I'm sorry but Lucroy is nowhere close to Mauer as a hitter. I agree with this. Luc's offense at C is an asset. I would imagine he could only play at 2B/3B (maybe) and corner OF. His offense wouldn't look quite as good there. I love Luc...but let's enjoy it and if we have to worry about it later we can do that.

Would anyone be against a deal say 3 years $11/12 million like has been discussed? I wouldn't if it meant he was going to get the bulk of the starts. Low Risk/High Reward type of deal.

Also, the 'If DM did/didn't do [X], he should be fired!' posts are really old at this point. If some posters ran the Brewers, we'd go through 8 GMs per season. I agree to a certain extent. I just think in general it is over reacting a bit saying Person X needs to be fired/DFA'd. It gets a bit old. We all know the Ranger and Melvin ties. I would assume that a GM gets a deal he likes and then may tell a team based on what I have I need X, Y, and Z from you. I do wonder what the Rangers will do. They may lose Josh Hamilton and their window may shorten slightly because of that, but they have a lot of talent. Do you throw prospects at Miami for Josh Johnson or do you stand pat? It'll be interesting to see what they do.

There's a few different stories out there regarding Bryant and the trade. I think only Kobe knows the truth, but I seem to recall on that draft night that it was understood where Kobe wanted to play. Perhaps that was all fluff. Back to the Bucks...any new rumors regarding who they are going to draft? Any trade rumors?

Would Hart net us picks at this piont (if he was a free agent after this year)?

I thought Kobe said he'd only play for the Lakers (or that was the impression other teams had)? So...the option was to draft Kobe and trade him to LA...or draft a player to keep.

I've had DirecTV for 4 years and love it. I really don't have too many complaints. I love the sports packages (I get NFL, NBA, and MLB). They do have some on demand type of stuff, but I haven't used that very often. I've found the customer service at DirecTV to be very, very good. They've always settled any issues/problems/etc. I've also noticed that it takes a pretty big storm to lose a signal. While you'll likely get the best deal on your first contract, once that expires if you contact them they'll usually throw in some type of savings for the next term.

Was it really his first start in 10 days? If that's the case, I think it's safe to say we didn't see his best stuff and he was nervous and rusty. I thought overall he looked alright. I just hope it's not a one start and then sent to the minors kind of thing.

No. It means that they almost certainly lowballed him as they apparently did with C.C. and Prince. In the end, if Greinke walks, Attanasio is 0 for 3 in retaining star free agents, and this during an 'upswing' of the franchise with the accompanying attendance. Not good. Does he get any credit for extending players (Braun, Yo, Luc, Hart, etc)?

The only thing I worry about in regard to Rickie just falling off a cliff is his history of wrist issues/surgeries. Hopefully that's not the case, but I could imagine that could be a reason for his terrible year.

He traded a 25 year old who was crushing the ball in Nashville before he even got a chance with the team. He traded that player, along with our best trade asset at the time for a reliever with 1.5 years left on his contract, a weak side platoon outfielder and an outfielder who was a year younger than Cruz, had almost 800 major league at bats and a .286 OBP. If he trades Cruz, that's fine but when you trade him and our best trade asset for that group of players, people will have a problem with it. I get what you are saying here, but there have been other guys around that age that never get the shot in MLB or when they do it doesn't pan out. On the other hand, why didn't Milwaukee call up Cruz? It seems really odd that Melvin was off on Cruz given his history of either being smart or lucky with trading prospects. Does anyone recall if Texas held out for Cruz or if he was really just a throw in? I don't have a problem with trading Cruz, but the return wasn't very good for Lee and Cruz.

Suppan was signed to be a pitcher but also a psudeo player-coach/team leader and I think pitchers like Gallardo & Bush learned a lot from Suppan, especially Yo... That is one expensive coach! I think it's easy to look at things now and say they were mistakes after the fact. I don't like selling low on players. I think JJ should've been traded earlier or never sent to Nashville. If we still had Escobar, it wouldn't have looked that bad. At the time, I believe many on the board here thought we didn't get enough for JJ, but I think that was more related to his most recent play. I think Suppan was the worst move in free agency and at the time that deal seemed bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the Carlos Lee deal at the time and I'm still not...and not because of Cruz. I just don't think we got enough back. I think Melvin's biggest issue is when we're selling...which worries me if we do that. We seem to have a good idea of which minor league players we want to keep for the most part. We haven't gotten a lot of value back when trading MLB players IMO.

When is the last time even for a day our SS and 2B in the starting lineup was this weak hitting/lack of power? Thank goodness Rickie isn't out longer. I know it's early, but a long-term injury may have made the Brewers 'sellers' in a month or two.

I think they should put the names on the back of the 42s. I think they should then auction them off as kind of a buy it off their back type of deal. Teams could then donate the money to a local charity, etc. I think it'd be nice to have a day for Jackie and then also do some good with that day. Start the bidding at $75 for a MLB game worn jersey and all would sell. That's minimum of $2,250 to give to a local charity and with stars on each team and bidding pretty easy to go up quite a bit. Just a thought.

That was the type of trade the Bucks have to make: replacing an older vet with a younger player already waiting (Redd). I really didn't want Allen to go, but I thought it was time. Just the trade itself was terrible... I think the Bucks traded Ray Ray a bit early. He loved the city and was productive in Seattle. We also gave up Flip Murray who turned into a decent cheap backup guard. Seattle more or less received the 5th pick in the draft when they traded Allen. We didn't get anything near that. As far as Karl, I thought he was one of the better coaches the Bucks have had in awhile. There's no doubt he had some ego issues/etc. The team really needs a dynamic coach that is on the same page as the GM.

I thought he had the best quote of the spring when they asked how he lost the weight. "Uh...just ate better...and worked out more...everything like that..." That made me burst out laughing, I mean...no crap that's how you scientifically lose weight Mat, I think they were asking what you did differently from the years prior. So he probably ate worse and didn't work out as much the yeaer before? I hope Gamel performs...I get the feeling he's going to have a target on his back from Brewers fans. And for the bad interviews...not everyone on the team can be Braun. Besides Braun, Greinke, and Plush...who else is really all that interesting during interviews?

Wasn't Gamel coming off some type of surgery? Maybe I'm 'misremembering', but I thought he had some knee surgery done during the off-season last year. Obviously it is in the best interest to report to camp in great shape, etc, but some guys try to work into it. Not the best idea, but it happens. Back to Hart...I hope he's able to come back after one stint on the DL in the regular season. I don't think we have as much room for error this year as we did last year on offense. We really need our IF to stay healthy as well.

As far as Creed, one of the things that I love about his character is that they don't use him a lot, and when they do, it is AWESOME! Yes, I'd like to see more of him, but when he does show up, it's gold, which is why I like the scarcity as well. I agree, but IMO he hasn't really even had as much air time as he did with Michael Scott. Some shows you only see him and he doesn't speak.

I meant it was pretty stupid of the players to violate whatever rule it was. I'm glad Buzz had the stones to suspend them like that. Not every coach would have. I agree on the suspensions, but I thought it was somewhat odd that Mayo got to play in the 1st half. Do 2nd half suspensions happen that often? Seemed like he wanted to suspend the players, but didn't want to really be put in a bad spot in regard to winning the game. I like Buzz, but I'm just curious if the 2nd half suspension thing is all that common. Who would hurt more to lose - Buzz or Bo (I know chances of Bo leaving a slim...knock on wood)?

I liked last week's, but then was really underwhelmed again this week. I get that Nellie (I think that's her name?) is a friend of Jo's, but she's so incompetent that the whole storyline is implausible and boring to me. I agree. I really like the idea of going to Florida and that on its own had some funny moments IMO, but the basis for going there with Nellie has bombed due to Nellie. Stanley has been funny showing Jim how to vacation. I also think they made a serious mistake making Andy the new manager. He's such a weak character in a position of authority that it's really hurting the show. Andy hasn't been very good. He's a quirky character, but not like Michael Scott. He was better in a smaller role. I really thought Jim would be the boss and I think that would've been a better way to go instead of Andy. I wonder if Will Arnett was the guy if he didn't get his show? Also, I want more Creed. One of the few things that I was excited for with Michael Scott leaving was the thought that we'd get more Creed. It seems that he's getting less time than ever before, but maybe that is me.

I'm happy with Braun's presser from the other day. When the story first ran that he tested positive for something, I thought he was guilty based on what we've seen in the past. Now I believe him, but I don't know if I will ever be able to say that with 100% conviction. I'm sure more tidbits will come out eventually so I'll just wait and see what comes out. One of the main problems with how this is/was covered, is that the media wants to jump the gun. It happens at almost every major network/publisher at times. Braun being guilty is a better story than being innocent. I think the media is in bed with MLB, etc. A good story if you want to make the news would be the fact that Braun's test was positive was a sham and MLB still wanted to suspend it. I don't think too many of the networks would run with that in fear of making MLB upset.

First of all...excited it worked out for us. Great news. I've been a Braun fan for a long time. They reported that he tested positive for PEDs. We were almost immediately told by every other news agency that was not the case. I've defended ESPN and other news outlets and will continue to do so to a certain degree. What did Braun test positive for? Do we know? Will we know? I've loved Braun...for a long time. I long to see what Braun tested positive for and what his story is. I do blame ESPN and any other network for 'assuming' he was guilty...but was he? Do we know? Again, haven't read the thread, but he could have been guilty for the test. We don't know. I love the fact that we hate the East Coast here...but I don't want to be the person always ripping on that kind of stuff. If it was a Red Sox or Yankees player, we'd be crying foul. You can't have it both ways. I see it this way: 1. Braun got 'lucky' that the MLB botched the process and did a very smart thing (either way he did really) in what he argued. He didn't argue the test. Smart. He tested positive for something he was taking that wasn't performance enhancing. 2. Braun was lucky and didn't do anything wrong. I love Braun. I still do worry why the test failed. It could be a science thing that I don't understand. The results obviously indicate his levels were very high. It will be interesting to see what comes out. As a huge Braun fan, I hope he has a press conference and answers these questions as honestly as he can. I just don't see the need to bash the media because we are a small market team, etc. Let's not act small market. Some journalists may have said things wrong...and that happens...but let's get the facts out. Great to have our MVP back though. Great way to start the spring.
