  1. I wasn't going to comment here again on this topic, but you're mistaken if you think I wouldn't say this to his face, because I absolutely would. Like I said in the first thread, I would expect his friends to defend him in public but privately I'd hope they'd question his actions and discuss it with him. I don't see any "internet tough guy" syndrome on display in either thread and I deal with it regularly on XBOX Live and in the past as a beta tester for WOW and tester/player of Everquest. There's a difference between pointed observation and personal attack, furthermore it's not reasonable to assume one can make public statements and then be spared the consequences of his statements and actions. edit. Well at least until recently in the thread there wasn't a comment I would have classified as a personal attack.
  2. If Gamel stays up, I fully expect him to crush the ball. Will he hit like Braun did? No idea, but it's not out of the question, he's hit 9 HRs already between the top 2 levels of professional baseball. Offensively with Gamel in the lineup there's no hole. Defensively I'd agree there is, but short of bringing in someone off the street I'm not sure that situation is fixable. As far as the Escobar comments go... Escobar hasn't been terrible in AAA, he just hasn't been great, he also hasn't had an extended hot streak yet either. A little hot streak and he's up over .300, his power numbers have already begun to improve greatly. I wonder if all this focus on stealing bases has taken away from the rest of his game to this point. We're 6 weeks into the season, Hardy hasn't exactly set the world on fire either.
  3. I have a feeling that this is going to continue building momentum, our media guys on TV and radio are now calling out their counterparts, opposing players are making comments, for what I feel is a non story this just continues to build steam.
  4. I'm not going to debate your opinions with you because there's obviously no changing your mind. I'll respond and leave it at that as I read each paragraph. Asking for anything from Ramirez is out of line, I would have thought you learned that after the Jenkins incident. Not only that but you continued to insult the players, the organization, and their fan base with your subsequent comments about only 15,000 people in the stands. Wearing the opponent's gear to swindle them out of balls is classless, regardless of your justification. You may have cleaned up your act, but many of us remember watching you on TV at County Stadium when you originally earned your moniker, while you may have changed your ways, people are commenting on what you've done, and those are factual statements. Yes you certainly are the epitome of injury prevention, and it's beyond the grasp of mere mortals the bumps and bruises you've saved people. I shouldn't be surprised that you're justifying the ball trick, you have no legal ground to stand on, you're stealing balls. You're a cop for goodness sake, the line should be clearly defined for you. People accepting your behavior doesn't make your actions correct, moral, or decent in any way. As a very disinterested observer, your blog appears to be more about self promotion than sharing your hobby. At the very least getting yourself another 15 minutes of fame probably exponentially increased the hits to your blog. I actually stumbled across your blog this winter after you PM'd me and that was my impression at that time, I was googling trying to figure out how you found a post so old to comment on. Greed is a matter of opinion, and you are greedy to many of us, we see a pattern of milking the situation for all it's worth, and that's greed. There's no way you can prove Home Run balls mean more to you than the rest of us, I would love to catch a ball, even a foul ball, and I've never caught one nor has anyone I know or have gone to games with. We're 0 for 1000s games combined over the last 20 years. If you don't think your job entitles you to some extra respect, then why even bring up how much money you make and what you do for a living? Why throw that in the face of the athlete you're "negotiating" with? That's not personalizing the negotiation, I've been around plenty of high level business negotiations and you're about as far from true negotiating as it gets. You do make us all look bad because you've become the face of Brewer fans to the national media, and many of us have no use for your behavior regardless of how you try to justify it. You don't conduct yourself with any class, dignity, or integrity and it ticks me off that I continually read fallout related to you every day as I bump around the web. Sooner or later this will blow over and we'll forget about you again, hopefully for good this time. You've earned all of the criticism you've gotten, it comes with the publicity... people aren't going to hold hands and sing your praises when a very small percentage of people actually support your actions. This is almost a mirror image of the Jenkins incident, only this time it went national. If you don't want the attention, why search for "Happy Youngster" references here? Why the blog? Why the media attention? Your facts are actually opinions in most cases.
  5. His pitch counts have been so high he's usually done around the 5th, he needed to be more economical with his pitches. I was surprised by his 3 peat of AA this year as well.
  6. The HY saga continues... but didn't that ball go into the bullpen? Congrats Mat... wow that was a rocket.
  7. I only have it in SD for Dish Network as well, I was just coming to check and see if others had a similar issue.
  8. I like Hawing's point as well, there was no drag out diagnosis here, it's being handled the way injuries should be... Definitive diagnosis and treatment from the get go, so while I've been very critical of injury treatment in the past, I owe it to the club to praise them when they get it right. Well done training staff, and once again have a speedy recovery Rickie!
  9. We didn't have a true lead off hitter prior to Weeks getting injured. Just because he was the best alternative doesn't mean that he isn't miscast in a lead off role. Melvin isn't a wheeler and dealer like that, we'd have 2 long term options for 2B, and one would have to go. Everyone would know that he had to move one which would weaken his position for a subsequent trade. He'd never get the same value out of the 2nd move as he had to put into the 1st. Roberts has been a popular target around here along with Peavy, but since Roberts just resigned I highly doubt he'd be on the block. In the context of the club as a whole, it doesn't make sense to get Roberts for 4, have Weeks for 2 more, and Lawrie will be ready prior to Roberts' contract being up. Then there's the financial side, the team is already in the neighborhood of being maxed out payroll wise, acquiring Roberts would likely push the team into the red as I don't see the Brewers getting Baltimore to eat any of his salary. It would eliminate any chance of resigning Hardy and while we'll lose Cam's 10 mil off the books, we don't have a ready replacement at this time, all of the Arby players will get raises, Prince will get a raise, etc. Finally he has an escalating no trade clause in his contract. 8 teams in '10, 12 in '11, full no trade in '12 and '13.
  10. As far as a replacement, it's my sincere hope they don't burn prospects in a reactionary move to acquire another 2B, especially since we'll only need him for a season. After thinking about this since I read the news, I think what makes the most sense offensively and defensively is some mix of Gamel being the primary 3B and Hall being the primary 2B. Unfortunately this really hurts for interleague play, as Gamel would have put us on an even level with the AL clubs, now we're down a power bat to DH. If they are going to call someone up I prefer it to be Irribarren, he's earned a look.
  11. I was thrilled with how he was attacking fast balls this season, he'd made more progress defensively as well. He's a hard worker, good guy, he just doesn't seem to get any breaks. Here's to a speedy recovery Rickie!
  12. He looked better in WV because the hitters would swing at garbage out of the zone, it really is that simple. He's not worse than he was, he's the same, but the hitters are better, and they'll only continue to get better. If he's not able to locate for strikes, he's not going to have success. Think Turbow, when he could get the slider over for a strike he was unhitable, when he didn't... well the results speak for themselves.
  13. WI with a tough 1st on the defensive side of things, but Lawrie goes yard in the bottom half and WI is up 3-2. They have some rather serious base stealing issues defensively, it seems like every team in the league is running on them. It reminds me of my HS team, our catcher couldn't get the ball to 2nd so if a guy got on first the entire team would groan because he'd be in scoring position very quickly. Nieves without a BB or a K
  14. I'm hateful. I just don't like any of the starters at Nashville as anything other than depth or BP options at the big league level, plus I tend to stick to prospects, I don't have much to say about Huntsville's position players either...
  15. Generally I say sit in the seat you paid for. However in situations where the park/stadium is 1/3 full, I don't have a problem with people moving around. We let our boys do that when we take them over to MN for Gopher games (Badgers have priced themselves out), but when we used to take them to Camp Randall they were sitting in their assigned seats regardless of the view.
  16. As uninspiring as his pitching lines have been, at least young JJ is hitting, always take something positive! No Lucroy today either... Salome actually had 3 hits, he's coming on folks... Escobar with another 2B, where have they been all season young man? Irribarren and Gwynn have nearly identical BAs, take a guess who has the better SLG? On an OBP note Gwynn has been taking quite a few walks this season, his ratios have greatly improved, maybe there is a job out there for him someplace. Gillespie hitless today but he's coming around. There is nothing pretty about any Brewer's lines thus far this season, I was hoping his success over the winter would have translated better especially with his placement back in A+. Wilson has more HRs than 2Bs, if he had a usual type line with 5 or 6 doubles to go with his 3 HRs he'd have a very respectable OPS. Wheeler's AVE is in a free fall and Gindl hitless in his first AB, BC could use both those guys heating up again. Bulter has made solid improvement with each successive start, his peripherals continue to improve. In game 2 at WI Meadows pitched better than his line would suggest, a bunt base hit and a sacrifice bunt to start the game against hin led to a run and a single followed by a triple led to the 2 runs in the 3rd. Duran, Green, Kemp, and Zarraga all with multi hit games thus far. BK in LF of all places sees his AVE dip under .220. I had hopes he'd turn into a good 1B prospect, he's got plenty of time to turn his season around. In game 1 Dennis with another hit, in fact 7 of the 9 players tallied a hit, Miller with 3. I'm pretty happy with the Dennis promotion, I was hoping he'd start the season in WI. I'm interested to see what Duran will do this season.
  17. I have no great love Cutter as I'm sure most are aware, I just didn't see how he fit in the OF at all as a starter. He's not a SS, won't hit enough to play 1B or 3B, so that pretty much makes him a 2B. For some reason I always envisioned him having a career path similar to TGJ, just at a different position. His father made it because of extraordinary hustle and work ethic, most likely use of PEDs as well. I've just never felt good about the pick, but everyone seems to like him and to me 2B is the only place he really fits if he's going to have a future.
  18. Well you can give up 6 unearned runs like Suppan did last year and still get a quality start but your team isn't in the game. At some point you have to stop the bleeding if you're a pitcher. It's not bad, but it just doesn't mean anything to me because the better the pitcher the more quality starts you're going to get out of him, it doesn't tell anything we don't already know.

  21. I was speaking to all of the different trilogies, some of the single books were awful, I should have been more clear.
  22. I thought all the books were excellent. I liked the rogue squadron books quite a bit... all my avatars come from the book series.
  23. You know what sucks about Braddock? Even if he pitches lights out, he won't be stretched out enough for 3 years to pitch in the rotation. Hopefully he can get 100 innings this season, then 120ish, 150ish, then rotation.
  24. he pitched that 1 inning yesterday, he didn't pitch today, the game was suspended after 1 complete.
