If that is the case, is my best bet MLB.TV?
  22. I was on the bleachers next to Melvin, Witrado and Haudricourt yesterday watching the pitchers bunt, and heard them discuss the Pena situation. According to Doug, he (Pena) is really sad to leave the organization because of the time he spent here and was really hoping to make his mark with our big-league club - and thought this could have been the year. But it sounds like he will have a great chance to stick with the M's, and as Josh alluded to, is excited to get that shot. Good luck to Luis.
  23. Not to hijack, but thought it would be appropriate to post here. Watched the voluntary workout of the position players yesterday and noticed a few things: Braun looks like he added some good weight. To that point, of the 30 or so swings he had in BP, I think 12 to 13 cleared the LF fence. (Hardy had 1 or 2 and that was it for homers). Granted it is BP, but the guy looks locked in on February 15th. Good God. Hart had some nice swings - I'm of the belief that he's not a BP-type of guy since his swing isn't pretty - but for the most part he looked good. Weeks' hair was grown out - I loved it. New year, new look, new results? Billy Hall was walking around just fine, as has been reported. Brad Nelson was mashing the ball. Great to see that everyone but 6 position players reported early.
  24. I'd be interested in the BF.Net Yahoo keeper league if there is still room. Thanks.
