  1. Wasn't it Sexson who hit that damn flag pole about 20 feet up and it bounced back in play?
  2. That's a good start Rickie, and then Gomez pops up another bunt, thankfully it got down. He's the worst bunter, I personally wouldn't have him bunt ever.
  3. I want to say something good about Kintzler but I'm deathly afraid of jinxing him.
  4. To be fair he had 2 really good years, most of BF.net just didn't know about the first. He'll be fine once he gets his control back, but he's certainly not giving me a warm and fuzzy over his performance thus far this season. I'm not big on the closer concept to start with, so an honest question to those who care about closers, who would you rather have? I'm still concerned about Braddock's 2 MPH drop in velocity in one season, he might have another injury. Loe doesn't need to pitch everyday, but I do like him pitching in the tough situations.
  5. Reminds me of Winona Ryder... I have a hard time with these "celebrity" thiefs.
  6. It's rare that between the 3 of us; my dad, my brother, and I will agree across the board on any topic sports related. My brother is typically the outlier, as he likes everyone I love to hate from Deon Sanders to Barry Bonds. However the 3 of us all have extreme dislike for Bill and his "bury this one in the dirt" comment every time the pitcher is ahead in the count, and it's a "pick on Bill for 3 hours affair" any time we watch a game together. If a pitch doesn't start out looking like a strike, a hitter typically isn't going to swing and basically it's just a wasted pitch. There's a wide gulf between a ball that buries in the dirt right behind home plate and one that hits around the catcher, but Bill treats them all the same. I was really disappointed when his contract was renewed. I like BA, but I think BS pretty much follows his initials.
  7. Shouldn't Lucroy really bat 6th in this line-up? Or am I just a homer because I've always liked him?
  8. I agree that we are extremely fortunate to have Chris in WI and Steve in Helena.
  9. Didn't Rogers pitch horribly in early starts last year as well? Might be a trend developing.
  10. Green with a costly 2 run error off the heel of his glove and the Sounds are down 1-2 in the 6th.
  11. Fielder's trade value peaked in 2008, I doubt the return for his services would be worth it. Melvin never seems to find a bidding war for a player that he's trading. I'm not opposed to the idea, I just don't find it to be likely, especially since we traded away 5 legit prospects this winter in an effort to win. edit fixed autocorrect errors
  12. That's a bit of stretch... a pitcher who gives up more than 4 runs in outing didn't pitch well, the object is to limit the amount of runs scored by the opposition. It doesn't matter if the runs come 1 per inning or all in a single inning, if your team is losing while you are on the mound, you aren't pitching well enough to win, regardless of how many runs you've given up. Furthermore, one bad inning of 3+ runs is a terrible start if your team doesn't score more than 3. It's all relative... Really what you are saying is pitcher X was really good without blowup inning Y... the ole Bush and Narveson arguments thrown around this site. Sure if they don't blow up they had a good start, but since they did blow up, they stunk.
  13. The lack of an out was on Betancourt, the throw was terrible. The extra base was on Fielder, all he had to do was catch the ball and save a base. It's not complicated baseball, it's something most of us grasped while playing little league, it's fundamental baseball, something Fielder doesn't do well at all, he makes horrible decisions around 1B. He'll be complimented around here for great effort and hustle, but all those diving plays and tags are not good, fundamentally sound baseball, and they drive me nuts. Another example would be how bad he is digging balls out of the dirt, it's because he doesn't play them from the ground up, so he ends up making wild stabs at the the ball, instead of making the fundamental play fielding the ball from the ground up. Not to mention when he first came up there were instances where he was stretching at the IF making the play instead of stretching to where the throw was going. He's literally been making the Brewers IF defense appear worse than it is since he came up to bigs, he truly is that bad. As far as the game goes, there was plenty of blame to go around... Gomez giving up an out for nothing, the uncontested steal... People blamed Yost, then Macha, and sooner or later RR will be at fault for how poorly the Brewers execute fundamentally. Maybe the true fault here lies with the way the Brewers develop their players through the minor leagues as some of us have been saying all along? Some players just get it and never will, but I don't believe that's the case here.
  14. I guess that depends on what "Best Arm" means... he doesn't have the best arm in the system, that's Santo Manzanillo. He might have the best arm of the starting pitchers, but Rivas is the best "pitcher" in that group, however Peralta is probably the best all around pitching prospect in the organization as his upside is greater than everyone else at AA+.
  15. He still has a FB that approaches 100 mph and if he quits walking people permanently he's a top 10 prospect in this organization by the end of the year.
  16. if the Brewers were losing I wouldn't be laughing, but that was pretty funny, just missed a step somehow and fell down between 2nd and 3rd.
  17. I like him as a pitcher, his velocity was still strong tonight, but long term it's definitely an issue. Braddock's velocity is still down and according to the box didn't pitch very well yesterday, he's not giving me a warm and fuzzy. I'd term it as riding the hot hand right now, and being a former starter he should be able to hand the workload.
