  1. Somewhat random question...but if Soria declines his side of the mutual option...we still pay him the $1M buyout?
  2. Why? I don't understand this at all.
  3. Davies won't be an ace since some people in this thread don't even know his first name... I think we need to acquire the best talent we can and see what sticks. I'm a proponent if tanking...and not saying you can do it, but I certainly don't want to win games this year due to veteran free agent signing types.
  4. I agree homer...the Bucks desperately have needed a superstar for a long, long time. I just hope we do everything we possibly can to keep this kind of talent in Milwaukee his entire career. He alone makes the Bucks worth watching regardless of the team's record. I watched a lot of games in Giannis' rookie year (the tank year) just because of him. The thing I find the most intriguing about him (besides his crazy athleticism that I'm not sure the NBA has ever seen before) is his work ethic. He keeps getting better and better. He appears to have a drive that only the true greats have. I just hope we don't act like the normal Bucks and somehow screw this up.
  5. Also if you think the other sports are 'fair' because of salary caps you really do not understand the economics of sports. It is harder to turn around an NFL franchise that is losing than an MLB one. Basketball is just more random since hitting big on just 1 or 2 players is all you need. I guess I don't understand the NFL to MLB comparison. I feel like it is a lot easier to turn around a NFL team than it is in MLB. Honestly, MLB has made it so difficult for small market teams to compete it has to be hurting their business since it appears to only be getting worse. In the NFL, the Packers can be successful every year. It is rare (does happen to a team or two) in the NFL that a team doesn't make the playoffs for over 10 years. Sure, there are more teams that make it, but the current economics of MLB stink for small market fans. The Cowboys were one of the worst teams in the league last year and right now have the best record in the NFL. Turnarounds can happen in short order. I saw the comparison to Rodgers staying in Green Bay and that's a great one. Giannis just signed an extension with the Bucks. Those moves won't happen for the Brewers and it is depressing. The best case scenario we add all these prospects and maybe have a run for a few years before it collapses. In regard to this trade, I'm ok trading Thorny now. I just think of the arm issues he's had at times and it makes sense why we traded him when we did. I think the reward outweighs the risk on this one.
  6. A rookie hitting the wall at the end of the season is fairly normal. The Brewers are not going to develop SP by sending a guy like Jungmann to Colorado Springs. They might as well trade him IMO if that is the plan. He can't pitch awful in spring training, but I sure hope he's in Milwaukee so we can figure out what he is sooner rather than later. Isn't that what the next few years is all about?
  7. Really like this trade. Rotation will be interesting...I will be pretty upset though if we send Jungmann to AAA again. That would be pretty stupid IMO andcould be a huge confidence killer for him.
  8. I think Harper gets close to $50M a year if he comes close to, meets, or exceeds what he is currently doing. Timing is everything for this kind of thing.
  9. Agree with a lot of the moments here. I can't help but remember Braun's RBI triple late 2011. He took it in stride and the team had some fun with it as well. It just seemed like a team with a great clubhouse environment and was able to laugh at some mistakes. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/6479266/v18664053/stlmil-braun-scores-morgan-falls-rounding-third
  10. Warriors celebrate all the time...maybe more so than any other team in the league. I guess they are just using it as motivation, but pretty hypocritical.
  11. I wish Nashville was on the list, but probably can only support 2 pro teams I guess.
  12. I hope he was hurt or something...
  13. Just Google Matt Garza is an... I've never liked the guy.
  14. I am surprised Washington is on the list? How often does he get to change it?
  15. I've asked this before, but never got an answer (sorry if I missed it). How many guys how have been suspended of PEDs have been traded? I don't want to turn this into a PED discussion, but I just think expecting a Tulo deal just isn't going to happen since I think teams will be hesitant to trade prospects for PED guys. Sign them...sure...but take on the $$$ and give up prospects...that could blow up in your face if that player gets in trouble again.
  16. Would any team this side of perhaps the Yankees want anything to do with his baggage and salary? That's why I'm wondering if we would re-work his contract to go to a winner. If he gets on a hot streak again next year, I at least hope the Brewers pick up the phone when teams call. I'm for a total rebuild and there is no point to having Braun around IMO.
  17. At this stage of Braun's career, I don't think he can get by with pitchers pitching around him excuse. And if a full-strength Ramirez has an impact on Braun we are doomed. I don't see why there are excuses for Braun. He's either not playing or he won't be the player he was. I'm more curious to see if he will request that Brewers trade him. For all the things Braun has done wrong, I doubt he wants to be a part of a rebuilding project at what should be his prime years or just after prime years. I wonder if he will adjust his contract in order to be traded?
  18. I will really, really miss Gomez. He's one of my favorite all-time Brewers and the interview during the game sealed the deal on that. It is very unusual where we trade 2 players that I really respect and enjoyed watching. It seems like we got some good players back, but there are players I'd much rather see the Brewers trade just from a people perspective. Thanks you Carlos and Mike for your years with the organization. Also, I hope Gomez pisses someone off in the playoffs with his hustle and someone whines about how he doesn't do things the 'right' way.
  19. Found this post on an Astros fan site: Ok, I grew up as a Brewer fan, and still check out fan sites. They love the trade. Fiers is what he is. He's not going to blow you away, he's been up and down. Gomez has always had potential, some games looks amazing and sometimes makes boneheaded plays, especially on the bases. That said, I think the Astros have solidified themselves for a run in October and I can't wait!
  20. But let me ask you this. What if Vince Lombardi won the SB with the Redskins after he left GB? Would he have a statue outside Lambeau Field? Would there be this same dislike for Lombardi? Great, great, great, great point. Emotions run high, but this is a perfect example of why short-term items don't matter in history. Bottom line...Favre wanted to play....Green Bay wanted to go with Rodgers...so what?
  21. I get all that, but again like I said in a vacuum. I think issue with gambling that I wonder if it still goes on is when it comes to referees/umpires, etc. It is much easier to buy them off than it is a player or coach.
  22. I'm not advocating for it...I'm just saying if a player made 20 bets a year in baseball all on his own team...that wouldn't really upset me. This is in a vacuum...obviously the thought could be when you don't bet on your team the bookie is betting against your team, etc, etc. In reality, I would guess there are bets for and against your team and that would be bad.
  23. I agree, but if you are always betting on your team I don't see the issue. I also am guessing it would make more sense to be against your team...that is much worse than PEDs.
  24. I guess the Favre situation hasn't been completely healed. And I guess it depends on what the question is...in regard to sport I think Favre leaving was awesome for the NFL. Gambling and PEDs are bad in baseball. The question to me is...what is worse? Gambling or PEDs?
  25. I didn't see Lucroy complaining in 2011 about trading the 1st rounders to make a legit run at the WS... Lucroy has a had some good runs with the Brewers. I hope he gets on one now so we can deal him before a suitcase shuts him down for awhile... Seriously though it is disappointing to hear him sound off like this. If you want to get traded faster, play better and stay healthy.
